I haven't watched this version so I don't know about the ending of this movie but I have watched the older version. It ended with him dancing under sakura tree in trance and all blossoms falling on him. I think sakura tree had a very important significance in this story. It signifies his mother and him hiding his grief and craving for motherly love inside the trunk of the tree/his heart, meaning he was escaping from his grief, finding substitute for his emptiness(that hollowed him inside after his mother's death) from one woman to another, and whenever those women dies, a part of those expectations also dies with them(blossoms falling on him everytime a woman dies, remember?). He is restless, clueless and extremely disturbed, and have severe case of depression..... then he asks himself about what is he truly trying to search, it was his mother all along, truth is in front of him, but he is denying to understand this fact. I don't know how the ending happened in the book, in the story it ended before he got exiled. I have very different pov about the ending, all his expectations and his hopes dies with murasaki(I think she dies? Or that he is going to be separated from the remaining hope of his life......or whatever he assumed her to be......Or maybe he saw some weird tipsy dream about something I really don't understand), that's why he returns back to sakura tree, dancing in trance, in grief and contempt, for his life is filled with emptiness that will never be filled again.
Does someone knows how this instrument is called? They are used in japanese games like Ninja Gaiden and Genji but I can't find the name of this instrument and how the songs with this instrument are called. Thanks

There is a significant difference between traditional Chinese and Japanese music. The taste of music from Japanese and Chinese are quite different. There is no way this style is from China.
Is because china had disnasty called Tang dinasty. Japan un that time had a lot of influence from china Tang disnasty. Thats the reason why Japan perseve a little great ancient china. Japan in this music added a japanese traditional drums.
