- If you're a gamer, you've heard of Borderlands 2. But if you're a LAME GAMER, like ME, then you only played Call of Duty and FIFA your whole life, and missed playing Borderlands when it came out. Well, we're missing out no longer, because one of the reasons for me creating this channel is to go back and play all the games I missed. We've done Magicka, Deep Rock Galactic, and now it's time for me to dip my toes into this cell-shaded masterpiece. Let me know what other games you want me to try.

Glitches and Fixes: NPCs getting stuck (Claptrap, Pvt Jessup etc), doors not opening, objectives not updating etc.
Fix: Lower your frame rate to 30 fps. Let the NPCs do their thing, then switch it back.
The game was originally made for consoles, that at the time, were capped at 30 fps.
When the game was ported for PC, better graphics and physics capabilities weren't taken into account.

It's absurd how many quirky borderlands things change with framerate. Dialogue skips from spamming interact, claptrap Jessup, opening the gate into bloodshot stronghold, getting multiple guns from Michael Mamaril. @@Cpt_Overkill_81

You could play this game an INFINITE amount of times and it will still be good.
For a better gaming experience holding E on ammo sucks up everything you can pick up in small radius. Holding E on a shield, gun, grenade or relic automatically equips it so you don’t have to go into the inventory every time you want to equip something.
HI HERE'S A STORY EXPLANATION WITH NO SPOILERS:
Tldr there's these things in the universe called The Vaults. They're like the one piece, said to hold some kinda great power and/or riches. Commander Steele from the first game found and opened on of the vaults on pandora, leading to a substance called eridium and to appear spread throughout pandora, effecting the planet in multiple ways that you get to see throughout the story. There are these people called vault hunters (which you play as in all the games) who want to find and open it. Jack (The CEO of Hyperion, one of the gun manufacturers in the game) found ANOTHER vault on Pandora while his company mined the eridium. Lilith specifically mentions it messing with her powers because she's a Siren, which are basically alien women with magic powers (you can play as one in every game, the one you can play as in BL2 is named maya). Sirens have a connection to eridium, which is a whole other can of worms. The whole game, story wise, is basically running around Pandora helping the crimson raiders take down Jack and his rain of tyranny on pandora, which you get to see get increasingly wild throughout the game.
SIDE NOTES: The game has some really interesting lore and an amazing storyline. I would hella recommend playing the commander lilth dlc and the expansions thingies bc they're very fun and silly. Also, the mecromancer is Gaige, one of the dlc characters.
I put so much faith in that no spoilers thank you for not breaking my trust 😭 preciate the lore too, this game makes me wanna go back and play the original

Heads up if you play the first game, it is A LOT more janky and laid back than the 2nd game. Chill and still hella funny at times but a major downgrade in almost every aspect. Story wise, it only just introduces a small few things within the world. It has good atmosphere, but there's a LOT of reading you gotta do to get the full story context for missions and such; plus character dialog is basically excitnct outside of story missions. If you're looking into playing more borderlands games after 2 I'd hella recommend the Pre-Sequel and Tales from the borderlands (stay away from new tales lol) (Also play tales before the Lilith dlc bc they're connected!)
Uhm you kinda lied. The eridium was not from the vault jack opened. Jack hadnt opened any vaults yet. The "vault" marcus was talking about was the one from the first game, which caused eridium to be created, and jack came to pandora afterwards for the eridium, and his eridium mining caused the vault to be found. Kinda important detail in the story.

I have been playing bl2 ever since I was 6. I'm much older and still play it. It's nice to see new players explore and learn my fav game!

Man also wish he could play bl1 fist but I understand why he played bl2 first probably for the best. Bl1 is one of my top games still since it is far more simple bl2 gets very meta guns only at higher levels or OP.

Also two quick tips
If you ever get into the gunner seat of a car by accident, press C and you switch to the driver seat without getting out of the car first.
Second, if you ever find a cool gun that you immediately want to equip, you can hold E while picking it up and it will replace the gun you currently hold.. This way you won't have to go into a menu first to change it.

for the cat, try leaving out a sock so it can get used to your smell while you're not there and also try looking away from it and let it get comfortable approaching you

For goliaths, as they evolve they actually get better and better loot, so it is a decent strat to headshot one and then chill back while it levels up
It isn't just their loot that improves as they level up. Each time a raging Goliath kills an enemy it doubles the exp value the player would have gained if they had killed it, and adds that total to it's own exp value when you kill it. IE the Goliath kills something worth 100 xp. When you kill the Goliath you will get the xp it's worth plus an extra 200 xp. They don't have a cap on this bonus xp that I've seen. In theory you can lure one around a map and help it kill everything. Then betray it for massive xp gains.

This playthrough is pure gold. The pacing you gave with the editing is just perfect, you can actually follow along the quests and see what’s going on in the game, which is really nice imo.
Also i’m gonna throw this because this might help (even though you may have already figured that out) : you can see side-quests as a way to help you level up your gear or match your xp level to the one of the main quest. Because the xp and gear merely gathered during the main quest aren’t always sufficient to continue pushing through it, picking some SQs here and there along your journey is a great idea.

Hey im someone who has 9k + hours on borderlands and half are on bl2, I saw your first video and love seeing this community grow
Some tips of you want some
-(almost) all unique named baddies can drop a legendary weapon that has some cool special effect to it (most odds are a 1/10) and you can save quit to menu and press continue to try again
-each manufacture has something special about there guns, Jacobs has bonus crit, torgue does explosive, maliwan is good with elemental dam, tediore explodes like a grenade when thrown, bandit has large mags, Hyperion gets better accuracy the longer you hold the trigger, vladof has high fire rate, and dahl has the burst/auto/semi when ads or non ads.
-guns can roll with different parts on them which give them a prefix and a suffix (thats a bit advanced but just a good thing to know)
-classmods help so much with skill tree builds they will allow some skills to be 9/5 instead of the cap being 5/5 which is huge
-DLC is actually worth it in this game, some of the best dlc in a game ive played
And a bonus tip, EXPLORE!! it wont always reward you but sometimes it will and be worth it!! Dont worry about clearing quest areas before you get a quest as well as it is just bonus EXP
Pro tip: If you hold E on a weapon you pick up it will go straight to your hands, if you hold E on ammo/currency it will pick up all ammo/currency you can.
So a few points about character progression-
Each skill tree focuses on a different aspect of gunplay or melee. As you put points into your choice of skill tree, it’ll advance to the next row unlocking access for those skills. The end of each skill tree(and in most cases one or two perks in the center) has a penultimate skill that can drastically change how your build plays. For example, one of axtons skills lets him place his turret pretty much anywhere instead of at his feet. One of zer0s skills lets him reset his decoy so that he can stay invisible for a long time(there’s actually an achievement for staying invisible for an entire minute). Once you get to max level you’ll have enough skill points to get two skills trees maxed out. You can always re-spec at a customization station if you aren’t enjoying your current build.
Different characters can specialize in specific things, zer0 and Krieg are the only two characters with dedicated melee skill trees for example. Axton can make great use of grenades, rockets and all manor of explosive weapons. Maya can choose a heavy elemental damage build. Salvador just does Salvador things…(it’s a good time).
Zer0’s three skill trees focus on sniping and critical damage, decepti0n(your hologram) and buffs for both melee and ranged, and melee respectively. Melee builds are probably the toughest to pull off as they are MUCH more gear dependent than other builds and that gear isn’t as common and is just a harder play style in a game focused on shooting. For example, the best items for a zer0 melee build come from the pirate DLC. There aren’t melee weapons per se but there are guns with a melee modifier, usually indicated by a bayonet of some kind. There also aren’t any melee ‘combos’ like in GoW.
I’m really enjoying watching someone experience this masterpiece for the first time. I hope you keep playing brother as the game only gets better from here. If you have any questions feel free to ask I’m sure there are lots of people in the comments that can answer anything you might ask.
The side quests can be a bit repetitive but the exp they give, plus some give crazy useful gear, makes it a good idea to pick them up as you go
still at the start of the video so im not sure if you've discovered it yet or not. but different gun manufacturers have different "gimmicks" with their gun such as:
TORGUE: explosive bullets / explosive damage
Dahl: usually some sort of burst when scoped, single shot when firing at the hip type shit
jackobs: gunslinger kind of weapons as you've already found out
Maliwan: elemental weapons in which their bullets do lightning, slag, fire, or corrosion damage
Bandit: have really high magazine capacities
hyperion: gun gets more accurate as you keep shooting it
Tediore: youve see theirs already
Don't forget Vladof with their automatic weapons.
Also rarer weapons can be elemental just Maliwan weapons deal more elemental damage.
about Zer0's skills and the skilltrees in general, yes Ambush gives 4% PER LEVEL. most skills can be leveled x5, so Ambush should be thought of as a 20% boost. it's great for exiting deception
Also the math in this game is just fucked 20% on some things is just a 20% but on others it boosts absolutely everything including the other boosts

First things first: Loving this blind playthrough! Ive played BL2 on and off for a decade now, and seeing you rediscover some of my favourite things is such a joy! Also the jerk reaction i get when you run past a chest or some secret i know of ;P
A few tips if you want to push the game further than you already do; (spoiler-free)
1. Most sidequests give cool rewards, but are not needed for progression. The game expects you to do the occational sidequest, especially if you feel like the mainquest is getting though.
2. Every quest has a lvl, and the rewards follow the lvl. In early game weapons get better real fast so you're going to find yourself swapping your loadout often (even legendaries only last 5-10lvl normally)
3. Most 'Named' enemies (bosses and mini-bosses) can be farmed after quest completion by saving to main meny, re-entering the game, and visiting the area you fought them earlier. This is normally not needed but a nice way to explore the whacky loot and xp grind.
4. In one area in this video you fought enemies that were a few lvl higher than you. Thats a hint that you may be in an area you shouldnt just yet. Many deaths occur there and people end up just hitting a wall for a long time.
5. For this specific spot you ended the episode i'd recommend revisiting Doc mercy for his loot (1/10 drop chance on each kill) or taking Lilliths sidequest from Sanctuary and Killing that miniboss for his loot (1/10 here aswell)((this one you may laugh at more since youre american))

Haven't fully watched yet, but glad you made another video. I haven't seen anyone with genuine new reactions to the borderlands series in a while and it's nice to see someone starting fresh.
Tip: there's multiple hidden places for loot and even puzzles to explore, and if you want to explore an area better do it with a side mission, I've beat the game multiple times and I'm trying not to spoil shit for you soo I'm gonna stop
All guns manufactured by the same company all have the same special effects.
For tediore, you throw the gun that then explodes when you reload. The more ammo that's left in the mag when you reload the more damage the explosion does.
It makes me so fucking happy to see new people playing this blind nowadays. I hope you continue this series!

Hey bro, the best advice I can give you with dealing with animals that don’t know you is that just be patient and respect the cats/animals personal space because they are most likely scared or hesitant about everything and everyone so just take it slow and just simply sit near the animal (or in your case a cat) and don’t try to force pet or pickup the animal and eventually it will come to you(as long as you keep providing it with food and or water) and after that your gold pony boy.
And if that doesn’t work then the animal just doesn’t f with you and it’s all good. Remember we are not but just a blink in eyes of the universe, not important or significant just like every other species on earth so be humble and remember, ALL life is precious…All life.

Also be careful. I am a cat guy and my neighbor likes to feed strays. There is one that will come right up to me. He wants to be petted. While sitting on my swing in my front porch he came up to me, got up on the swing, got on my lap and i was petting him for 10 minutes or so. Then out of nowhere he bit tf out of my thumb. Like was latched onto it. To the damn bone. It got infected, i have a scar... So yeah, just be careful. I love cats and just know cats can be bitches lol. They just don't give af sometimes
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the skill at the bottom of each skill tree is typically a major augment that changes or upgrades your skill in some way. You can only get enough levels for 1 or 2 in the base game, so it's worth looking at them, then picking which one(s) you want to work towards.
Anyway, it's surprisingly fun to watch and listen to you play this. I've played borderlands 2 so much that I just can't do it anymore, so seeing it from fresh eyes is nice. Glad you're having fun!

Each gun manufacturer has a different gun effect.
Jacobs: Pure damage and critical hit damge increase.
Hyperion: Recoil stability is high and lowers the more you shot, instead of getting worse.
Torgue: exposive bullets.
Dahl: burst fire when zoomed, 1 shot when hip firing.
Tediore: explodes when reloaded.
Maliwan: Always does elemental damage.
Vladof: full automatic.
Bandit: high ammo magazine.
I hope you see this and it's helpful.
Fun fact about those Tediore guns, when you reload-throw them, they do more damage the more bullets are left in it when you reload! It’s so awesome to see someone having this much fun experiencing BL2 for the first time in the year 2024 :)

The vaults are a big part of all the games don’t wanna spoil anything in case you wanna play the others. Just a tip tho keep a eye out for unique enemies or ones with unique names. Also I can’t believe you found a railer at level 10 on your first ever playthrough lol

The Vault opening was the result of the first game. In the original borderlands, you played as Roland, Lilith, and two other people you haven't met yet, and the main objective is to find and open The Vault.
Fun fact: The more ammo there is in the mag of a weapon that reloads like a grenade the more damage it does when it explodes
Just fyi special enemies will drop special dedicated items in their loot pool, for example doc mercy has a low chance to drop a very good gun that will only drop from him (except from world drops) but it will take a lot of attempts to get it to drop (to farm an enemy you will need to save and exit, rejoin, kill the special enemy, repeat I am telling you this because you probably wouldn't have found out otherwise. Anyways love the series already and cant wait for more ❤
Tip from a fellow vault hunter, try to focus one skill tree first, i noticed you had points scattered across different trees. you wont be able to access the good stuff in the trees until you spec into them. what i do is focus one skill until its maxed then move down. thats why that one skill only gave you a 4% bonus is bc its not fully upgraded. thank you for blessing us with this vid!
It's super fun and refreshing to see someone playing one of your most favorite games ever for the first time. Best advice I can give is to keep doing what you're doing. Taking the side quests you feel like doing and exploring areas whenever you go "Ooh, that looks interesting." is the best way to go about playing this game. Trying to do every little thing you possibly can will burn you out cause this game is *huge*, so just do a few side stuff then get back to the main story.
I heard people talking about how the humor doesnt hold up today so i had to look this video up... we've all played it so many times i think we forget what it was like to play this game for the first time, i must have almost 20 playthroughs of this game. Good to see this, back in high school maxing out all the characters. Good times
dude i am so excited for the next video on borderlands 2, i love this game with all of my heart and it has been a blast to see you play through it for the first time
Couple tips about this game:
1. Each gun manufacturer has their on specific trait that all of their guns share, I’ll let you figure out what each one is for yourself but I’m sure you’ve already noticed some
2. Most of the bosses you can farm to get certain legendary weapons that each do their own crazy thing, for example doc mercy can be farmed to get a pistol that has infinite ammo
3. You can make an insanely crazy melee build with zero if you find the right gear and level into the right skill points!
There are so opportunities for fun. Loads of different builds you can do, lots of different loadouts, different challenge runs, and so much more. And Zer0 can be op as hell if you perk into him right, along with having the right gear.
Lilith and Roland are playable characters in the first borderlands, along with two characters you’ll meet later. Really cool how they brought them back as npcs in the sequel. There is a playable siren with different powers from lilith fyi.
this game has a serious rabbit hole effect like the story gets you on the hook and the gameplay reels you in and next thing you know youre farming bosses for a gun with a specific grip and sight combo or prefix ive got like 3k hours sunk in at this point
If you wanna know more about gun parts and their stats, without being overwhelmed with specifics, this will help
Each gun can spawn with different parts. Barrel, Grip, stock, sights, and an accessory. Each manufacturer has their own parts, and each part has its own changes to a specific stat.
Some manufacturers dont create some weapon types, so they wont have any parts in that category.
Parts will usually enhance the specific stat the manufacturer specializes in, but can also decrease its counterpart. Ex Tediore enhances reload speed, but decreases mag size
If your grip matches the manufacturer's gun (Jakobs grip on a Jakobs gun), it will increase the damage and mag size slightly, on top of whatever is being changed.
Every gun has an accessory slot, but doesnt always have one on it. Accessories usually change the first part of the name of the weapon. (13:30 The bandit shotgun has the prefix "Drummed", which is the mag size accessory for bandit shotguns. The Jakobs AR prefix is "Slicked", which is the no bonus/accessory prefix for Jakobs AR's)
Unless you wanna deep dive into what each grip does, on each weapon type, that should be a fairly basic

But I'd say thats fairly unnecessary for early game, they wont matter too much until late game. But its nice to have if you wanna learn
The vault opening they talk about is the one you open in the first game, and this basically released the eridium and stuff, it was talked about in the intro. But don't worry they will explain everything when its relevant. Really enjoying your playthrough, excited for future uploads
When you popped the head off of the Goliath in one shot it brought back memories of me telling my mates to aim for the head to level it and they'd aim for the body and say "nothing happened"
this game has a mechanic where if your shield is full you cannot die in one hit. hope that helps,
also you wouldn't expect it but shotguns have a hidden effect of being pretty good at hitting birds,
there is a sell all "trash" hotkey and you can star or mark as trash items with a hotkey in your inv so starred items cant be sold on accident,
each time you go down you get less time to kill an enemy, after enough downs the bar goes down in a split second lol,
cars are strong but you get MUCH less exp for killing things in a vehicle
I can’t imagine not speedrunning the first play through anymore, it’s so cool to see you dig through greens. Waiting to see you on uvhm, and then your second character and then the mods… hope you enjoy the game man it’s got a lot to give.
I have like 8000 hours in this franchise, I’ve seen about everything there is to see with borderlands. Yet your recent videos on the game have been some of the most enjoyable content I’ve seen for this game in years. I think it’s a mix of a true spoiler free experience topped with your passion and excitement to play. I can’t wait until you get to the end of the game.

Real talk, I haven't watched your channel in the past, but having played about 2k hours, watching you, a generally chill guy first viewing my favourite game ever giving me fresh appreciation for it may be my two favourite videos I've watched in a while
Haven’t seen many people touch on your feelings regarding the skill trees, so thought I would. You’re right in saying some skills are simply percentage increases. However, your character’s power will grow exponentially as you continue through the game. Many of the percentage increases can be upgrade multiple times, so while the first is 4% the last may be 20%. It’s not the most exciting, but upgrading these lower tier skills allow you to get to the end of the skill tree where the good stuff is. Combining later game skills with certain class mods and weapons/shields will make your build ridiculously strong.
This is one of the most pure play througs I’ve ever seen. If you continued to play this series, it would have a death grip on me.
Fun fact! Zero has b0re, and can annihilate many bosses and raids, look up videos to set it up! Sometimes it takes a while but the 1 shot is so, satisfying. Best part is its not locked behind years of playing, you could make a 1 shot build for 3 out of the 6 characters within a day of starting them!

Definitely after some grenade skips and early grinding in dlc like son of craw or commander Lilith. You get atleast level 5 before killing knuckle dragged and up to like 13 if you really want to grind it out in the digitsruct peak. Also should we tell him about weapons like the Lascaux.

First game, the 4 characters you played as were Lilith, Roland, Mordecai, and Brick. You have met the first 2 already. That game ended with them opening a vault that released Eridium all over the planet. Now you are looking for another vault.
I wish I could go back and play this series for the first time. All the games are great, but 2 is definitely my favorite. Its cool to see someone get excited about this stuff again.
Ambush at level 5 adds 20% increased damage to opponents from behind. The damage is multiplicative and not additive. So its quite powerful.
By the way if you hold the E you equip weapons directly to your hands, and if do it to ammo you'll pick all the ammo available.

Borderlands 1 and 2 were easily some of my favorite games during the Xbox 360 era. its fun to see someone newer to the games take them up even if they show their age a little bit.

keep an eye out for what level an enemy is. they get more damage resistance the higher they are above you. if they have a skull next to their health bar that means they are above the intended level curve and you *might* need to go somewhere else for now. you do get bonus xp if you can kill them anyway, its not always impossible
for the cat, from my experience, as long as you can came close to them, you can befriend them, i usually let them sniff my hand first, if they then rub their head or body to your hand afterward, that's my cue that they would let me pet them, i usually start with the big slow stroke from head to the tail, after that, well, i didn't think about it, it's my fav way to pet them :v
if they bite you when you pet them, don't immediately pull your hand, that's usually how they play, unless if it starts with a hissing and angry gestures, a wild kitten bite through my nail when i tried to grab them from car's exhaust, if it's to painful for you, grit your teeth and don't move until the cat stop biting, they will eventually calibrate their bite level to some level, well, that's as far as my knowledge goes as a random guy that tries to pet cats when he see them
I saw the first part but once I saw a second I knew I had to subscribe. I truly hope to see this become a series for you. I've played more than 2000 hrs over 3 different consoles. I've even had to restart from scratch. I hope you enjoy this game as much as the rest of us.
No spoilers, just precisions on the lore questions you asked to get you caught up. So essentially, Angel (the AI girlfriend) is a character that helps you know what to do in the first game and she does the same in this one.
You might have indeed missed it from the intro, but you're a vault hunter, you're searching for the vault cause "here'in lies treasure" and Jack, the big bad guy, ends up in possession of the key that let's you open the vault between borderlands 1 and 2.
Badass levels are basically small increases in basic things that are shared across all characters you make, so if you were to make a new siren, your BAR (Badass Rank) would be the same as your Zer0.
The badass rank is more of a thing for people who grind the game and no life it, the bonuses only get lower. Its kind of just an addon, as you can choose do disable it if you want like all the challange runners do
love seeing someone experience this game for the first time, looking forward to following this series and this channel in the future
also, not sure if this has been mentioned but when you are looking at the skill trees, look to the bottom to see the more unique skills to see what you want to work toward
you can always respec your whole skill tree at the stations where you edit how your character looks, there is one in sanctuary near the bounty board and fast travel station
Borderlands 2 is genuinely one of my favourite games ever made, it's awesome to see people enjoy it for the first time.
I think the upgrade with the DLC is worth it, some great content and you can play as Krieg the psycho. He is amazing. He is fun. He is the conductor of the poop train.
Fun fact. If i'm not mistaken This dope AF sniper rifle with burst and fire that you find(this purple rarity) is also an E-tech gun. Which mean that you found e-tech before game introduce it.
Just fyi if you didn’t realize, almost every perk in your skill tree levels up to 5 times in total so 5 skillpoints each to get the max out of each skill, and there’s super awesome skills that do sick stuff further down the skill tree so make sure to read all the skills 💪
just a little tipp.. if you hold E whilst targeting a weapon you instantly equip it so you dont have to pick it up and select it in you invenory everytime to equip it
I enjoy watching new people play this game.
It's interesting watching how they solve problems and approach enemies when they don't know what to do.

Quick side note: the weapon you got at 34:39 is not exactly a purple quality/epic weapon. It has a pinkish shade to it and is called an E-tech. In term of rarity, i'd say this is somewhere near the legendary rarity.
And lastly, Zer0 (your character) only speaks in haiku (5-7-5 syllables poems) which is a cool detail
E-Techs are indeed really rare, but are pretty bad. Like the Eridian weapons in BL1.
fun fact: if you actually struck below the sturnum you would have to aim close to the head and get an over 12 inch incision to even come close to striking the coronary artery, dr zed may not be a great doctor but on the world of pandora he's probably the best living MD on that hemisphere, beyond that he realistically doesn't even need to be, after all they got the cure for everything, fruit punch in a used needle.(also no i didn't forget about tannis, i just don't think she got a doctorate in medicine)
You playing through this fresh is like replaying it for the first time. It's a great watch. Im looking forward to the next one
Hint#1: always do sidequests! always do challanges! this is how you get experience points early in the game, level up and develop your skills.
Hint#2: for the best game experience, always read and always listen -- at least in the first play trough.
Hint#3: all vault hunter classes play extemely different. give it a try.
Hint#4: always look for synergies when chosing gear and skills. this is even more important than weapons.
Hint#5: the good stuff is only unlocked in ultimate vaulthunter mode (usually third playtrough).
Concerning your cat ralationship: you cannot tame a cat! you have to build trust! they may chose your company if you are respecting their freedom. but they will always have things their own way. a cat's personality is exact the opposite of a dog's personality. I also recommend to learn about cat's body language, especially the whipping tail. that might save you some scratches.
having played borderlands 1 on release when i was 9 years old its so weird seeing someone figure everything out on BL2 for the first time. 1000s of hours *not* wasted :D
