I caught Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill playing as a duo at Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz about 14 years ago. It was, of course, a wonderful performance; but what struck me most was the ddegree to which Dennis subordinated the typical guitarist urge to the requirements of the music. Many guitarists of any skill at all will show off a bit, even if it's tastefully done. But throughout the show, Dennis remained steadfast in his supporting role, playing nothing that was not intended to showcase Martin's fiddle play and the tune itself - until a moment came when they were about to kick off a tune, and Martin blanked on the melody. Dennis uncorked a 10-second fusillade of guitar to demonstrate the fiddle melody that left my jaw a-dangle. And then he went back to his supporting role, and there he remained, rock steady. Such admirable restraint, and such generous support, has rarely been my pleasure to behold.
A beautiful film, really captures and combines the beauty of the the area, their personalities and of course the music where, watching it put me in a trance for 30 mins.
Outstanding Music - Exquisite Filming & Editing - Impeccable Performance - Lovely Landscape & Compositional Tapestry Masterfully Layered Throughout in both Sight and Sound. Truly, a wonderful delight for the senses. Thank You & All the Best! May your chimney(s) smoke forever.
This was a happy UA-cam accident, getting to this film after watching Martin and Myles on a talk show segment.
Great u went looking and found it! Was such a joy to make.

Does anyone know the name of the tune at the end?
I think I've seen it called Castle Kelly
Agggh. Sorry, I spoke too soon. Castle Kelly is the second to last. Is the last one Foxhunter's Reel?
