great old fashioned radio that is so much more intetesting than if it were tv, the footsteps, coughing, sound of coffee bein poured, even the date, foggy, raining , hot etc the stories are secondary its the visualising the scene that gets the listeners imagingnation come to life
I agree Dragnet never gets old for me. I love All things Dragnet the B&W episodes color episodes 1966 movie . The 1980's movie was ok but not my favorite. Just my opinion
@@michaelwillis9449 💯 % 👍 AGREE COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT ANY BETTER. WHEN IT COMES TO DRAGNET YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. ALSO NOW SOMEONE HAS PUT DRAGNET WITH BLACK SCREEN SO WE CAN LISTEN WHILE WE FALL ASLEEP. FOREVER DRAGNET!!!!
I like how casual they all are ...Surrounded by death and dead bodies...but they keep there spirits up ...Hey ...how’s the wife doing ? Oh you know ....😎... what a job that must be 🤔
You find that among guys who are constantly around death, a coroner saying to a colleague, "Look, I'm pulling a groin." It, like smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol, they are the way you cope. Whether healthy or not, I don't worry too much, but I think it's best we give our boys in blue and plainclothes that support as citizens. I love these programs, a wonderful image of healthier times.
The voice of the manager, that sounds just like Harry Morgan, but I looked through his roles, and I never saw anything point to the Dragnet radio program. Am I right? Because that sounds just like Harry Morgan speaking.
Hi Richard, thanks for listening! I don't know for certain but I checked by copy of "On the Air" by John Dunning and found no mention of Harry Morgan in the Dragnet section.
Richard Cannon That’s absolutely Harry Morgan. He showed up in a few early Dragnet radio episodes, including as the burglar in the 16 Jewel Thieves episode. I seem to recall him in another episode where he was a hotel manager involving a murder. He usually played a police adversary.
Epilogue: "The coroner's jury ruled that the death of Robert Long was justifiable homicide, that he died by gunshot wound while he was resisting arrest. The officers were then absolved from blame".
1950s american film noirs the same, stories predictable but the locations, shadows, actors ,( broderick crawford, dan duryea, richard conte, lizabeth scott, edmond o brian)
Three legends in this episode: Jack Webb, Raymond Burr and Harry Morgan

There is a consistency to the talent of shows like Dragnet and gunsmoke radio that make them timeless.
Dear 'Old Time Radio Podcasts',
Thank you. It's really good.

This was a groundbreaking series that, for me anyway, never gets old.

WOW! Two future stars: Harry Morgan (Dragnet 1966-70 and M*A*S*H*) and of course, Raymond Burr before his Iconic Role as Perry Mason.
I absolutely believe it was Harry Morgan. No doubt
Very definitely Harry Morgan. Old records aren't always comprehensive. I'll bet even Hank didn't remember all his credits from the 1950's.
Suddenly, it's 1949!
Epilogue: "The coroner's jury ruled that the death of Robert Long was justifiable homicide, that he died by gunshot wound while he was resisting arrest. The officers were then absolved from blame".
