If you are the parent of a rising (or current) high school senior, be sure to check out my FAFSA & Financial Aid Academy here, www.thefafsaguru.com/fafsa-fi...
This virtual program runs every year from September 1st and runs through May 31st.
There are three different levels of service in the Academy for you to choose from, depending on how closely you want to work with me throughout the senior year financial aid process.
    ✨BASIC, PLUS and PRO.
Last year the PLUS and PRO levels filled up and I had to cut off registration early as I limit the number of families in these levels so that I can provide quality services to them.

How The Financial Aid Academy was born. 🤩
When I started this business I quickly realized that 90% of my clients and people reaching out to me for questions were parents of high school seniors navigating the overwhelming financial aid process for the first time.
Often times they came to me in sheer panic 😫when the financial aid offers rolled out not knowing how they were going to afford college tuition.

So I set out to create an AFFORDABLE coaching program specifically for them that spanned the entire senior year to help them:
✅ Get prepared before that time came so there were no surprises
✅ Better understand the financial aid process and feel less stressed navigating it
✅ Fill out the FAFSA and CSS Profile (if required) correctly and avoid common mistakes that could cost them thousands of dollars
✅ Stay on track and not miss important deadlines
✅ Find colleges their families could
✅ Access all the financial aid they are entitled to
✅ Maximize their financial aid offers
✅ Feel more secure and confident while having direct access to a professional who has worked in the financial aid field for over 30 years.
I have helped hundreds of families navigate the overwhelming financial aid process and get the best aid offers possible through my Financial Aid Academy.
On average, families who enroll in the Academy receive an additional $25,000 in financial aid over the course of 4 years on top of their regular financial aid offers! 💰

Hey I’m a junior and have a big question. If I’m living with my mother and still go to my dads a lot, there divorced.. can I fill out my dad if I’m planning on living with him during college even if I have been living with my mother. The irs won’t come after me if during college I’m living with my dad?

HOW will they determine which parent provides the most support?? I can’t find any information on what is the determining factor. My kids live with me full time, I provide their housing, food, clothes, etc. I claim them both on my taxes as my dependents every year. But their dad pays child support, not a huge amount but decent, and he does make more than I do. So which one of us is to fill out the form??? Please help!

You would fill out the form with your income as the children live with you. I know in the video it makes it sound confusing but odds are you are still providing the most support because they live with you, you feed them, you buy them clothes, and school stuff. Yes the other person is paying child support but that is not enough to fully provide for your child.

I heard that the student can't choose which parent when file fafsa, it will be the parent who claimed the student on their tax return.... they can however make an appeal afterwards with the school... Not sure who is correct...

@@ranw5954 well if that’s correct then I will be fine, I’ve claimed them since 2020!

I have not heard how exactly financial aid offices will be determining this yet...whoever meets more of the child's expenses/needs is the parent who should fill it out, so if the child resides with you the most and you pay all those expenses then you should claim the child. If the other parent helps pay all those household expenses along with child support and other expenses then that would be different. As soon as I know exactly how financial aid offices are determining this then I will do more videos on it.
