Absolutely no excuse for this mess Samsung. Been a Sammy user since the s3. My last draw was while waiting for a bigger front screen and pen silo on the latest fold, I noticed how similar the latest S-whatever was to an iPhone. I use Mac and iPadOS for all of my creative work, and my smartphone was the last holdout up until that point. After seeing how much Samsung was trying to emulate the iPhone, along with ripping off the AirPod and watch design language.. I was done. Figured if they wanted to make Apple knockoff products, I may as well get the real deal. Grabbed the 16 pro Max and was pleasantly surprised with how much of an upgrade it was to my workflow as well as the seamless handoff functionality performed. Shouldn’t have waited so long to jump ship smh..
Android clearly wasn't for you if your workflow improved with IOS. That's telling more about the ecosystem than anything else because IOS itself slows you down with very poor design and programming choices. IOS still doesn't have a dedicated "return" button, digital or not, and this alone makes IOS very stupid, along with many other small details like that.
@ I still use and appreciate Android OS in the other devices I own, especially for my development work. And as I stated regarding my creative work, Apple’s continuity has absolutely improved my workflow. I’d argue that if your position is “iOS” doesn’t have a physical back button and therefore it makes the iPhone inferior, then keep those fingers crossed. Because as Sam Tucker points out in the video - Samsung is likely to rip that off too. There’s simply no excuse for the decisions Samsung makes to copy the way they have.

Lmao, these people don't do research. Most of the things pointed out in this video has been added a long time with Samsung through a Samsung-made App called 'Good Lock' - which most die-hard Samsung users will know - where you can do further customizations not baked into the phone/phone settings. It just seems like this One Ui 7 update, They are putting everything natively, not needing an app to do most of what's shown. And as a lot of people have pointed out, most of what is shown in the video didn't even come from Apple/Samsung, but Chinese-branded companies and their OS. The only original idea Apple has is Dynamic Island, which was a necessity in their part to make the notch more 'fun', or make it seem like it has a use on the screen.
Well, technically the pill shaped cut out was in S 10+ back in 2019 and it had animations of camera which looked so cool 😅 So I think Apple must have copied the Dynamic Island

Separate notification panel is an option on my 2019 xiaomi phone and has been there since the launch. the fact that some options were in apple phones before samsung doesn't mean they weren't on other versions of android. obviously. none of those two brands has innovated shit for years now. and I couldn't care less, both brands suck and are extremely overpriced.
In fairness, I'm using One UI 6, where notifications are pulled down from the left and the control center from the right. I'm not sure why this is considered a new feature. If you have Good Lock, many of these features, and more, have been available for a while. It seems like Samsung's testing ground.
Xiaomi has had the separation of controls and notifications for more than 2 years (in the era of Miui and as you know, this hyperos was 1 year ago) With a left swipe the notifications appear and with the right the controls. and being in either if you swipe to one of the sides, either the notifications or the controls appear. So Apple copied that function to Xiaomi (if not from another brand or another layer of customization from each company that uses Android)
Call me thick, but some of these features have existed in the past. The rainbow border when activating specific apps for one. Resizing icons. Not done in the same way but possible. Does One UI 7 just makes these options easier or what?

@@startingQB they never got rid of it. It's an option in Good Lock
I've had edge lighting for 4 phones now, this isn't an Apple feature. It may resemble iOS, but it's still a million times more customizable.
I already own both devices, you mean to tell me I have two iPhones now? I honestly don't have a problem with One UI 6.1, I'm not sure I want to update my device to an iOS knockoff. It seems that Samsung has forgotten why people bought their devices in the first place.
Ooooh... Samsung fanboys are gonna be mad about this video. Just like Apple fanboys were mad when he made fun of ios18. Notice I said "fanboys", not "fans" (there is a big difference).
The comments should be funny. Let me guess...
"B-b-but edge lighting"
"B-b-but Apple copied first"
"B-b-but Samsung had this in 1984"
-sniff-
But seriously, they both copy each other... and that's fine. It results in improvements to both, which benefits the consumer. There is no need for fanboyism... lighten up and just enjoy the product. 😁
Good point!!!
my bixby activated 7 times thanks to this video
I love your bird btw
So bixby is smarter after all. Siri doesn't even know her name, it's that bad.
same 😂
I finally turned bixby off
heh
I personally love the new update, it added more options and features, and made it more one handed friendly. That's a win in my book
Apple: you’re just a cheap knockoff
Samsung: oh no no no, I’m the upgrade
Samsung fan boy spotted 😂
@syndicate_1 last time i used a samsung phone, heck a samsung product was in 2014 💀
Boy oh boy
@@Swagtrap_CZ so you're an IOS bot?
cheap? have you looked at their pricing? 😂
Why are most things he said on this video has my flagship low term old phone features? It has the animation, edit things on the UI and everything. Weird.
Edit: He said "Enlarge applications like Apple does." Every phone does that? Right?
I'm perfectly happy with just the little black dot on top of my screen. Don't take up more of my screen space. I don't want to fiddle with it. Too distracing. Can't I just swipe left on my home screen?
Note 9 used to have glowing edge notifications in the customization options.
I love the fact Apple and Samsung don’t even bother to hide the fact they’re copying each other, at the end of the day consumers are getting more features
But we're not tho. Everything we want we don't have, and everything we have, we didn't ask for.
noooo this is team sport and I take it personally when the other megacorporation steals ideas from my *preferred* megacorporation!
like notches, poping-out cameras and other "innovations" that made the whole industry look like degeneration?
in my S10 i could plug an good budget headset (~50 €) and i could enjoy my music,
five generations later if i want to listen to music with an equally good pair of headphones,
i need at least twice that amount of money in order to not have any issues with the varying bluetooth protocols
Storage is locked between the manufacturer's choices where they charge you 100+ € for 128 Gb
Camera sensors and battery technology are a joke compared with some chinese manufacturers
so please tell me what feature did i get ?
At least people who want to switch to Samsung don’t have to go through a whole new learning curve of new UI ❤
I think that's legitimately why they are doing this to their phones
How hard is it tho like I don't even use many of the features I do love how customizable samsung is but that's just android in general like you can really spend hours tweaking and changing the color of everything and with good lock you can even make custom icon looks you truly make theme
@@TheLogreal or because they realize that being worse for the sake of being different isn't actually good
@ThatIceChampion except this update is worse and less different
@ exactly. Samsung is going back to their roots, copying everything they like

Fun fact:on 0:45 it showcase a pop up animation in the battery icon and it has been around for years in Android
I never knew I needed an Australian to do a British accent until now!
Our original accent. The 1st gen kids starting speaking Aussie at the amusement of their parents and Brits back in the original home.
1:25 my budget old low end redmi 8a had it since 2020😂
I’m glad will make switching to Samsung a lot easier for me next year. Hopefully the Flip blows me away!
Foldables are not sturdy enough (yet). If you're careless with your phones, they will break.
1:13 my old tablet had that, evolving but backwards
Between increasing performance and not hurting Bixby's feelings, I'm all for increasing the performance. 😂 2:53
I find bixby pretty useful turning on and off my lights and monitor
Changing app icon sizes and the recent apps screen has been there for ages. Moving the clock too has been in existence before Apple as well
kinda the otherway around samsung started dynamic island thinfgs on s10
Actually a lot of these features like app size changing already exist thanks to good lock applications, so Samsung is really just making these features more mainstream
1:11 What? I'm using this function for at least a year for now on OneUi 6.1
You see, now thats called a lie. I say this on an S21 with the latest update on it.
Can confirm this is NOT on oneui 6.1.
@@EagleFPV43 yeah idk what they're on and how tf 12 people agreed on this.
@@ThatIceChampionthere's an option to access the quick panel directly by swiping on the top right corner
The 2 different pages for notifications and quick controls has been a thing for many years. You can enable it in settings and some android phones already have it on by default
@@CosmosProvider Keep your idiotic opinions to yourself
@ I still use and appreciate Android OS in the other devices I own, especially for my development work. And as I stated regarding my creative work, Apple’s continuity has absolutely improved my workflow. I’d argue that if your position is “iOS” doesn’t have a physical back button and therefore it makes the iPhone inferior, then keep those fingers crossed. Because as Sam Tucker points out in the video - Samsung is likely to rip that off too. There’s simply no excuse for the decisions Samsung makes to copy the way they have.
@@CosmosProvider Samsung is weird asf, I liked Samsung because of their own identity, but ‘as an iOS 18 user’ Samsung is a stupid copy and paste, hope Samsungs proper oneUI 7 release is better and fixes their mistakes, stupid mistakes
yes if you already had a mac you will definitely get better workflow. i for example only have Samsung products, so my workflow is great haha
Xiaomi have this split notifications and quick controls already for some time
Have been using Samsung phones for many years since upgrading from Apple but I have only ever clicked the Bixby button by accident in all that time. Don't even want to know what it does. 😂
It wants to be your Google Assistant. Trouble is, where I'm concerned, Google got there first, so I don't need two phone nannies watching what I do. One is enough.
1. The notification and the quick setting it has been there for longtime on goodlock
2. The edge lightening has been there for notifications
3. Customizing time Samsung did not copy it from iPhone, i guess i do not remember iPhone being able to move their time
4. The charging amination it is not for iPhone
5. Dynamic island was not created by iPhone, it was create by Honor, but iPhone copied first than Samsung.
6. Quick setting they copied from iPhone we agree with that
7. Music amination it is from iPhone we agree
8. Widgets they never copied them iPhone
9.Putting apps horizontal has been there if Samsung user knows that
"iPhone user please do your home work before saying Samsung copied iPhone"
0:43 always makes me laugh 😂
same here XD
The dual notification panel was on older android devices.
I prefer the combined controls myself. I moved back to iPhone recently as I do in off years some times and Jesus Christ the lack of a back gesture and instead having to to go the top left and press "Back" is the stupidest shit on planet earth. Change it already.
I prefer an option to choose
Just change the settings. Go to gestures or home tab
@@drayke8886you can always change it back. Lol you got option in andriod
Almost every single one of those features was available in some form or other, such as Goodlock which allowed customization down to the tiniest of details. They're just moving them into the main build of One UI now.
I mean.... isnt apple using samsung cameras.................. but all in all, samsung has to do every stupity that apple does. lets loose headphone hole, check, lets make new charger.... check etc...
I thought it was Sony cameras. If not, they are a bit crazy as Sony makes the best compact cameras these days.
And they call this amazing feature "patent infringement" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The purpose of incorporating similar feature from iphone to samsung one ui 7.0 to be able iphone users switching to android with minimal adjustments and able to cope up with the new software. For me this a bold step from samsung as this will encourage more iphone users to switch and more customizable ui compare to ios. Well the competition now will be the eco system of each.
Yes but once the ifone users experience the samsung store experience. Like bringing ur fone for service. It will drive them back to apple. Just read google maps reviews on the samsung experience store
1:36 that is not a rip off
Is too.
@NowLedgeOutpost well actually in android 8 on Samsung note 8 it is staked
Samsung still has the same OS (Operating System) - Android. What you meant was they imitated Apple's version of the phone UI (User Interface).
The latest iOS 18 literally copies everything that already came with One UI 6, you can tell how big of a fanboy you are.
i really couldn't care less who did what first. not even a little bit
Apple takes ideas from Samsung, Samsung takes ideas from Google, Google takes ideas from Apple
and the consumer wins
You forgot to mention the fact that OneUI 7 looks inconsistent and ugly as hell, AND it's probably gonna take up a ton of resources to the point where the cheaper phones would be barely able to handle it.
Bro forgot the existence of ✨One UI Core✨
2:36 at first, I didn’t mind them copying Apple, but after looking at this, they are over the top like honestly, they should be arrested for copyright
Watchout MKBHD, Sam Tucker’s here to take that 👑
2:52 I use Bixby for quick things. For example, square root of 743, Metric conversions etc
Friendly reminder you can change these things around with Samsung's Good Lock apps
This is so sad. The different menus appearing on which side of the phone you swipe on was on Blackberry before it was on the iPhone
Well, technically the pill shaped cut out was in S 10+ back in 2019 and it had animations of camera which looked so cool 😅 So I think Apple must have copied the Dynamic Island
Not the same at all.. just the shape
They copy each other actually. For instance edge light has been on samsung long before apple implemented it as animation for siri. I think samsung took back their initiative or copied back what apple copied... the list is endless
So Samsung is just a slightly delayed Apple
samsung had most of these features in previous UI, before apple's new IOS. Also samsung did this better
The lock screen can be customised however you want since like ages ago with the goodlock app
Most of these features were there since One Ui 5.1
most of those features are basically android features. one ui is just samsungs layer over it.
@@kerolokerokerolo like which ? (I am saying this a Samsung fan who is disappointed by on UI 7.0)
- Separate notification panel (iphone had it first)
- dynamic island (iphone had it first)
- rainbow around the edge (iphone)
- circular battery icon on top (iphone)
- Removal of headphone jack , charger (iphone)
- the new galaxy watch ultra and buds design (also copied from apple).
they are just disappointing me with these designs.
Apple copied most of these from Samsung originally anyways 🤣
Xiaomi has had the separation of controls and notifications for more than 2 years (in the era of Miui and as you know, this hyperos was 1 year ago)
With a left swipe the notifications appear and with the right the controls. and being in either if you swipe to one of the sides, either the notifications or the controls appear.
So Apple copied that function to Xiaomi (if not from another brand or another layer of customization from each company that uses Android)
Coca Cola-Pepsi. Ford-Chevrolet. Battles been going on for years.
@@ReadtheBible88 those “competitors” are owned by the same company. Their competition is nothing more than a marketing stunt.
Call me thick, but some of these features have existed in the past. The rainbow border when activating specific apps for one. Resizing icons. Not done in the same way but possible. Does One UI 7 just makes these options easier or what?
What iOS is today is due to Android and Samsung developing the UX, especially the Launcher. Samsung would be so much better if it did not copy the rotten apple.
I like the way samsung has become!!
@braydenstark5212 You like posh and expensive things and design driven by flexing, not utility. Fair, you can continue doing so.

apple must be so glad, they constantly hinted at samsung that they want to be like them and samsung finally made the move

Can i say that i have no desire to change my phone or IOS every year.
most people dont
yearly phones are not meant for people to switch every year. its for people who's phones are already older, so they have the oppurtunity to switch to new device
you know that apple stole the dynamic island from Honor, who first used it on their phones
Apple is trying to be like Samsung, where Samsung is trying to be like at Apple
True, they have lost their identity
