After Skaife and Tander went out, and the loss of the Factory Holden car, I think everyone on the mountain, whether they're in the Holden, or the Ford allegiance, switched their support over to Craig and Jamie. If HRT couldn't win it for Brock, then Craig had to. Single handedly the best result and most memorable and emotional result in Australian Motorsport.
Seeing the 06 Bathurst Lowndes/Brock highlights, him driving the 72 XU1,Bev hugging him,the whole lead up then seeing him in tears crossing the line still hits hard We all remember where we where when the news came through of Peters passing, and will never forget the legacy he left on our great sport Youre sadly missed Brocky
Lowndes was so fortunate to have Brocky as a mentor at the start of his career... Who could ask for more? I'm sure both Peter and Bev saw Craig as an adopted son. Craig sure learned how to drive Bathurst like the ol' man that's for sure. He's such an amazing talent... it will be a sad day for Supercars when he retires too.
Since this video was made in 2013, Craig has had even more magic moments at the mountain - but the most notable for me was in 2018. Seeing Craig win the 1000 in his final full time season alongside Steven Richards brought tears to my eyes! A perfect way for Lowndes to celebrate his career up to that point. He has been my idol since I was a kid, and that will never change. Hopefully win number 8 is on the horizon this year alongside Jdub!
How effing good was it watching him stalk Reynolds lap after lap after lap. I’m with you on being a lifetime fan. Ever since the 94 Bathurst, Lowndes has been my man… Win number 8 seems to have eluded him, but I have a good feeling about this year. He was fastest on track at Sandown for a while and it looks like the car goes well. We’ll see, if there is anyone that can eek a win there, it is Craig. Nobody can finish that race like him
Today’ marks 15 years since we lost Peter Brock. Even though I’m a ford person I respect what he did and what a legend he became. To have Lowndes win the 2006 Bathurst 1000 was just a fitting way to send Brock off. September 2006 was a sad month for Australia, first loosing Steve Irwin then Peter Brock 4 days later. Two Aussie icons that were taken away too soon. They may be gone but they won’t be forgotten.
yep i can't believe it 15 years since both legends has been killed in this kind of incident situation i was involved as well I was 2 years old at that time 15 years later I'm 17 years old
I was gobsmacked to hear Whincup admit in an interview that 888 racing favoured his car over Lowndes from 2008 onwards it's just not heard of for a driver admit the team favoured him over his teammate
I don't know what it'd be like standing on the podium at Bathurst...but I'm the 100th thumb-up'er...and that'll do me. More content Supercars! Keep it coming.
I'm a huge Lowndes fan, but it is a shame Murphy didn't get that single seater chance in Europe. He was far faster than Lowndes in a seater seater (yes I saw them race Formula Holdens together and no contest), but yeah Lowndes has the upper hand in tin tops. Instead Murphy ended up at HSV when they dropped the ball that season, and Lowndes couldn't cut it in a type of race car that did not suit him
I have a theory about 2006 race. Skaife gets taken out by Jack Perkins, I found out that Peter Brock gave Larry Perkins a drive after he was finished with F1 and Skaife replaced Peter at HRT. It's only a theory. Maybe Peter said it's not your day and it was Jack's first Bathurst race.
I love the guy. I must say I wasn't devo when he left Holden. Poor burster was the most hated man on earth and the Holden fan at evey chance let him know and not forget for way to long..
Can’t help but notice that of all the memories CL mentions that only 1 is when driving a Ford, despite him winning the great race 3 times in a Ford - in a row no less. Don’t suppose RD had any influence in this piece?
We all knew what no.1 would be. That has got to be single handedly the greatest moment in Australian motorsport. RIP Brock

Yeah seeing Lowndes win it for Brock was just amazing RIP BROCKY 👑
@@formulafish1536 Think you'd find only HRT & thier fanboys wanted them to win. Everyone else wanted it to be Lowndes
What a driver what a dude... R I.P peter Brock we will always remember the king of the mountain..
i was there - still remember that win!
I love how this top 10 is not about winning. Its about the experience. Each and every experience that has shaped this legend

Bathurst 2006 was incredible. Brings tears to my eyes

I’m not crying just something in my eyes. Special moments of time
Great bloke. A true Aussie legend.
Lowndesy's a great character on and off the paddock, without a shadow of a doubt.
Great bloke , absolute legend and in my opinion one of the best drivers in this country to ever race a car
What a brilliant driver he was.
Love Lowndes all the way!

Care factor ford or holden its racing there all legends ( some of them )

@@craigspinks6241 hahaha yeah depends what you’ve done
I was just thinking about the 06 race today, and I was just lost in thought about the minute of silence and his tears on the podium.
A true legend in every sense.
What an absolute legend Craig Lowndes is your so very good for motor racing
Take me back to the 90s. I’d love to see a race from that time era
Simply put.....
Legend.
Still feel bad for Glenn. Possibly they greatest driver never to beat the mountain
I'm sitting here in the swamps of Louisiana and absolutely love Supercars. Please don't screw it up!
Too late. They did that years ago.
Craig Lowndes was not only a great driver he is and has been a super nice guy. 👍
Mr Lowndes,you are a true gentleman 👏👏👍
O5 and 888 cars will live for ever in super cars
Supercars has gone to crap but Lowndes will ALWAYS be a legend
That larry bar saved CL from a potentially v serious injury.🙏🏼
If it wasn't for the larry bar, that would have been the day we lost Lowndes.
The real KING OF THE MOUNTAIN!

The man the legend Peter Brock 🙏😎🇦🇺
They have all been pretty special but the first win for the Peter Brock trophy has to be my number 1.
upload the 2010 bathurst race
Your my fav super car driver Craig lowndes

Jack had no where to go
My uncle is Lowndes look alike
One dislike from someone with no class or integrity, or any real qualities no doubt.
I’d prefer you came up with a more intelligent user name or just use your real name.
@@enzokaos555 🥱 thanks I’m good
No need to waste energy on his haters, let’s just soak in how good Lowndsey was at Bathurst
