- ITS DONE! The 3.6L Pentastar V6 Engine is assembled and headed down to FL so Ray can get it installed in the van. In this video, I hang the timing chains and reseal the majority of this engine, finishing the final round of "engine work" so that the Tosi family has the best possible outcome from this bad situation.

Ray and I have combined our efforts in helping out the Tosi family with their van.
Their 2011 Chrysler Town & Country overheated catastrophically leaving them with just one vehicle. After some careful consideration with Ray, we decided the best thing to do would be fixing a good core engine I had on the shelf and installing it into their van at no cost. Since I've got the engine apart, we're taking care of all of the known problems with these engines which will be detailed in these videos.
Why am I doing this? My name is Eric and I own and run a full service auto salvage business and part of our model includes dismantling blown up or bad engines and selling the parts that are still good. We do not rebuild engines, merely supply parts to those who do. This is a special case where I can use parts from a previous teardown and an engine without major issues to build one good engine. Not something I do often!
I really hope you enjoyed this video and if you'd like to see the progress on this engine please subscribe to this channel and Rainmanrays channel as the entire process will be shared across both channels.
As always I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism. Catch you on the next one!
-Eric
Eric - absolutely no worries on this taking some time to complete. Our van has sentimental value to us, so we are glad we get to keep it vs getting a different one. With the new engine, and all you guys are doing for us, it’s priceless to us now. We’ll drive this thing to 500K+ miles if we can. Again, no words can accurately convey our gratitude to you, but… THANK YOU! - Greg, Kristen, Olin, Winston, Levi, Zechariah and Malachi Tosi
@@TosiFamilyHope I watch Ray and Eric videos Everytime I can, and I have the most respect for what they do for people in need. I hope Ray finishes the van so you can get it back. God luck and may God bless you. Thanks to Eric and Ray for all they do.
Run the Amsoil Signature Series oil and you will be good.
❤😊❤
You two are the best
Good luck to you guys. I'm no mechanic, but I do my own repairs & maintenance. I didn't notice any sketchy shenanigans in these videos.
And now he just rolls this footage in reverse and he has a free teardown video!
was thinking the exact same thing
Classic Eric
It's a very meticulous teardown. Never seen the waterpump handled to carefully!
So nice of you guys. Heroes don't always wear capes.
Staring at the brand new water pump, sweating profusely. Resisting the urge to chuck it in a big scrap bin.
Should has put the new water pump the the junk box, then dug around in the box, pulled it out and used it.😅
He should have at least included video of him tossing the old one in the bin!
I would have taken the original water pump and soaked in salt water and got it real nasty and then start to install it, switch camera angle and then show finishing installing with the new one
It also took quite a lot to not throw the new rails on the floor for him._
@@Zoomie61 Calm down Spielberg lol
Hi Eric, i'm still blown away by your generousity. Yourself and Ray are doing something really special for a family who needed your help. We appreciate you sharing these videos with us and i think we need to thank you for all you've done for the family....cheers
God bless you and Ray for helping those in need
Good man for helping the family in need! 🇺🇸
Great to see there are still good people out there willing to help others. Props to you and the mech whos doing the install!
Eric - On you saying " I make mistakes " ----- My dad told me when I was a teenager (after I made a mistake that he found) that the only people that say they never make mistakes are people that are either (a liar or a person that never does much) ! I watch both your channel and RainmanRays (have for a couple years) and as a 30 year US Military Veteran I am in awe that you both got together to help this family in need ! God bless you !
Thanks Eric. As someone living with motor neuron disease, I know how much this means. I love your teardown videos, they give me immense pleasure at a time when fatigue, pain and breathlessness are my constant companions. Thank you, through this Tosi Family project, for introducing me to Rainman Ray's videos, which I also love. These videos have been a delight. Thank you. Love from Rick.
Eric - What you did for the Tosi family is awesome. Thanks for the midweek entertainment.
So how many times did you pull new timing guides out of the bag, look at them and say "these are perfectly fine." and proceed to throw them into the bin? 😆
Ok, a few points. First, I love that two of my favorite UA-camrs decided to team up, and not only that, but are shining examples of how to be a good human being. Second, it's weird watching Eric put an engine together. Still enjoyable though. And lastly, it's funny seeing you deal with a timing chain tensioner without a tote on your head. Well done to you and Ray. And seeing the Tosi's comment and their gratitude makes me smile even more.👍👍
Loved the unboxing at rays 😂😂 you should have filmed it lol!
You have done a great thing for a family in need.
GOD never forgets all the good done for someone in need. THANK YOU 🙏
You’re doing a good thing brother! Helping a family in need and being more of a blessing to them than you probably know. It’s ok it’s taking a little longer. Fine example of the power of us looking out for each other! Hopefully @rainmanraysrepairs will put an upgraded aluminum housing in it! Won’t have to worry about it again!
Very generous and kind. Well done.
Dang and I was looking forward to the pin pull!! And great work on helping this family out we need more people like you and Ray!
Thank you and Ray again for doing a great act of
kindness.. you should do it again when the opportunity comes.
Thank you to you and Ray for 'paying it forward'. Blessings. 🙏
Kudos to you sir, need more good hearted and honest mechanic's like you and your friend Ray. Job very well done, hope that engine lasts a long time for that family, I'm sure they were very grateful to you and your friend.
God Bless you and Ray for your kindness to help this family in need.
This old fart appreciates what you and Ray are doing. Well done young man.
You guys are doing a great thing for the family you guys a awesome!
BRAVO Eric and Ray...We certainly need more peoples like you...Regards from Montreal, Canada...
Thank you for helping out a family with a need! Good on you. AND Ray.
Great job helping a family in need! One suggestion I have is when installing something large like that front engine cover is to use a couple of alignment studs one on either side. Just use some long bolts with the heads cut off and cut slots and for a screwdriver. your cover will go on nice and straight. We did that a lot working on big engines in class eight trucks.
I love your channel Eric and the humour that is going on all the time. I also like Ray's videos as well. You are two very special guys to collaborate on this worthy project. Best wishes to you both 🥰🇬🇧
Nice to see there are good mechanics as well as a good person who honestly wants to help those in need,
Good on you 2 Eric & Ray! Top-shelf people indeed!
I can hear the Angels singing in the background as you installed the NEW water pump. Eric, you and Ray are wonderful men to do this, I hope the people you're doing it for are thankful.
Eric finally realises what the direction switch on his tools is for.
Eric, this is a great thing that you and Ray are doing.
I just watched Ray’s unboxing video. Please tell me you made a videos while you put the engine in the crate. If you did, please show it. Hysterical. 😂😂
So good seeing you put something back together Eric and for a good cause.
so nice to see such a nice gesture, shame no new wrapping video as ray’s unboxing looked fun
Hey Eric, I hate to be the one making this comment, but that engine will leak oil from the lower oil pan. The oil will seep through the pans, to the bolts, and run down the threads. Rtv must always be applied to the inside edge of the bolts and/or, if in doubt, "circle" the bolts with rtv. I'm just a technician who's a fan looking out for you! You and Ray are awesome for helping this family!
Amazingly over engineered modern day marvels of an engine. Everyone calls them junk, but I can’t help but be astounded at how radically complex this machine was to design for such a tight envelope. The sheer number of precision vacuum cast parts is overwhelming. The tooling cost must have been astronomical for that alone. Not to exclude all the fixturing and tooling required for final machining, inspection and assembly. Wow!
Just watched Ray’s video of him unboxing this engine, lol. Good one. He’s lucky you didn’t use nails, lol.
I hope the engine lasts. It’s a very nice gesture that you and Ray are doing. Thanks Eric. When I’m ready for a 5.3 IV Gen with DOD delete I’ll contact you.
24:00 SEE how the gasket goes on the INSIDE of the bolts of cover...
20:35 The oil pan Sealant should have gone on the INSIDE of the oil pan bolts. Not the outside. (or on both sides of bolts)
It is stated so in the workshop manual and can also be seen where the old sealant line is. (prevents oil seepage via the bolt holes)
- Your truly, Euro-Tech mechanic, Oceania.
I saw that.
Too much rtv on the pan
You not only helped the Tosi Family, but you will help me in the future, too, when I go to replace some seals on my 3.6L Pentastar. Thank you, Eric, for being the awesome person that you are! And thank you to Ray, as well! You're both awesome! Keep up the great work, guys!
There are few people in the world who have an abundance of water, and don't mind filling another's pitcher. You're one of the few - and that's what makes you commendable. Bravo Eric. I said this before - if I was in your part of the country, I could totally work for a guy like you simply on principle.
Ya could call this vid...On the road again! 💯🗽🇺🇸
I had to watch this series from end to beginning just to make sure it was you doing the work. Bravo! Very nice of you and Ray.
Thanks!
Eric, what you & Ray have done is beyond words, may God Bless you all, I wish that we heard more stories of heart felt good deeds, this country and the people need it, there is so much evil that we hear of every day and with acts of kindness that you men have exhibited I see hope for many ind. Thank you men again.
You and Ray are legends for helping this family
Again, you and Ray are stand up people for doing this!
Much love my brother, it is always better to give than receive. You and Ray have a special place in all of our hearts. Thank you for bring us along with the build. I'm sure Ray will be pumped when he gets his chance finish installation of your craftsmanship.
Your reasoning for rebuilding & sending them an engine was a class move. I drive a 95 Silverado while I bought for $850 w/ over
300K on the motor which blew. I ordered a motor from the Dealer & got one that wasn't a rebuilt, I was worried about getting one
that had mixed parts, new/used by some guy that I lost that motor just out of warranty. So my new motor has 10K since I got it
in 2010. Right, I've driven about 10K in 14 yrs...... I'll have her til I die but I drive this truck b/c people on the roads do not EVER
Road Rage w/ me !! I wonder why that is..... IDKnow but I guess w/ an older model it might look like you have nothing to lose?
Great of you guys to help a family.... it is a Class Act . peace
_people on the roads do not EVER Road Rage w/ me !!_
Probably because you drive with awareness of what is going on around you, and with a bit of courtesy towards others too.
Yes Douglas, you seem to know me well..... lol, that's exactly how I drive b/c there's no benefit to getting involved in
any of these games behind the wheel. Money, Health, and possibly your freedom is on the line in normal travels but
most of these Rager's act as if this is a normal righteous way to handle things they do not like? All wrong but you're
aware of this as well. I "Expect" them & let them in/out of lanes or on/off at exits but not out of fear, b/c I don't want
to be part of getting anyone killed over being an idiot on the roads. Push really comes to shove, I will deal w/ them
but it's truly a last resort. You're a wise driver, I'm betting you are an empathetic person overall in life??
be safe & GB
I've been watching this from the beginning and I know you and Ray are stellar people. I missed this video and watched it after I saw the arrival of the engine at Ray's. I won't spoil it, but it's great to see you have a sense of humor. I'm sure Ray will have at least two more videos on this project, maybe three.
Nice job Eric, society needs more people like you!
Eric you got Ray good, he thought he got all the screws but missed 2. nice destructions for decrating. step 1 unscrew step 2 done good work love it mate.
It is absolutely awesome that you have done this for someone in desperate need, Eric. This is one of the many reasons why I am an ardent follower of your UA-cam channel.
What a great story. Been a fan of this channel for a long time. Don't know how I missed this story till now. It's Christmas 2024 and it's been a rough year for my family as well. I guess God knew I needed a feel-good story, and this fits the bill nicely. Just see the kindness you guess showed this family really helped me out. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
More clicks in this one than any disassembly. Satisfying. Thanks for doing excellent work, both of you.
I have seen you take a lot of engines apart. It’s good to see you put one together, also your not a tool snob, I like the old school clicking torque wrench - you got a good heart
Eric, you are a great humanitarian. A lot of people will be humbled by this.
Kinda Bittersweet to see the engine finally being loaded and shipped. Great Job Eric. You and Ray made a great team on this one. Keep up the great work.
Eric,
Ray and yourself are doing a great thing 😊
Well done, an important video. You are a good person, Eric.
Eric: It doesn't matter that it takes a while longer. Rushed jobs exponentiate error's potential. You are providing your best quality work on this project, and that's what counts. You put love into that engine. God Bless you for helping the Tosi Family out. You are a bona fide Good Man! 👍🏼🙏🏼✝️🕊️❤️
Between you and Ray you have big hearts!. I actually saw Ray's video. But that's how my UA-cam works! I really wanted to see the horns come up when you packed the engine up with all the screws! When I was watching I could picture you laughing! LMAO!
you are a good man helping like you did. the last 2 1/2 years i have been having a lot of health problems which are slowly ending. So many customers and family and friends reached out to help me. without the help would have lost business and would have lost my home. once a person goes thru something like i and others have been thru makes them want to help everyone that they can to pay forward. thank you for reaching out and helping this family i kinda know how they will feel.
Very nice in so many ways, seeing u assembling VS diassembing and engine, Eric! Thanks for helping a needy family out using your talents and resources! 😊😊
Sarcasm aside, thanks Eric for EVERYTHING you do & provide in your videos - educational, humor, interesting facts and insights about your business. What's often overlooked - you have a family, kids, you manage a business yet you take the time to make & spend time editing these videos for viewers - you are due for a very large THANK YOU from ALL of us who watch your videos. So when do the waterpump olympics start?
The shipping box was a mini tank. What good guys you both are!
Finally he can dig out one of the great used water pumps!
Props to you Eric and Ray
It’s different watching you putting an engine together usually you tear them down and find catastrophic failures on them but you know what you’re doing a good deed for a family and it will be paid forward god bless you Eric 🎉 P.S I bet you made that engine more reliable than Stellantis ever could
I love that u did this! I've been watching ray for a couple years & I love him. I've recently come across your channel & really enjoy what u do, even if I don't know the majority of stuff. thanks to u I am learning!
You're a good man Eric!

Great Job! Thank you for helping someone in need.
As a 2012 Pentastar owner, watching this video is like looking into my own future. Its a great reference to have, I've never seen one built like this on UA-cam before.
