Love your video. The honesty of what worked and what didn’t (especially on how NOTHING can work if you don’t like the colour of the cover) was refreshing. :) I thought i was the only one who thinks the colour of the cover is just as important as the inside

Thank you very much!! 🥰 it means a lot to me! I stopped bullshitting myself and forcing myself to keep doing things that simply don't work. Haha yes I totally agree that the cover matters equally, and a lot of people think so too. Just imagine having to write into a journal daily, that you don't even want to look at because the color is yucky 😂

If the color of the cover makes a difference, you're just kidding yourself if you think a bullet journal is going to help you get anywhere in life.

Aww thank you very much!! 🥰 Your life doesn't need to be in a specific way to enjoy a simple and useful tool like the bullet journal. Just writing down daily activities as to-do's can help so much with realizing that even tho one doesn't feel like they have done many big things during their day, the little things actually add up and matter! The small things and the self care things also count as being productive! ❤️✨

Loved this. a great video on what worked and what didn't with your bujo. I personally use Ryder Carroll's style he showed originally.
But I do agree with your thoughts on colour. it does matter to me too, so I definitely check out the colour before buying😊. I mean you won't feel like using it, if you don't even like seeing it!

I just started a bujo this year (kinda) and I’m on the same boat as you. I was dazzled by the big A5 journals because I love creativity too but it’s far too big. I always used moleskins journals for sketching and I’m in love with the paper weight and that’s what I ended up using. The only downside is that the moleskin bullet journal has very thin paper I think 70gsm, so I went with the blank Art Collection notebooks. Its working out so far but I think only because I wrote so smalll 😅 My drafting classes at Uni came in handy

If you have a brown paper bag or craft paper lieing around, you can cover the yellow notebook. You can probably do the same with scrapbooking paper in a color you really like since the notebook is so small.

ok so, A6 as a paper format is 10,5 × 14,8 cm. If you want to print something and glue it into the A6 Leuchtturm journal, the paper should be 9 x 14,7 cm (that's the size I have when I measure one page on an open spread).
The part on the page that is dotted, is 8 x 13 cm. I hope that helped! 🥰✨

I simplified my life massively, and probably save more than one hundred hours per year, just by throwing away my bullet journal and buying a good planner. To me, the need to make calendars, to make spreads, and then to do all the other crap it takes to fill out a bullet journal just got to the point where it was silly.
The simple fact is that nearly everyone wastes countless hours keeping a bullet journal, and then countless more decorating them. Why anyone would spend a minute decorating a bullet journal makes no sense to me, and tells me they aren't serious about getting anywhere in life.
We only get so much time in this life. We can use this time wisely and productively, or we can fiddle it away putting strips of washi take on paper. There's a planner for every type of person, except one who has so much unused time that fill it out by drawing things a planner already has. P lanners work just as well as bullet journals. Better, actually, and you never, ever have to draw your own calendar.
As for the color of the cover, don't buy a color you don't like, or just get over it. If the color of the cover bothers you that much, you don't need a bullet journal, or a planner, or a regular journal at all.

    • @dorotheaenss
      @dorotheaenss  2 роки тому +16

Hi James ☺️ I see you’re speaking from experience, and believe it or not: I’m agreeing with you. Keeping a bullet journal and spending a lot of time on customising it can be a waste of time. That‘s why I keep my system so insanely simple. I tried the popular bullet journal route with all the colourful pens, washi tapes, and stickers, but as I told in the video, it didn’t work and I abandoned it. That’s why all my following bullet journals for the next years were this simple system and it did work. And it’s way closer to what the original bullet journal system intended. If one looks at Caroll’s original system one can see that there are no fancy stickers or complicated spreads. It’s plain simple.
The way I set up a new month takes me less than 5 minutes. I just need my own, my little notebook, and a few minutes, that’s it.
Important to not is, that some people use the time for decorating it as a creative journaling practice and can help with mental health. But some of course feel pressured by it to create a certain looking Bullet Journal.
As for the color of the bullet journal: as you said, don’t buy a color you don’t like or get over it, that’s exactly what I did. I stopped using it. It was way too vibrant (it doesn’t come off that way in the video because of the color correction). As an artist and graphic designer I’m very particular about colours, shapes, and textures. So I absolutely agree that it doesn’t make sense to keep something you don’t like to use.
And I actually use a calendar! I use google calendar for my appointments, and reminders on my phone for tasks. However sometimes I have to write out my tasks on paper or make a table or list for my upcoming university assignments. I guess that’s what makes you use a pre printed planner as well. The ability to write the tasks and assign them to specific dates.
As th creator of the Bullet Journal, and many users have noticed, pre printed planners might not be the best for everyone, especially neurodiverse folks. Why try to make a pre printed planner work if it just doesn’t work for the brain, if instead a customisable simple (and possibly creative and engaging) way of planning exists? It’s the same for you: why use a bullet journal when a pre printed planner works better? It just so happens that many people, me included, just can’t use pre printed planners, and just abandon them because they just don’t work for us.
I hope this insight helped a bit! ☺️ I’m open to continuing this conversation, especially because I also agree that bullet journaling can be a hassle and plain pressure to some people, but I want to show that for some people bullet journals are the simple way of planning they might need in their life.
      Best of wishes ✨❤️✨

Love this conversation. The whole purpose of the bullet journal is to simplify not to add another "to do" on the long list that every one probably have. I am also a creative person, a fine artist in oils and watercolors. I rather spend my creative energy there then in decorating a bullet journal.
Currently, I am using a weekly planner. I establish my weeks goals for any art related event and as well as personal projects. Since the weekly planner tends to lack space for details, I use the A6 pocketsize (LT is my favorite). Daily tasks and record of the day goes there. The Google calendar is great for preplanning and for repeated tasks.
I had found my BuJo soulmate in your videos! and yours is about the only one that I view to the end. :-)

@@katsmith8263 I used to do a bit of colourful stuff, but I turned back to using it like Ryder Carroll's style and it had been a game changer. I also combine it with the companion app introduced by him so I don't really need to carry my journal everywhere. No worries of fitting it in my bags😉

I understand when the bullet journal system isn’t for everyone . I understand when decorating a bullet journal is a waste of time for you and other people. You don’t have to do any of it. There are so many possibilities to organise and plan your life and you can do what is best for you. When the Bullet journal content from some journalists takes some others under pressure, I understand that and think this is not good for them. But they can anytime stopp watching those videos and doing it in a way that doesn’t work for them. On the other side for some people it is the right way. Decorating a bullet journal, spending hours with it and see what you can creat can be a big joy. It CAN . And if it is, in my opinion it isn’t a waste of time. I can help you organise your life, make things better AND can bring joy, calm you down, and just makes you happy. For me it works that way. And honestly? If something makes me happy, for me it’s not a waste of time. Everyone who doesn’t like it that way can just do it different. So why talk so many people about the waste and the pressure of bullet journals and the people who do them, instead of just let the other people do what it’s best for them and like everyone should do. Sorry, my english isn’t the best.

JESUS died for our sins on the cross, HE shed HIS holy, innocent , precious blood for us (HIS blood washes away ALL sins) HE was buried but on the third day GOD raised HIM from the dead. All you have to do to be saved is: Believe in JESUS, trust in HIS blood. JESUS did everything for you, no works are required for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9)
