    This is the best review on the Nectar hybrid mattresses I’ve seen thus far. I purchased a Nectar hybrid premier queen just hours ago and I’m very excited about getting my bed. I also bought the adjustable frame. I live with chronic pain and this was a personal investment for my health. I was able to receive 40% off my purchase today due to a sale they are running and this is a tax free weekend in my state this weekend. I feel confident in my decision and I’ve been researching mattresses for awhile. Thank you for the thorough review.

      @@kylelogan5013 - I really do enjoy my bed. I needed it badly. If I could change anything I would get my bed in extra long. I’m not that tall (I’m a little under 5’5”). I find when I use my remote and sit upright in the bed I feel I need more space at the bottom of my bed. This may sound kind of weird but I feel my feet are almost at the bottom of the mattress. As far as comfort and quality I really love my bed. I bought the mattress and the adjustable frame.

    I watched your review, and you had indicated that the hybrid Premiere had some furnace to it. I watched a few other reviews and these people are saying that they would not even recommend it for back or stomach sleepers, indicating it was a bit soft. I don't know why their description is so different from yours. I was close to purchasing it, but I'm glad I did not.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  8 місяців тому +3

      So this might be due to a couple of factors. One, we're not sure which model the other reviewers were actually reviewing. Nectar has changed their constructions a few times in the last years, and we always try to review the newest models and stay up to date on these things. Two, everyone is different and feels things differently. We try to be systematic and precise with our own measurements, but occasionally we hear people say that something feels very differently to them.
      FWIW, our founder and chief mattress tester (Mike) has evaluated between 500 and 1,000 mattresses over the past 15 years, and is the one who personally tests each mattress. I can't think of any other reviewer that has anywhere close to his credentials, so I do think our ratings are the most consistent and reliable of any on the market.
      I hope that's helpful.

    would the hybrid classic be good for stomach sleepers? what do you think the firmness level is 1-10? also do they use fiberglass in these?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому +3

      Hi Michael -- Thanks for your question, and sorry we missed this earlier. In general, we don't tend to recommend mattresses with memory foam comfort layers for stomach sleepers. That said, if you are a stomach sleeper who likes a bit of memory feel, this is about as good an option as you will find, since the coil support layer is very strong and the amount of sinkage is less than most memory foam mattresses. So I'd actually expect most stomach sleepers to be just fine on this mattress.
      In terms of the feel, the notion of a "firmness" scale is misguided, since firmness is not a feature -- it is simply the absence of softness. Instead, we use a softness scale of 1 (least soft) to 9 (most soft), with 5 being a Medium. This one is a 4 on our scale (ie, a Medium-Firm).
      I hope that's helpful.

    Does the Nectar mattress contain fiberglass?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому

      Good question. Unfortunately, this is not entirely clear on current Nectar models and many manufacturers are in the process of moving away from fiberglass fire barriers. We'd recommend asking Nectar's customer service this question to see which models (if any) actively use a fiberglass firesock. Hope that helps.

    Do you recommend a mattress that is good for hot sleepers?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому +2

      Hey there!
      Generally speaking, we find that hot sleepers do best with less overall memory foam and slightly firmer and less conforming mattress constructions. You might also like a latex mattress, as many find that latex is more breathable than other foam types.
      "Cooling technologies" are also available from most mattress brands these days. We find that these can help, but the overall effect of these is typically short-lived and doesn't last the entire night. Hope that helps.

    Which mattress is good for someone on the fatter side who weighs 200+ pounds?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  5 місяців тому

      So most mattresses are designed to support up to 200lbs. If you're a bit over 200lbs (or closer to 250-260) or are generally concerned about mattress longevity then the best course of action is to look at HD mattress models like Brooklyn Bedding's Titan or Titan Luxe.
      We've also recently built a toolset that allows readers to sort the market based on selectable filters. Here's a list sorted by pressure relief at 250lbs. www.goodbed.com/mattress-models/?pressure_s1_w_heavy=heavy

      @goodbed  Рік тому

      Hi there -- I'm not sure I understand the question here. Yes, the mattresses shown here are hybrid. And yes, they do weigh a bit more than their foam counterparts, mainly on account of the beefy coils, as explained in the video.
      I don't have exact weight measurements on these, however I'm confident that the weights of these models are not exorbitant (roughly average) in the scheme of all mattresses across the market today.

    I have been researching mattresses for months, and wish I would have came across your channel sooner. Your videos are extremely informative and helpful.
    I have been sleeping on a Zinus hybrid memory foam bed for the past month and will be returning it and trying something new. I have been thinking about trying the nectar hybrid (and that is what your sleep quiz recommended), but am unsure how similar they will be.
    What I don’t like about my current mattress is when I’m laying on my back, I feel like there is no push back or support on my lower back. I feel like I need to put a pillow under my lower back to keep my back aligned. This makes me think the bed is too soft, but when I lay on my side It feels too firm. When I’m on my side I feel a lot of pressure on my shoulder and hip and my lower back again hurts. I don’t know if it is just this bed, or if this is what all memory foam feels like.
    I am 5-7 and 155 pounds. I have also been thinking about the bear star hybrid, but I really would prefer to keep my price closer to $1000.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому +4

      Hi Carly -- Thanks for your question and your kind words. We have not tested the Zinus hybrid memory foam mattress so I can't say as much about it, but I can make some general comparisons based on what I know of Zinus products and the components they use.
      The main thing I would point out is that as we describe in this video, the Nectar Hybrid uses a very robust and firm coil unit. This is certainly going to provide more underlying support than the coil unit in the Zinus. I don't think this will specifically provide push-back in your lumbar area, which seems to be what you say you are lacking, but it should keep your hips from sinking as far into the mattress. When your hips sink too far into the mattress, this causes a natural flattening of the lumbar curve (which we sometimes refer to as "hammocking") and that is very likely what you're experiencing on your current mattress.
      In terms of the pressure relief, the Hybrid Premier Copper will be your best bet of the Nectar Hybrid models. It has the most softness and cushioning depth of the 3, and the most pressure-relieving memory foam. The Bear Star Hybrid has a little more softness and cushioning depth as well as a little more memory feel. We have a video coming out about that model in the next month or so.
      I hope that's helpful.

    • @carlyhintz8124
      @carlyhintz8124 Рік тому

      @@goodbed thank you so much for you response! “Hammocking” is prevalent in all foam mattresses right? So the nectar original probably wouldn’t be a good fit?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому +5

      @@carlyhintz8124 No, not necessarily. Hammocking happens when the support provided by the mattress is inadequate to support the sleeper's hips in a manner that keeps their spine in proper alignment. This can happen on any type of mattress (foam, spring, etc.), and likewise can be avoided on any kind of mattress as well. It comes down to how the mattress is constructed and how much support it offers in different zones and depths of the mattress relative to how the weight of the sleeper is distributed across the mattress. So it can even vary by person, meaning a mattress that hammocks for one person could actually offer ideal spinal alignment for another person.
      That said, to simplify and generalize this a bit, hammocking tends to happen less when the underlying support core of the mattress is quite firm, which is much more so the case with the Nectar Hybrid than the Nectar Original.
      I hope that's helpful.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому +10

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. You can definitely ask, and in fact you should. We make a referral fee when consumers purchase a Nectar product after clicking one of the links to Nectar from our website. We work with every major online mattress brand in this same way. Nectar does not pay us anything to create reviews of their products, nor do they have any influence over our content.
      In terms of how this compares to other sources of reviews, the way that most consumers are being suckered these days is Best Mattress lists. These are the scam of the century. The products on these lists are ranked by one criteria only -- how much money they make for that publisher. Some sites are very good at making these lists look legitimate, but nonetheless they are nothing more than a pay-to-play list of who pays them the most money. So if you want to avoid untrustworthy sources of information, just make sure to avoid any website that publishes lists of "Best Mattresses for _____". If a website has those lists, you can be certain that anything they say is BS.
      I hope that's helpful.

      @@goodbed I appreciate the reply. Thank you for being honest. I just find it interesting with video reviews of their beds, when it comes to talking about the company - they give it a positive review even though they only reference the website and not look at overall real customer reviews (that are very negative).

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому +6

      @@User-cl8mn Yes, you are certainly going to see things in customer reviews that don't get discussed in editorial reviews. With most editorial reviews you see on the internet (and especially on UA-cam), that's because the "review" you see is nothing more than a sales pitch that's been cleverly disguised as a review.
      By contrast, I would be remiss not to mention that GoodBed is the only mattress information resource that features both expert reviews and customer reviews. Customer reviews is actually where we started, and today we are the largest independent consumer review platform for mattresses, so we always show customer reviews on our site alongside our editorial content.
      One other note here is that FWIW, customer reviews of mattresses should be interpreted carefully. Mattresses are both highly personal and very subjective, and any given consumer has a very limited basis for comparison to other mattresses (most people never own more than 10 mattresses their whole lives). So the average review has limited relevance to the average reader. What is more relevant would be any broader trends that you can see from reviewers who share your needs, preferences, and priorities. That said, such trends tend to be rather difficult to discern, even when filtering reviews by sleeper type, which is something unique that you can also do on GoodBed.
      In terms of our editorial coverage, we don't tend to explicitly discuss customer reviews. This is partly because those reviews are already readily found on our site (right alongside our editorial review), and partly because our expert perspective comes from a completely different place than the perspective of the average customer (in the same way that an expert on wine or cars wouldn't be influenced by the opinions of the average wine drinker or car owner). But of course, when there are clear trends that appear in customer reviews, we certainly may factor these into our assessments. Typically though, the reasons those trends exist ties out to something that we can readily see in the product ourselves and thus would have mentioned anyways.
      I hope that's helpful.

    Do you really know what you will be signing up for if you buy a Nectar mattress, I bought one about 1 year ago and to say it has been a disappointment is an understatement this foam king size mattress has totally failed on both sides, and it has a crown in the middle and is horribly uncomfortable. The worst part however is finding someone who cares. I've sent over 20 pictures to Nectar and Amazon where I bought it, wrote several letters and all they tell me to do is take more scientific pictures with depth measurements and for the 7th time send them my proof of purchase receipt, 3 months this has gone on. Each time I get ahold of them they act like I'm someone different and make me jump through all these hoops all over again. My sincere advice to you is NEVER BUY A NECTOR PRODUCT ESSPECIALLY A MATTRESS!

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi Brent -- Sorry to hear about your experience. FWIW, while any problem with the product certainly falls to Nectar, the customer service on this is 100% the responsibility of the retailer. This is a big part of what Amazon is getting paid for when you purchase through them. So the run-around you're experiencing is really on their shoulders, not Nectar's. For future reference, while I purchase many things from Amazon, there are many much better sources from which I'd recommend purchasing a mattress. I hope that's helpful.

    Just a note but density has nothing to do with the perception of hot and cold. What is happening is marble is a much better conductor of heat than wood is. So when you touch the marble the heat from your hand is transferred easily into the marble which you perceive as cold because the heat is figuratively getting sucked out of your hand. Wood is not a good conductor of heat so it stays in your finger tips.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому +3

      Hi Austin -- Thanks for your comment. It's good to have other folks here who share our 'engineer-brain' interest in how things work. You are of course right that this was a simplified metaphor. The point was simply to give folks a general understanding of what causes the coolness to the touch on this product, without getting into any more academic detail than necessary. Certainly the conductive properties are the driver here, but to make this more relatable to folks, the comparison between lying on marble vs wood was used. And while you are of course correct that density and conductivity are not the same, they are nonetheless correlated, as evidenced by the fact that denser materials (eg, metal, glass, or even stone) tend to conduct heat better than porous materials (eg, wood).

      Hey there! We've seen mixed reports on Nectar mattresses utilizing fiberglass firesocks - you might have to check with Nectar themselves for that information. However, these mattresses should not be made with formaldehyde. Nectar Sleep is actively registered with Certipur-US, which tests foam to strict criteria to assess for the use of potentially harmful additives like formaldehyde.
      You can see this certification for yourself at Certipur's online directory here: certipur.us/directory/.
