Eric, I used to build light boxes for commercial applications. There is a product called "Mica board", and I would think you could get a piece in white, (from a local cabinet shop about the size of your plexiglass), to mount to the bottom of your bench directly under your lights. If you use a piano hinge and sash lock, you can change the bulbs easily. This will cause the light to reflect and spread, so when you are tracing plans on to Mylar, or checking book matched seams, the light that is wasted shining downward is now maximized. (This is not a criticism of any kind, it is meant as shared experience).
I'm curious about the shop stands, are they bench grinder stands or something else? I can't find anything that looks like it when I google shop stands.....

It's the erlewine shopstand. Stewmac sells it. Pretty pricey but it holds up.
