I already think or talk in Japanese by myself at times but now I realized how much shadowing can improve my Japanese even more because it sort of forces my mouth to get used to the language. I've decided to shadow at least one video everyday from now on! Thank you so much for this video Miku sensei!! I actually tried shadowing the whole video (I'm so happy that I can understand all of it; a couple of words I understood using context clues) and it was really fun!
To whoever's reading this, I hope you get all the motivation you need if you are truly passionate in learning any language!! If you're like me who suddenly wasn't able to actively study their target language, it's okay, but from now on take note of your short-term and long-term goals again and just do it!! NO MORE EXCUSES

I've been learning Japanese on and off for about 3 years and only really gotten serious about it for 4 years, so about 7 years total. I passed N5, but I'm nowhere near fluency. These videos and the Shadowing Audio series should help me get on track. Thanks, Miku-sensei!

The thing that has given my Japanese language skills a huge boost is playing video games in Japanese and reading/translating all the text for myself. It was time consuming and exhausting at first but now I play more games in Japanese than in English.

I’ve been doing these things for some time and can attest that it really does work. The only think I have been struggling with is is “thinking in Japanese”. I think it certainly can be helpful but it’s like asking a dog to stop liking sausage…. It’s very challenging to think in a language that you only have tenuous command on…..

    • @Dijitorium
      @Dijitorium 2 роки тому +3

Don't worry about that mate, it comes naturally with a lot (and I mean a lottttt) of exposure to the language. Eventually you get to the point where something annoys you and you think「めんどくせー」instead of your native language's equivalent of it 😂

Miku Sensei- thank you for posting the tips :) you asked for tips we’ve used for learning… I studied Spanish in high school, and I have a lot of opportunities to use it at work, but when I’m feeling that my Spanish is rusty, I listen to Harry Potter audiobooks- I know them basically by heart in English, so listening in Spanish makes me remember the Spanish I’m forgetting :) thank you for the shadowing tip, it will help for all of my language learning

I've always been good with mimicking accents and pronounciations but i do have a hard time memorizing multiple words to add into my vocabulary. I guess i just need to use them more often to get them into my head. I remember missing one day of practicing japanese 2 years ago and since then i forgot to practice, but thanks to this video i feel like learning again. I managed to learn how to write hiragana and a bit of katakana and a couple of words into my vocabulary but i don't feel the motivation to learn kanji tbh. I want to learn conversational skills and talking because that's the most fun part of language learning hopefully i'll be able to learn enough japanese to be able to hold conversations :)

One thing that helped me to learn english and that I'm also using to learn japanese is playing video games. In Japanese specially the ones with furigana and voice acting are great because I can search the kanji meaning in the dictionary and translate it using google translate and other software tools. Then the next time I see that word or phrase I can remember and doing it repeatedly helps a lot to memorise new stuff.

I’m a freshman in college and in my second Japanese class, it’s really hard for me to understand long term Japanese and not just phrases. I want to mimic and use more words and phrases in order to understand and remember them but I know very little, I’m not even N5 after almost a year of classes. Do you have any suggestions for learning kanji? That’s a big problem for me. Thank you for giving me the motivation and confidence to go to my Japanese written midterm exam today I have been really stressed for it, but I’ll still go and give it my best! Hopefully by next month my conversational Japanese is a bit better and my reading and writing is much better!

Love the way you explain your thought process of each and every tip. Shadowing is such an important tip that we forget as we grow older! Your videos have made studying Japanese so much more enjoyable for me! Gonna “shadow” your videos as much as I can! Can’t wait to speak Japanese fluently in the near future! Waza waza arigatou gozaimashita (your new video reels on Instagram are fabulous!!!!!!) Looking forward to all your upcoming videos! 🙇🏻🙆🏻‍♀️😃👏🤗🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Miku another really cool video! Could you make a video on your favorite UA-camrs speaking in kansai ben? I’m not sure if you’re aware but there’s quite a few people interested and learning kansai ben, so if you started a podcast or a UA-cam series fully in Kansai ben you would make a lot of people happy 😌

How am I supposed to do shadowing on anything else aside from anime? Of course I won’t because I trust your recommendation, but I have no idea what else I could possibly use. I’m not too into dramas or podcasts, which is what everyone seems to be recommending me.

Why don't you start right here? Miku has transcribed her speech really well and you can also also slow it down here on YT.

I guess it's ok to use anime to mimic and shadow but it has to be the right one. Bullying master Takagi, Girls last tour, Nichijou, Tokyo magnitude 0.8, etc... are rly good :3 have fun!

I think what might be a real problem for this method is the "shadowing" because even if you know quite a bit of japanese it's difficult read it quickly from a subititle or close caption, that's a big problem to come around for a learner.
But all the suggestion here are valuable, I see.

saya suka menonton anime dan saya akan memperagakan tips-tips tersebut, harus diingat bahwa ada sebagian karakter anime yang cara berbicaranya tidak pantas atau tidak bagus untuk di contoh, pilih karakter yang mempunyai karakter sopan santun untuk kita contoh

I have my UA-cam app in Japanese so the subtitles are in Japanese. Using the subtitles helped me with some kanji I didn’t know before tho ☝️ But to my surprise , I understood about 70-80% of this video. I’ll definitely implement this advice.
