The big cardboard is also good for woodworking layouts (like I did for my clamp rack before hanging it) or even doing a super-rudimentary mockup to see furniture dimensions before using any proper wood.

Well they are probably super efficient with 90-whatever percent of packages, so they must be directed to not waste too much time if the "best" isn't super close/convenient/whatever.

Yeah, it has to be an efficiency thing. There's no way this worker just decided that.

Would love to see the mic stand. I scrolled until it was not in the thumbnails and you mention it. Pine, two shelves, pocket holes, maybe glue? Brief peek and describe how it was put together. The mundane is only mundane to you. Looking forward to Bass guitar coming in the shop.

it's amazing that amazon is profitable considering a lot of their shipping shenanigans. while i had some crazy oversized boxes up in the bay area, down here in SD, i've had that plus just a ton of damaged products and "lost deliveries". they suck something awful, but aren't we all just suckers for convivence...

Convenience is a trap and sadly, in my area, it's difficult to find many things locally. 😥
