Yes, I have a favorite spoon. I started using it when I was quite young and when I moved out of my mother's home I took it with me. I moved out in 1972.
My dad is extremely ocd about his favourite spoon. He once dug through the trash to make sure no one threw it away lol. He won't eat using any other spoon even stuff like soup. I showed him how to correctly wind spaghetti into a spoon and he realised he needed a bigger spoon which could hold more spag. He accepted this trade off😂
One of the best things about Texas is this time of year when those cold fronts start rolling through after a long hot summer. And the best thing when that temperature drops is to make a big steaming pot of charro beans. Nothing like a fall Sunday watching the Cowboys and having some beans.
Wow 🤩 Arnie your channel has grown so much so fast since I started watching you at 3k followers now almost 1million followers. Congratulations 🍾 you’re so close to a million subscribers. 🤯👏🏻
I love your recipes! I make my borracho beans like you do: however I have yet to add chicharrones. So, guess what!? I am cooking beans tonight, and tomorrow I will be added the CRUNCH! My 29 yo child loves to add pickled jalapenos with his, plus some of the pickle juice
Thanks again for a great show and thanks to your mother she is a great person and God bless her and you always and my family is from Texas 🤠 and we all love your show and it's yummy 😋 and amazing 💪💪👍👍👍👍👏👏👏🤠🙏😁😁
Hey Arnie I saw your pic in “Tribal people try” you tube channel. It’s a pic of you with a bowl of menudo. Awesome. The title is “tribal people try traditional Mexican soup man now I want some menudo. I need to try making some. Nos vemos.
I love your videos. Have you and Kent Rollins ever got together? He does the happy dance after he tastes too. One of my favorite memories is "helping" my father pick rocks out of the pinto beans for the annual American Legion Bar-be-cue.
Yes! I do have a favorite spoon. I just used it to enjoy my yogurt parfait. We've had it for over 30 years; it was from a gift that I gave my husband for our first Christmas together. This spoon is the only piece left from the Oneida set that I feel fancy using because it has a hint of gold accent at the end of the handle. I would love to replace the set... someday, I guess. I'm looking forward to trying this recipe as I am trying to learn how to cook dishes similar to how my mom and aunts made. I think the mexican cooking skill skipped a generation, because I'm 60 and just starting to feel secure in my efforts to learn how to make dishes which I have loved since childhood.
Yup, I have to make these this weekend. Had a family potluck party a few weeks ago, and I made a pot of charro beans, Arnie Tex style, with little paper cups to hold them. They were indeed a smash hit.
I’m battling what I hope is a short syndrome that doesn’t last forever. I’m allergic to red meat of all kinds. Chicken and fish are the only options. Even too much butter, cheese and milk can be a problem. Throat swells up, not good. I’m finding that many of the traditional Mexican food dishes (chicken) are fine for me to eat and I love them. I’ve found many new favorites! I can get along with not eating bacon ham and beef outright. It’s thing like charro beans, refried bean burritos that are toughest ice cream aside. I’m going to try this with chicken broth. I slow cook whole chickens. The sodium levels in the broth are very high. I’ve learned this much when I had to go into a month long food lock down. Lost 17lbs inside a month. Sodium levels went through the roof. It was the sodium in the chicken fat coupled with zero carbs to help absorption. It’s a battle. Worse part is people are afraid to cook for me these days.
That's a beautiful pot of beans! It's funny you mentioned your favorite spoon at the end... I have a favorite wooden spatula that I use any time I cook, and a favorite fork, it has only *three prongs, lol. It's the most basic model of a fork, and I love it. 😊❤👍🌻
I like the same spoon. A lil bit wider, and almost no point. Beans look awesome. I usually and pico de gallo when I take it off the heat or in my bowl.
Hi Arnie, I love your recipes! Do these beans stay good for a couple days after they are made if i want to make them ahead of time for a party the next day?
When I make beans I soak them overnight in salted water. Then I cook them low and slow for the rest of the day. Have you ever soaked beans overnight in salted water? The chicken stock is new to me but I’m definitely going to try it.
Hey Arnie, we followed the recipe exactly as you did it, however we didn't get nearly as much caldo as you did, by any chance did you add extra water off camera? And if so how much? The frijoles still came out amazing but I just wish it had as much caldo as yours!
Thanks Arnie! I do have a favorite spoon. 😄 it's a small one and I like it for things like tea and ice cream, not very good for eating an actual meal though.
Past couple years I've been using an instant pot for my beans mainly for speed, about 40 minutes. What are some pro's and cons of pressure cooking the beans?
Does anyone know what tabletop burner he uses? It’s not from the sponsor because I checked their website but in a lot of his videos it looks pretty awesome and I could use something like that for entertaining outdoors compared to a blackstone.
when i was a kid, every single piece of silverware we had was different, and i definitely had my favorite fork and spoon. now i'm lazy and i just use plasticware.
were i worked that was a guy there that was drunk all the time so i named him macho BORRACHO ! he wore it like a badge of courage un tell he found out what the word BORRACHO meant
im a southern boy so i would have to make some cornbread to go with those beans, looks great sir!
Yes, I have a favorite spoon. I started using it when I was quite young and when I moved out of my mother's home I took it with me. I moved out in 1972.
Thanks Arnie for being you! I use and love alot of your recipes and just wanna say thanks for everything!
Arnie, you are a god among men! I don’t know how I’m just finding your channel but your cooking and energy is amazing.
Keep it up!
In Guatemala 🇬🇹 we eat white beans with pork ribs inside the stew. So good. Reminds me of the borracho beans

Can't believe you don't have a lot more subscribers.

Looks bomb, but I wish the recipe was in the description.
I'm sitting here at 11:00 at night uncomfortably full and watching a fellow Texan make up a pot of beans and it's making me hungry....
That looks delicious, I tried the street tacos, came out great 👍 ❤
I like the same spoon. A lil bit wider, and almost no point. Beans look awesome. I usually and pico de gallo when I take it off the heat or in my bowl.
Hi Arnie, I love your recipes! Do these beans stay good for a couple days after they are made if i want to make them ahead of time for a party the next day?
Have to let them cool and they put them in the fridge!
Not a big bean eater, but I would like to try these. Looks delicious.
