Brandon Hopkins he actually did, with Oakland in 2013. He was acquired that year by Green Bay after a couple of lackluster starts and kept us afloat until Rodgers came back.
Matt Flynn and Matt Stafford still hold the record for most aggregate passing yards in a game with 1,000 of them. Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins were on pace to break that record last night through three quarters, but they lost it in the fourth quarter.
Packers made a huge mistake getting rid of Flynn. When they needed him he produced. Most impressive was bringing Green Bay back from a 26-3 deficit against Dallas to win the game.
How can you possibly know how good kizer is? Dont go off of his games with the browns because that team had no O line and josh gordon didnt get back til late season. We havent seen what hes capable of
@@Stackali first negative IQ I've seen in comments. Flynn won a Natty at LSU. Then who holds single game records at Green Bay. Not Farve or Bart Star or Rodgers.FLYNN.
Didn’t work out for Flynn in Seattle Russell Wilson happened. But he did come back to GB in 2013 and he made an impact in a game vs Dallas. He led a 20 point comeback win in the 2nd half at Dallas. That one win was enough for GB to still be in the division race when Rodgers came back last game at Chicago. GB won that last game and the division title vs Bears on Rodgers 4th down TD pass late in the game. That Dallas win with Flynn I think was the only game they won while Rodgers was out but it was the one win they needed to stay in the race.
I’m from Louisiana and grew up at Matt Flynn fan, the year he brought LSU to the BCS was when i started to get into football. From the day he was drafted to Now I’ve been a Green Bay fan, love the team and how they gave this guy a chance, more than most other teams
This game was unfreakingreal.! Flynn was a boss that we took for granted. The fact that he was capable of games like this is crazy. Now we have Love🤦♀️
They would admittedly have made many average QBs look good, but I still believe Flynn was better than average, just ran into a Russel-Wilson-shaped problem when he left.
Man Stafford used to just stare at Calvin every play. I love Calvin Johnson but I think Stafford is better having multiple targets and not just staring down Megatron. Although he still did catch a lot of balls in double and triple coverage anyways
Stafford didn't stare down megatron as much in 2011 as much as he did in later years having him. That was staffords first full year and it was sort of a fluke at the time because it was assumed that that play would continue. He got way too comfortable staring calvin down afterwards since he had a full year under his belt and realized that he can make so many plays in triple coverage.
Bah, Megatron would have had a good game any week of the year. This one was just par for the course for him. I deeply respect that guy, even if he played for the Lions.
Flynn behind Rodgers was like Rodgers behind Favre: he really saw how to take care of the football and he had some really amazing games in place of Rodgers and honestly could've been an average starter for some teams. Instead he was the GOAF back up
This is just proof that this is a team sport. Flynn is a great QB, but the other teams he went to didn't put the right talent around him or have the same scheme as the Packers did. It's not ALL about how good the QB is. What is the chemistry of the team & how good of a fit is the team to the scheme?
5:38 - with hands like that, it doesn't matter if Jordy has 'lost a step'. Bring him home - skills and chemistry more than make up for a little bit of speed.
So we bitch about drafting Jordan Love. Other than Flynn, look at the crap we've had backing Roger's. Let's be realistic - Arron has got at least a 1 in 4 chance of getting injured in these next 2 years.
Anyone remember that season Rodgers got hurt and we brought Matt Flynn back in and he led us to the playoffs that seasons. I forgot what year it was, but I will always be thankful for Flynn’s services especially when we brought him back in!
This is why Stafford is not considered elite. The game of your life and a back up effortlessly puts you to shame. And haven't won a playoff game this century - lol. It's a toss-up whether the Lions are just snake bit or cursed, but against Green Bay it's probably both.
@cpk1994 Right, but it is always Arod's fault when the Packers lose, according to Lions fans of course, and pretty much everyone else. Lions can't seem to fix anything, no matter what superstars they may have on the roster. They don't get it.
This is a garbage take lmao Stafford put up insane numbers but Detroit’s defense gave up the same amount to a back up. Stafford is not the reason Flynn was able to play so well. This is like saying one baseball teams fielding is bad because they’re hitting is bad. There is an offense and a defense.
Idc what anyone says. It makes no sense to sit your starting qb in a game like this. I get the feeling they may not have come out so rusty against the giants if he Rodgers hadn’t gone 3 weeks without playing.
That was the first mistake that started the rift between Aaron and Mike in my opinion and it was a slow decline that reached its ugly head during the NFC title game in Seattle.
@@MrSheed92 That is definitely an interesting perspective. I remember always being confused by things McCarthy would do. I didn't want to believe that he might not have been the coaching genius everyone crowned him as after or during the sb run.
@@kgrace1985 Aaron Rodgers has lost to Kyle Orton before. Does that make ARod shitty tho? No defense should be giving up 500 passing yards to Matt fucking Flynn.
Wish I understood football more back then to understand how amazing these plays and matches were...
I never understood how Flynn never got a starting job. The boy was accurate as hell.
Brandon Hopkins he actually did, with Oakland in 2013. He was acquired that year by Green Bay after a couple of lackluster starts and kept us afloat until Rodgers came back.
In 2012 he went to Seattle with most think he was going to be starter, but instead Russel Wilson got the job. The rest has been history for Seattle
Russell Wilson happened.
He was too inconsistent. Perpetual back up
Green Bay was the only team he played well. He sucked in Oakland and they cut him.
Rodgers calling the plays and getting Flynn a monster game such as this proves he has an unreal football IQ

I was also at this game. The thing about this qb dual was it was cold AF that day !
Jealous I am
Even though they went 15-1, they lived on the edge a lot that year with that shakey defense. Not totally shocked we lost in the divisional round.

Was at this game. Bummed out 12 didn’t play but 10 did great. Makes you wonder how Flynn never became even a mid grade starter.
He won National championship at LSU
Bro we sweeped NFC North this year also
Man the Packers offense was unbelievable that year. Jones, Driver, Jordy, Jennings, Finley....just ridiculous
After this game my brother comedically quipped "Aaron who?" when we won lol
The Aaron that was calling all the plays 😎
We should've won the Super Bowl that year
This team was so one dimensional. The offense was unreal, but defense and special teams. I wasn't shocked when the Giants beat us in the playoffs.
Nelson also did some great plays, catches etc ;)
Matt Flynn only plays great in Green Bay.
6:00 Wow, that was a heck of a game! Plenty of big plays both ways and lots of scoring... wait, that was just the FIRST HALF?!
Had to come watch after that amazing tweet
Matt Flynn was undeniably the best second string QB the Pack have had Play
Did Rodgers never play a game while he was second string?
It just hurts to watch that defense under Dom Capers!!
To be fair dude if you remember this game many starters were out this game cuz the playoffs were coming n we were 14 n 1 going against the lions
Hasn't been that much different under Mike Pettine and Joe Barry unfortunately...
That Packers offense was stacked. Nelson, Jones, Driver, Jennings, Cobb, and Finlay. To go with Rodgers, Grant, and Kuhn ohh and a top 5 o line.
