My Father, Frank Egan helped put this festival together along with his friends, Bill Oniell, Ed Jeffords, Jack Cross and others. This festival left a lasting impression on Eureka Springs. over 40,000 people attended, held outside a town of roughly 800 people.
Been looking for this! Was there. Saw the Original Getting Back@ the Strand Theater on big screen. Could pick my crew out.🥰👏 Unable 50 years later on small screen WHAT A HAPPENINGS!!😎🎉 like it was yesterday.✌️
I was there hitched down from Cape Fair Mo. was just a kid, but kind of started me going to them for some years, the memory is really something. for sure
Wish I could have been there. Loved Bluegrass festivals. I did make to the Ozark Music festival the following year in Sedalia Mo, but the BG festivals in Eminence Mo.,Grassy Mo. are more my cup of tea.
I remember watching a movie of the festival at a movie theater in Ocean Beach, California. I went to the movie to see the Ozark Mountain Daredevils but got turned on to Mason Proffit and an unknown (at the time) Michael Murphey. New York Times was correct ..."great music". Thanks for posting. Do you know if there is any place to find the video of the festival? I see where this is pirated video. Thanks for posting
wow what a great day out !!! (I never caught hooker.. but Clifton C was totally awesome (with his red velvet crown) his son played some of the best tenor tone Ive ever heard) these is some very good stuff with Larry Lee and Randle Chowning on youtube theses days ( I drove thru that area back in 1983 and found the folks very charming)... thanks for posting
