As a fan of the Saturday 90s XMen TAS waking up early back then every Saturday to see the cartoon on Fox 5. Morph was never into dudes, is always a comedy relief and faced his own fears and proved himself an X-Men.

I watched the show and the only thing that could be construed as Morph being gay was a shower joke and I’ve heard worse irl. Basically a “do you need me to come in there and hold it for ya?” Joke

I don't usually research celebs or follow them much because I'm doing stuff. However, I'd like to know is this really true? Someone made an onlyfans account to supplement income?
Beau DeMayo as talented as he may be and even though he was fired as head writer right B4 the show dropped, the official reason is unclear, despite rumors and speculation about why somebody is doing something in their own life or why, moreso his own personal reasons and choices about his chosen occupations, he has still remained very active on Twitter regarding X '97 even well after it's released, and it would be a risky move business on Marvel's part to aim programming geared to children partnered with someone who also publicly pushing adult content on on the same media platforms. And the argument is some ppl are saying Marvel should just let him work and what he does with his only fans is his own business and some say we already have enough of a problem with the mainstream media trying to groom our civilization sexually starting the programming attempts as young as possible. Everyday I feel like I'm in the twilight zone because this is the same world where one 1st lady of a country is praised for being an ex porn star when the 1st lady directly prior to them was criticized for having her arm out in a sleeveless dress, and by the same people at that. Folks who argue that a cartoon characters rear end should be bigger but we call a real woman a whore for wearing heels and red lip stick, and folks who swear tooth and nail that Magneto was right. I don't know. 🤷 What I have seen is that the majority of public images I've seen associated with Mr DeMayo in regards to Marvel and their products, he's very often lacking clothes. So I imagine Marvel considers him a bit of a liability and in this 'woke vs unwoke’ cycle of delusional it would be.
There is no such thing as ’has to have’ anything outside of obvious basic necessities. Of course things like we have to have air to live, water, etc., barring extenuating circumstances or special cases, nobody really has to have or do any particular job or occupation. We always have a choice in everything we do and we can try to rationalize in our heads as much as we want to try to cope with our own stuff and we can even delude our ownselves into trying to believe it but try as we might with all the excuses we can but be not deceived, GOD is not mocked, as a man soweth, that shall he also reap. If he 'has' to supplement his income that's the only other absolute way to do it 🤷 if, like we all, may or may not be a byproduct of the manifestation of pride 🤷 beats me. The other big problem with X Men 97 is that it blew through its stories WAY too fast. One second they fight Madelyn Pryor the next Sinister then Bastion then The Adversary pops in out of nowhere. Then Apocalypse. Both past and present. If you were a first time fan you would say WTF is going on?! Who are these people?!Each one of these stories would take a season to build up and complete. It’s as if someone put a gun to someone’s head and said give me as many X Men stories as you can in 15 minutes or I’ll kill you. On top of that, Morph being used so they don’t have to pay for extra voice actors and characters that you wanted to see. Then Rogue touching a doctor then knowing how to deliver a baby which I’m sure her touching a normal human to gain that knowledge would either have killed him or put him in a coma. It made the whole thing seem like a big MESS.
As I understand it, this was supposed to be a continuation of the original series, so it assumes you saw the original series. Would you rather it'd be a reboot?
I think the pacing of the show was mostly okay. The Lifedeath story, though, was too rushed and didn't make sense. Motendo--which felt like filler--should have been cut to give Liifedeath more story time. But even then, the romance between Storm and Forge might still seem rushed. And it just seemed like Storm got her power back by believing really hard. And the Adversary was introduced too suddenly.
from people not harping on 'it's so bad cuz woke' this has been the main complaint. that it crammed too much content from the comics all at once. and i kinda agree. but then given the disney numbers, limiting those stories to two seasons probably is the better bet given they likely knew they'd get no more than that.
X-Men 97 felt like they tried to take the most popular stories of X-Men since it was taken off air and crammed together for no apparent reason. The Season 1 finale was a mess that can't be fixed without pretending like it never happened.

he finally wakes up, been pointing out the OBVIOUS foreshadowing, but the nostalgia glasses were strong with this one. I am a very big fan of the original and the out of place retcons and foreshadowing was GLARING and not subtle at all. Go watch the goblin queen ep3 or whatever that is called and watch morph's interaction with wolverine in the shower, it was very obvious there from the start

Every characters are flat in x97. 19s clothing vibes shine the brightest, when the characters look good. Art style in this case, just bad. You know? Have you seen the original? X-men are my favorite with Spidey and Bats, that's why I didn't get on the Disney bandwagon to disappointment.

I wasn't getting Disney+. I wasn't going to support everything else Disney has done to destroy culture. I wasn't going to give them money to use to further that goal. And even if the show itself lacked it, it seems that opinion was proven right in the end.

The moment that REALLY destroyed the fanbase, the moment thats on par with Spider-Man One More Day, was the Morrison era that was a soft reboot for the brand.
Morrison was brought in admittedly not knowing much about the 26 year history of the current continuity and its dedicated fanbase, and was asked by Marvel to toss it all aside and put his own spin on the characters to bring in a newer, younger fanbase.
It was literally a TLJ move fifteen years prior to TLJ. And just like Disney Star Wars, X-men never recovered.

X-Men was my favorite comic.
It was really good because writer Chris Claremont was in charge for a very long time and he really loved all of the characters.
He made them 'real'.
He was also probably the first and one of the only creatives who let their characters fail.
Sometimes the X-Men didn't win, or the cost of winning was so high they may as well have lost. And he let some of the characters be tragic, even the bad guys.
Fox and later Disney never hired anyone who cared as much as Mr. Claremont did.
I don't think anyone after him really understands what the X-Men even are

hi, Chris Claremont was the writer of Uncanny X-Men for about 30 years.
He was the one who gave them all their personality.
He really created the X-Men world.
The 90s Fox cartoon and a lot of the movies pretty much adapted their scripts from his comic stories.
But, I think he did it even better, because he wrote for so long he could take the time to develop the characters more.
He also later wrote a few X-Men spin-offs like Excalibur working with the talented artist Alan Davis.
This story was continued from the Captain Britain comic.
Also a really great comic
In the comic the X-Men were really dark.
They had a lot of depth and personal baggage I didn't see in other comics.
It was really attractive to me.

hi, the original Captain Britain from 1976. The artist and co-writer was Alan Davis.
It also introduces Psyclocke, she was originally British not Japanese and she's Captain Britain's sister.

Many years later Chris Claremont wrote a story arc in Uncanny X-Men where a lot of the X-Men went into hiding in Australia.
They abandoned Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, and Phonex 2 on their own.
So, they moved to Britain.
(it was a dangerous time for mutants)
Then Mr Claremont and Mr Davis started the Excalibur comic continuing the stories from Captain Britain, and adding in these X-men, for about the first 40 issues
yes, Mr Claremont started writing Uncanny X-Men in the 60s.
He really started getting good in the late 70s.
That's when he started finding his 'voice'.
And he basically turned the comic into one long story with lots of small, story arcs

Funnily enough, I doubt most people are very homophobic or bigoted at all.
My main complaint was still the damn costume changes in Episode 9. But to be fair, it was announced before the show premiered that Morph was non-binary. And the hints were pretty evident by Episode #3 that Morph had the hots for Wolverine. I don’t see “best buds” willingly walking into the shower when one of them is already in there. Or resting your arm on them while looking lovingly into their eyes, then saying “*sigh* And then there was Morph” when Wolverine walked away. My gaydar alarm immediately started going off at those points.
I just kind of rolled my eyes at the morph thing since it never came off that he was in love with wolverine through the whole show. They just came off as best buds and nothing else. It didn't make me have negative feelings on the show in retrospect it just left me asking "why?"
Honestly, I could care less that Morph is gay or non-binary. He was MADE UP FOR THE ORIGINAL CARTOON. That's what you have characters like that for, and I'm fine with it.
What I'm not fine with is changing existing characters from their established storyline and backgrounds to virtue signal.

This show was filled with homosexual propaganda. The entire B plot with Jubilee and Sunspot is an allegory for being a closeted homosexual. The Wolverine/Morph dynamic is a reference to a "down low" homosexual relationship. DeMayo even snuck a cameo of himself in when the Genosha massacre started. Rave culture during the celebration. The overarching theme of mutants (homosexuals) being stifled and hated for being themselves.

I cared more about the Legal friendly SpiderMan in Invincible Season 2 than any cameo in Xmen97.
Invincible is another show that starts slow while boiling up the woke and then hitting you with the truck.
i honestly didn't cuz they changed it and turned it really bad. the batman cameo there was better than the 25% altered spiderman and oct. rather he just would have alluded to spidey off screen or with a part of him there than change him like they did.

The Spiderman scene in Invincible took directly from the page in the comic and handled characterization perfectly

Honestly I was expecting to see it, but it just wasn't there. Aside from the foot note of Morph being non-binary prior too release, I didn't notice any woke content. I'm dreading that they're baiting us and saving it for season 2.

X-Men 97 had a lot going for it. But Disney has screwed us over time and time again for they simply want us to go touch grass and that is what we have been doing and the numbers say that 97 isn’t doing very well despite the great reviews from critics and fans and Morph even from the 90s show always came off as a as a discount male Mystique.
If you ask me it looks like 97 is going the way of Fallout for it is full of nostalgia references and whatnot. But watching it for a second time it feels like the characters are being lead by the plot and not the other way around in both shows.
If your friends invite you to eat your favorite cake and you set a date but then on the day of the cake you find out your foes put .01oz of dog shit in it, Would you still eat it?
It was written by people who only writing experience are old IMPACT / BOTTOM TEXT memes and gay enough to get hired at Disney. Did you really expect anything different? Don't worry keep paying them for the same content they'll change sooner or later I mean complaints about Disney have only been around since 2014... oh ten years and still the same shtick.
I'll be honest, terrible cliffhanger. It's a predictable cliffhanger by even "kid's cartoon" standards and I'm not even sure if this constitutes as a kid's program. It sure as hell it isn't as cool as Anime and it's just non-stop "and then" storytelling.
Biggest let downs has to be Rogue's character. Gambit didn't deserve to be rejected, not with all they went through as teammates or as friends. Writer's should've come up with a better excuse to break them up. Magneto's GDIF character design was so pushed and unnatural. It's so awkward to see him sexually interacting with characters as old as his kids. Again, they (character designers) really went out of their way to sexualize Magneto, whenever they could for a holocaust survivor...
Even in the comics, they literally had to de-age Magneto (or so we thought at the time with Joseph), just so he could flirt with Rogue. In X-Men 97, it's like some Oldje fantasy.
I always find it interesting that showing a man expressing love to a woman is bad and wont be shown for marvel women but showing gay romance is ok
But this show had so much of men expressing their love for women. It was with almost every character. I LOVE X-MEN 97! My interpretation of Morph is he is a biological male and has a close brotherhood with Logan. The animation is MARVELous.

I think it's odd that people like Nerdrotic love this show so much and haven't pointed out there aren't any episodes led by male protagonists. Storm needed her powers, Rogue needed to avenge Gambit, Jubilee needed to lead her boyfriend and protect him, Jean and Madelyne had their drama too. Where were the Wolverine, Beast, Cyclops, or Professor X led episodes? Plenty about the male villains though.
If anyone was the main character this season it was Scott though. I thought the season did a brilliant job showing him as a true leader and hero who does the right thing.
Are you joking. Cyclops had the one of the shows main storylines with Nathan and Jean. Maybe that's why he liked it.
Professor X also did pretty much have an episode combined with Storm getting the new costume. It was all focused on him returning. I'm pretty convinced a lot of you guys didn't watch it.

honestly i'm going to disagree with you here. cuz you really haven't pointed out why the show is bad here, you're just harping on about the past. i expected to hear some insight of why you disliked the morph scene or something... but all i hear is a boring empty rant. you give more credence to not buying a toy cuz it's a redone mold than going into why the show has issues.

I think the show's above average, especially given that it's Disney. But I can also understand why people are hypersensitive to wokeness in general. If I know ant character is gay or a "strong female protagonist" in a show, my knee-jerk reaction is to not watch it. Because I associate those things with bad writing. Modern activism, in their incompetence, have associated their causes with bad writing. Also, some people just want Disney to burn. Disney deserves it, but I'm still going to give good shows credit.
I do agree that if the showrunner was going to make Morph in love with Wolverine, just say so and don't just tack it on at the end. That feels like the end of the Korra series where Korra and Asami are just suddenly gay now--and the shippers gaslight that the signs were there all along. But in the case of Morph, it could be that he's in love with Worverine but knows Wolverine doesn't feel that way. Or I hope Wolverine doesn't, because that'd make little sense. But making Morph gender confused or whatever is possible, and it seems like a non-issue. It barely impacts anything right now. All the heroes are still doing heroic things.

This is a franchise that’s always been an “all types welcome” group. They have mutants who are various ethnicities, different faiths, straight, and even gay. It’s not like what they had Morph do for Logan was out of character or something he wouldn’t have done to try to help Logan have the will to live and not go into shock from the pain.
Morph is essentially a character the original show crafted from scraps of other characters to fill a role. Making Morph attracted to Wolverine isn’t a choice that is “woke” when the comics have had Northstar being openly gay since 1992 and many more after him.
This being an established part of Morph’s character really isn’t abnormal for an X-men story. If you’re familiar with the comics you know the franchise isn’t opposed to representing all types.
It's not them representing something as comics and nerd culture always been pretty tolerate to most things. It's the lack of respect for existing characters and personalities. It's way the messaging takes priority over telling a good story. Thse writers are more heavy handed than the Thing. Morph character was never gay in the original show. He was never nonbinary. This was all changed, so this Xmen was always in lockstep argument falls flat on it's face the moment you admit they had to make changes to to reflect modern takes on these subjects. They would have just copy pasted the show as is if was exactly on same page as modern SJW politics...it was clearly not.(look at the way women were drawn in the 90s and tell me they gave a crap about how SJW felt.) Especially when it's called Xmen 97, then I don't know act like it's stil set in the freaking 90s.(Or continue the show in earnest instead of making it a show mainly for adults so they have an excuse toss more messaging into it.) There's a huge difference between them including characters of all walks than them replacing an existing character to check a box. They do alot of the later lately.

This has been a trend that's happen far too often in media across the board. It's not exclusive to Xmen 97. Media more interest in checking boxes than telling good stories, so I am checking out.
@@Lastjustice Morph's character in the classic series was established as Logan's best friend and the team's class clown. In 97, they didn't change those core character traits, they just fleshed them out more since Morph's now a part of the team again. The classic show's Morph was pretty much an OC, like X-23 in Evolution. I don't see this as an Iceman thing cause Iceman's long history of romance made the change less believable but Morph's orientation wasn't ever defined. The 90s writers took the face/powers of the deceased character Changeling, changed the name to Morph, established his likable traits, then killed him off to show that the cartoon meant business (and later brought him back via Sinister, etc).
The only thing from the comics the 97 series incorporated was using the face of the Exiles comic book Morph, so any characterization they included wouldn't need to match the comics. Plus if anyone would feel blasé about gender I'd guess it'd be a shapeshifter since they're power is taking on the form of another person. I agree though the pronouns thing is cumbersome since in the classic cartoon Morph used male pronouns, but the change is one I wouldn't have ever noticed since the only time anyone refers to Morph with pronouns was in episode 9 when Rogue's ranted before going with Magneto.
Regarding Morph's feelings for Logan, it makes sense. Of course Morph loves Logan. In the classic series Logan never once gave up on Morph, rescued them, and was sensitive about their PTSD. Their friendship is important, so even in a platonic sense Morph LOVES Logan. Thus far, we don't even see Morph trying to turn it into a romance. Morph was urging Logan to keep fighting through the pain Magneto caused. Jean's voice calms Logan. Yes, Morph is saying, "I love you," to Logan and meant it. Morph's feelings could be desire for romantic love, it still wouldn't be out of character. We never once saw Morph's orientation on display in the classic show so it's not a stretch that Morph could feel attraction to Logan.

X-Men 1992 - 2000 is timeless, and perfect to this day. I'm glad I saved the series in mp4 format. Sadly I never had a comic book store near me growing up, so I only had the tv series. But now I'm really getting into classic and timeless comics.

Actual collectors couldn't care less about any superficial changes to Morph on this show, because 1. he was such a minor character in the original series, and 2. he had such a minor role in this show too, and just for a bonus 3. the character has a pretty vague sexuality profile; especially in Exiles if you've read Vol.2.

They know next to nothing about the x-men, don't read comics, but because they watched an episode or 2 from a cartoon 30 years ago think that's enough to qualify them as having an educated opinion on a franchise that pretty much carried the Marvel Comics brand in the 90's (along with spidey). Well said. Also if I may - most of the people claiming to be fans of some comic team or other in general tend not to read comics. At least, not these days. Meanwhile, 9/10 times on the modern internet, if you're curious about a comic you can look it up and read it digitally.
I have several comic book friends who swear X-men'97 is amazing, but I still won't watch it. Mostly because I won't spend money (or time) on D+, but also because I'm not enamored by the idea of a modern show set in the 90's. It just has such a 1984 vibe of re-writing history.
I did break down and buy the Goblin Queen fig. to fill out my collection. Needed a Red Queen for my Hellfire Club.

I agree with practically everything you said, but i just would've liked you to say those things when those woke scenes took place, the Morph/Wolverine was in the second episode, speaking now doesn't have the same "strength" to it, but i understand that if the youtubers start remarking those situations from the beginning, even less people would've watched it, no youtuber mentioned any woke scene while the show was being aired. It's weird hearing these things now, we needed videos like these one back then.

I didn't care about Morph and Wolverine. They are irrelevant. The amount of dick riding Demayo does for Magneto in this show I'm surprised he can actually still walk straight. Episode 2, Mags threatens his judges at his own trial, makes a pretty speech none of these panicking normies likely heard and gets off, because he chose not to end them. And why did Bastion's plan work? A bunch of giant robots come along and attack a Mutant nation, killing almost all of them and somehow Mutants are the bad guys? Again? Oh, and how about having Terminators suddenly explode out of friends, family and neighbours to start shooting at OTHER family, friends and neighbours who are also confused because they never used a power or knew they had one, and somehow everyone believe the killer robots when they say they're 'helping'?
And then there's the EMP. And it doesn't work that way. It's not a switch you can flip back on. Also, Mags didn't just kill a 'few thousand' he killed HUNDREDS of MILLIONS. How many planes were there in the air when he cut the power? How many were over cities? And do you think fire services were able to do anything when their trucks and pumps won't start? How many people died when their pacemakers, dialysis machines, iron lungs stopped working? How many nuclear disasters did he cause then he shut down power plants and their safety measures were suddenly gone?
This show is a master class in forced writing. You're welcome to like it, you have every right to, I have no say, but personally I cannot take anyone who says this show is good, seriously.
Kind of started watching the original 1st season. The first episode opens up with Sabertooth wrecking stuff on the news. Then you fast forward to Magneto's first appearence. Tries to break Beast out of jail. Beast refuses. That is in the news. He wrecked people doing that too. He attacks a chemical plant. That is also in the news. He attacks a nuclear missile sight. Launching the missles at the base itself. That is also reported in the news. What's not is X MEN saving the day. But because of Magneto's violence senator Kelly run for president. It advances legislation for protection from the mutants. Which is sentinels. So what changed to make people see mutants as good guys? I mean I'm guessing Magneto's killed thousands.
Watching the season finale, seeing that Wolverine & Morph scene, reaction: “aaaand there it is, Modern Disney doing Modern Disney things.”
Xmen’97 was fine. Not amazing like so many shills rave over. It just fine. A speck of comic adaptation surrounded by a sea of 💩 Disney produced.
If you are an X-Men fan then you have to respect the genius that was Chris Claremont on his legendary 17 year run. Claremont implied a lot of things that marvel wouldn’t allow him to make explicit. Did Storm have a lesbian relationship with Yukio? Yes. Was Mystique intended to be able to shape shift into a form that could impregnate Destiny? Yes.
In the original show, Morph was adapted from the mutant villain, Changeling, specifically to be killed off in the first episode. There was not a whole lot we knew about the character, and when they were revived by mr sinister and brought back as a villain, we still didn’t learn THAT much about Morph. Morph’s popularity from the show later put the character on the main x-men team for the Age of Apocalypse storyline, and we STILL learn relatively little. So the idea that Morph is some established legacy character who could never be gay or non-binary is just incorrect. Moreover, Morph turning into Jean to tell a dying Wolverine he’s loved is a LOT less explicit than Storm’s comic book relationship with Yukio, for example. It doesn’t matter that the show runner confirmed it, that scene is very obviously open to interpretation, and whether you feel like it makes Morph attracted to Wolverine or just thoughtful enough shapeshift into a form that would keep his survival drive high, or BOTH, the character is more 3 dimensional because of it.
The original X-Men comic book was a rare early misstep for the
sales shattering creative duo that was Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the early 60’s, who seemed almost unable to produce a flop in the wake of successes like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. X-Men was cancelled at issue 50, to be relegated to reprints until the 1975 relaunch with Giant Size X-Men #1, and the introduction of a new and diverse team under Chris Claremont’s direction. You could argue that x-men #1 was BEHIND the times, in that the idea that 5 straight white teenagers who could easily hide their mutations should be stand ins for oppressed minorities just wasn’t very compelling during a time when a sitting US president could be assassinated while civil rights protests raged.
The Mutant allegories for lgbtq and non-white experiences probably reached their height in the early 90’s x-men comics (and the animated series adaptations of those comics). Today’s audiences don’t need Marvel to create “avatars” for differences in culture or sexuality. It feels unrealistic for modern X-Men stories to be incapable of authentically portraying those differences. The idea that a shapeshifter might be MORE likely to be gender and sexually fluid is not new to this show, and indeed was introduced by the single most significant creative force behind X-Men becoming the best selling comic book of all time, Chris Claremont. If you’re not on board for all the “wokeness” that derives from the simple concept that Nazi Robots are a BAD thing, then I’m sorry to be the one to break it to you that you NEVER liked the X-Men, you just liked playing with your dolls.

Mr. Sinister rescued Morph. And was controlling him. Morph psychologically warfared the whole team. And nearly broke the X MEN. After his and Mr. Sinister's defeat. Morph left to find himself or something. I don't remember exactly. It's been a long time. But why'd he come back?
Honestly, I thought it was a step in the right direction. Just a step. A step too little, a step too late, but a step nonetheless. The Morph stuff was honestly the only thing I explicitly didn't like about '97. I also wasn't a fan of the art style. It was a little too all over the place; either faithfully updated (Cyclops, Wolverine, Jubilee...almost everybody, really), just off enough to be totally off to me (Magneto), or in an irritating spot in between (Charles, Rogue--and no, not just the cheeks; I think her facial lines are too thick or something...just...off). Stories were rushed, and yes, there were lots of cameos, but these were inherent to the original show too, and even more so in '97 as a flaw of modern television/animation seasons being significantly reduced in episode count in general. As opposed to the really odd one-sided romance angle they're giving Morph and Wolverine, I have to commend the genuine sisterly bond the series is exploring with Jean and Storm. I wouldn't mind more earnest and sincere female bonding stories like that that aren't tainted by needless perversion. Again, a step. Again, too little, too late for most. I'm hopeful that season two will stay the course, but I'm not blind to the writing on the wall either...

And yes, I got in trouble MULTIPLE times for "student discrimination" or "verbal abuse", which is why I always BROUGHT said pablam and asked how THEY would have graded such a work 8n a HARD SCIENCE class. The fourth time (which was my Math 260 class), I just grinned as I walked into the disciplinary hearing and pulled out the paper. If they just had to add a gay character, why not use Northstar or add Anole early? They're both established gay characters.
