To those complaining the team is taking too long I'd say this: I started following the Black Mesa when the two OG teams joined forces, I was in my late teens, between then and BM release on Steam, I partied a lot during my 20s, then got married, had several children, graduated from college and bought a house... The wait was worth it, so please, let these fellas cook, the game will come out when is ready now just remember what the great Shigeru Miyamoto once said : A Delayed Game Is Eventually Good, but a Rushed Game Is Forever Bad.
This feels a lot like Black Mesa: Blue Shift. It even has details taken straight from Black Mesa, but this is more of a reimagine instead of a remake designed for Black Mesa.
4:39 Nice to see the team tried to keep it as close as possible to the one from "Black Mesa". You know what will be hilarious? Good luck for you all!
Even if it is going to come out eventually, I seriously doubt Valve is going to release it in 2025. The game is still rumored to be in early testing phase. Alyx was officially announced in 2019 and was released a year later. But to be fair, OBM might be in development long enough that that HL3 might actually be released first
@@quakethedoombringerAlyx was announced 4 months before it was released, less than half a year. They could announce HLX in August and release it in December. I take it some of the levels arent quite final in the gameplay teaser? Because i noticed some area were very 1:1 to the original by layout and how the player go from one place to another, which I hope that would change so it didnt feel like playing the same game under different engine.
only issue i really have is that some things look jank, like the alien animations or the deagle not having any recoil at all. Besides that, the game looks fantastic!
Thanks for the new Tripmine Studios video, I've been waiting for your game in all languages of the world for a very long time, from English to the Japanese version of the Operation Black Mesa game menu, I'm even waiting for the soundtrack to appear in the chapters, especially Crocodile Tears and so on. As a teenager, I watched your videos and listened to Hundred Miles, and I loved it so much that I listened to it before going to bed and fell asleep peacefully. Thank you EvilGoodGuy developer and thank you to the entire Tripmine Studios team. (♥´∀`)/
@mrshephard6617 thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately, crocodile tears, along with the other music from many many years ago, will not be in the final game because its copyright does not include commercial products. I just love it so much that i had to include it in the video lol
i remember seeing articles by their graphics developers with of their progress of just making the csgo source engine branch updated. it's definitely gon take a long while with the team going in and out. as long as they show they are working on the game it'll be alright because of this problem that a lot of source engine games not made by valve just never see the light of day and those games just so happen to be the coolest things you've ever seen.
Something that bothers me is little creature with blades as hands spitting darts. Particularly the animation not the creature it self. It walks like a robot with the stabilizer. I hope we will see some pelvis movement and up and down movement of main body mass to avoid this stabilizer effect that occurs right now. If its not finished version ten ignore this comment and keep up god work! You are awesome guys! Huge respect!
Don't think it would be released in 2025? Great work 👏 had no idea you was that good at the environmental stuff I'm pretty horrible at it. I tried using geae or something like that to make a large map and 4 hours I had mountains, rivers, lakes, grass but my problem was making the water differently then land when you enter it I ended up scraping the whole thing. Also 3d art sucks dude who made the ship n stuff has got patience
It's my baby it took many months to gestate, I had a blast working on it though. Maybe got a little carried away, but it's the first impression players will have of the game, he final sequence, and players will get to explore it in two different crash sites so i didn't want to leave it bare.
About the weapons, after recently playing through the original opposing force, I noticed a certain...issue. That is the fact that the sniper and the 'SAW' machinegun were in...kinda awkward weapon sections? For example, the sniper rifle that is supposed to replace the cross bow, you'd expect it to be in the same place as the cross bow right? In slot number three, right with the mp5 and the shotgun, but NO. It was moved all the way to the same slot with the saw and the...displacer cannon, making it kinda awkward when you were gunning down something up close with the shottie, and wanted to switch to a sniper to headshot something further. The machine gun also felt for me to be where the rocket launcher was, but as I said before, NO. So I'd hope that this issue could be adressed before release.
this shit looks clean bruh, I'm not even done with original hl1 yet but I'm really close (interloper) and this has me really excited. Not even sure if I should play the original or just wait for the remaster lol. Probably will play the original so that I can compare the experiences
This look so good might probably never look back at opposing force agian but that game is really good at one time at this time even same with half life original and blue shift original but like about remake still the classic we once knew but way better
Why would the Osprey need that much model detail in the first place if it's going to be seen only in the intro where the player has a fixed camera position with degree-locked free-look? Is the intro sequence gonna let the player wander up and down the isle of the Osprey or something? Why in the world did the cockpit need any polygons at all? Seems more like it was some sort of work-wasting flex, or doubled as a quiet talent scouting method so the modeler could show other talent he meant business with his work ethic and wanted help on the project, or a worst-case scenario, the model was taken from elsewhere and simply spruced up and re-textured, which makes it far less impressive. The model renders look gorgeous. Particularly the xen tree, jump pads, and tentacles. The xen trees even have skin folds on them, which is literally anatomically required for how the xen tree moves and stretches when it lunges, meaning whoever modeled it has a really solid understanding of anatomical functions in general. The tentacles look better than Black Mesa's (which they should, frankly), and the jump pad looks like it was modeled with clear thought in mind as to how the concept of a biological spring-pad would look and function with rapid-inflating skin sacs. The gameplay teasers seem to showcase levels that are falling into the same trap as many remakes try to do where the environments are needlessly dark or misty or dingy simply because the "realism" excuse defaults to that assumption that that type of environment would look more like that irl... but if everything is dark and dingy for presentation, it ends up negatively impacting gameplay and overall tone if it's done too often. I saw this same issue with Black Mesa: H.E.C.U. Dark areas in the original Opposing Force were designed dark to compliment or outright require night vision to navigate. The iconic blue pool ichthyosaur room from 7:10 feels like the biggest offender. They attempted to incorporate some blue, but the whole room is just unbelievably dark and dingy like it's a horror game trying to hide a shallow budget behind overly moody lighting or something. Tone through lighting is tough to get right in level design, but I am so tired of seeing everything being splotched out or misted up or darkened to the point your brain is really only processing a fraction of the environment around you on screen at any given moment, and all because "but realism, and SPOOKI!!!" as the main defense for it. Lastly, I know the narrator was literally explaining out loud how some things showcased in gameplay are more done than others DURING this exact sequence of footage, but since I don't know what is and isn't considered done by the team, I figured it's still worth critiquing anyway as a precaution. The animations for the pit drones are inconsistent. They walk stiff and somewhat janky, almost robotic, yet when they attack it's so rapid that it's cartoonish, like suddenly their whole body weighs 80% less than it did while they were walking and they flail their arms in a movement so weirdly spastic that it looks like it is basically disregarding the laws of physics a bit with a creature that size. This is a worrying contrast to the remarkable attention to detail and realistic understanding of fantasy creature anatomy employed with the model renderings. The pit drone spike trail particles need to be reduced a fair bit as well. I understand they are made green to make them easier to see, but the particles being green could confuse the player into thinking the attack has a toxic component like a bullsquid's, and the particle effects themselves are a bit too abundant in general as they fly off the projectile. Pit Drone's were scary in the original because they were low to the ground and *fast*. Either you were dodging a high-damage biological crossbow bolt barrage, or you were backpedaling while they sprinted up on you for crazy melee damage. Those are the core elements that really need to be nailed down for pit drone encounters. I really hope they don't end up playing like knock-off antlion spitters from hl2 ep2. They need to be hyper-aggressive glass cannons that jolt the player into repositioning themselves in a panic for basically every confrontation. That's what made them a very serious threat the more of them there were in a group in the original Opposing Force. Barnacle tongues should only latch onto the bone of the ragdoll that functions as its head, not its hip. Even if the creature touched the tongue with its arm, it still makes more sense to just have the tongue snap to the creature's head bone, then the creature turns to a ragdoll, then it gets pulled up straight and clean like is required for how it would be devoured by the barnacle anyway. Also... is it just me or does the alien grunt have like... lady legs? Like, look at them. They are weirdly tall and a bit too slender for how top-heavy the alien grunt is. They really need to look beefier. Overall, I have high hopes for this.
Amazing video, I really like how it's going! The way the electric zapped that zombie at 6:51 looks strange, but the tesla effect on the corpse afterwards is cool.

I didn't like how dark Black Mesa's lighting was, compared to OG HL1. But this is even more darker. Ur making Half life expansion packs remake, not doom 3.
@@Marine_2010 I want to say that Black Mesa have infinite flashlight, because you can't see sh*t without it. I hope that's not the case with this game. I don't want to play a whole game with night vision always on.

that's a different group
@HearMeLearn Different Group?
@@void_official404 Operation Black Mesa isn't made by the same people that worked on Black Mesa
@MazdoTheWolf Oh, i was talking about the main Black Mesa campaign xen levels
the houndeye looks weird to me
When will this game will be released?
still work in progress
Amazing video, I really like how it's going!
The way the electric zapped that zombie at 6:51 looks strange, but the tesla effect on the corpse afterwards is cool.
i thought this project practically died after they kicked the dude that held everything together for transphobia
lmao
Damn , what's the lore?
I am afraid of trans people.
tell us the transphobia lore!
@@Thrackerzod8 evilgoodguy made some remarks and demeaned a trans dev, got kicked off the team. turns out he was the glue that held hecu collective together and numerous other devs ended up leaving
now theres 11 dudes working on OBM, apparently some are from guard duty
By the way have you play the Black Mesa ?
w mod?!
Is it using the Source engine?
@@KatalushiKutemo-fx3mr yes
Im I crazy or does some about the movement look off ?
@@HOODRAT-jy3wb it could be because some of the weapons are in the wrong position. Or just because of how the person is playing.
@ yeah definitely its a really cool project nonetheless
Unreal engine 5?

I simply cannot believe that there are still people who believe that Operation Black Mesa will ever be released. Hell, some even claim to be excited lol
The mod you're looking for is called Half Life FUBAR and I only hope it won't go the O: BM way
is there gonna be an option to use these animations? cause im gonna be honest i think they look fantastic. ua-cam.com/video/mkwIbQJAJpw/v-deo.htmlsi=TTyPmCmpiR7u4HKt
Those animations no longer exist.
@@EvilGoodGuy :( awww. well thats a bit poopy, what happened to them?
@@francis5284 the animator replaced them
@@EvilGoodGuy What'd he do that for?
@@francis5284 He didn't like them
I didn't like how dark Black Mesa's lighting was, compared to OG HL1. But this is even more darker. Ur making Half life expansion packs remake, not doom 3.
Half-Life 1 was always a dark horror game, Half-Life 2 ruined everything.
@Marine_2010 I mean lighting, not dark story. Play HL1 and you'll see what I mean.
@@3axapTvThe lighting there is also gloomy by 1998 standards.
@@Marine_2010 I want to say that Black Mesa have infinite flashlight, because you can't see sh*t without it. I hope that's not the case with this game. I don't want to play a whole game with night vision always on.
@@3axapTvand without a flashlight it’s quite visible, you’re probably blind.
Cant wait but what is the controversy in the project? All i know is that one dev was a jerk
