This is the greenest tree in the public park in San Jose, CA, despite the summer drought. I got a grown plant from Etsy today.

The Chilopsis Linearis I got from Las Pilitas arrived by mail and it is much bigger and healthier.

These are new to our city, Nanaimo B.C.. they survived a very cold snap where many other plants did not. It’s very pretty and a welcome change to the old stand bys!

They are certainly a beautiful tree, a bit messy though. I have one in our courtyard in the front of our house. I have flagstone with grass instead of mortar between the stones. When they drop their flowers it takes a bit of work to get them up. I will water the grass, wait a few minutes, and use the blower to blow them out. The grass really likes to be cleaned out, I have a good collection area to contain them. Pick them up and on the compost pile they go.

Beautiful! I’m trying to convince my spouse to plant a couple of these. She thinks they’re for a desert landscape and they wouldn’t work in our English cottage garden. I saw one in my neighborhood and there were at least 5 hummingbirds flying around it.

I'm really surprised that these trees can handle a European winter

@@RingxWorld I think their 'English' garden is in the US, but this tree should be fine in SE England with good drainage as it rarely goes below -10c

Can I grow one in a pot? I'd need to bring it into the greenhouse in winter, so, need it potted.

I have 100 going in on my 3.5 acer lot this year. Should help with the wind and look nice doing it.

What is the difference between between the desert willow and desert orchid? Wouid either be a good candidate by a pool but set further back? Thank you!

Can I transplant a 2 yr old desert willow tree? Its about 6 ft tall. I'd do it when it was dormant, and cut it back to about 3 ft tall, and aim to get a good square foot of root ball...is that possible? Or would I kill it?
