They are too focused on getting everyone through quickly (not such a bad thing).
Gotta say that it is pretty hypocritical for Bradenton to be giving you grief for running under 10.0. If you have watched any of Cleetus McFarland’s videos you have seen him let a bunch of his buddies make multiple 8 second passes awhile back in his red Corvette. And none of them had either an NHRA license nor even any experience driving even a sub 12 second car. And then the other day his video (hilarious) was about one of his employees (George) popping big wheelies and making 10 second passes in a Chevy Blazer with zero safety equipment. And George was wearing only a helmet and no fire jacket. All of this filmed right there on the Bradenton track. I enjoy Cleetus’s videos as much as the next enthusiast but just saying.
You make some good points. I can also offer that the number of Teslas that show up out there is clearly going down. It may take a few years, but based on all the other drag strips closing (Atlanta, Palm Beach, etc), they may need to adapt at some point to keep the revenue flowing. Which rules will the new Electric Dodges have to follow? We can only wonder... But for the moment, they seem content to be...(how shall we put it?)..."selective" about their application of rules...
@@TeslaPlaidChannel - I understand the liability aspects )for the track owner) related to enforcing safety and an NHRA track having to follow NHRA safety rules in order to remain in good standing with the NHRA so they can host NHRA sanctioned events ($). I just see a lot of “selectivity” related to when, and to whom they choose to enforce the rules.
Corvette guy was a sportsman...not only brings a pretty wife to the track but she seems to enjoy it...tell him he is a lucky man, not many wives want any part of drag racing!...Andrew, invite him down to Showtime, buy him and his wife a HAMBURGER!...LOLOL BTW, what ever happened to your dragy....BE interested to see how close it is to the track!
I wish that the track officials would let you run flat out in a drag race. I honestly can't understand their reasoning in letting you run flat out in a roll race and not in a drag race. Looking at the roll race event from a legal/insurance position I'm slightly surprised that they are willing to take liability for that type of event as a roll race and a drag race have separate definitions as to the type of events they are and would require different wording in a contract/policy to be covered. The only reason that I mention this is because in my younger days I used to race in auto cross and flat track events and the attorneys/insurance providers required different liability waivers and insurance policies for different formats of racing even if they were held at the same location on the same day.
@@john-martin I understand that, but from my 30 years of racing experience I learned long ago that racers (especially those who aren't competitive) will complain about anything and everything and turn on you faster than a mother-in-law if it will benefit them. The thing that I question is does the track insurance cover roll racing in the same capacity that it covers drag racing as the two forms of racing are clearly different and (from my experience) when it comes to legal contracts and liability the devil is in the details in those matters. Apparently roll racing and drag racing aren't defined in the same manner under the NHRA which is why the same rules don't apply to each of them so it brings up the question of is the track covered under the same insurance policy and willing to accept liability if an accident happens during a roll race event as it would be under a drag race event? Clearly most cars are reaching a higher rate of speed in a roll race event than they would be in a drag race event and the race format is conducted in a different manner as well. There's also several other things that an experienced civil attorney could submit as well as to the difference between drag racing and roll racing
Like you don't already know the results of a 1/4mile race? do it 10X and you get the same 10X results. you already know the Chiron can only win a roll race in 1st gear at 50mph (~yellow-line) when all 4 turbos are on and full spool. at 60mph, plaid wins again. But who wins 0-163(0-200 with limiter update) or at 10, 20, 30, 40, 70, 80, 90 roll races?
It must be emasculating to ICE drivers to be told to make it competitive, you'll hit the brakes hard early and give them almost a second head start.... and still win.
Does it hurt to lose to this Tesla? He drives in with groceries in the back seat..street tires. The competitors drive in with a trailer and a car with a parachute - that that spent countless hours and money on. When they race do they think...hmm...maybe it's time to buy a Tesla? - Or do they think...I will spend some more money on a bigger turbo and beat him next time?
I wonder the same! I have a Plaid and took it to the Drags. I raced a blown 2015 Camaro that ran a 10.7 at 133. I ran a 10.07 at 90 mph after letting off after the 1/8. That has to be demoralizing to lose to a stock car that only accelerated for half the track after all the work they put into it. Cars were definitely avoiding me in the staging lanes. I have a 67 Camaro SS that I also ran at the strip and I was demoralized running it after the Plaid! Haha
Orlando Speed World (NHRA 1/4 mile) does not require a roll cage as long as the car is “100% factory production stock”. That also means no weight removal, no changing tires or wheels, no changes whatsoever. Since a cage is far heavier than removing a seat, there’s no point in adding one. The Model S structure was strong enough to break the hydraulic press during the roof crush test, and I take safety seriously as you can see from my SFI-rated gear from shoes to helmet and everything between. This track (Bradenton) lets the Plaid run flat out for roll racing. See the first race in this video, over 150MPH. But they still say “no faster than 9.90” for drag racing. Whatever, their track their rules. And this is why we very rarely race here anymore (just once in the last two months). See any of the other (over two hundred) Plaid races posted here if you prefer no early braking. The vast majority are flat out.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Sorry, it was my understanding that Bradenton wouldn't allow anything faster than 9.90 unless the car had a roll cage. Why does Bradenton have this 9.90 restriction?
@@logicn.reasoning9744 Bradenton says that it’s their standing track rule, and several other Plaid drivers have debated it with them to no avail (both Joe and Rusty as seen on this channel). It’s especially confusing because they allow flat out for roll racing, but then the restriction applies to drag racing only. I talk about this in Part 1 of this video (with the green AMG in the thumbnail). And then many ICE drivers tell me that they are never warned about it, even though they are running deep into the nines. Selective enforcement? Their track their rules I guess…
C7 owner wasn't happy about the result he want to give him enough to let him win not a sportsmanship i hate his attitude after the race as of you r not generous enough for giving him 0.76 head start more Than what he asked for. Edit: I was talking about first drag race with him.

Corvette guy was a sportsman...not only brings a pretty wife to the track but she seems to enjoy it...tell him he is a lucky man, not many wives want any part of drag racing!...Andrew, invite him down to Showtime, buy him and his wife a HAMBURGER!...LOLOL
BTW, what ever happened to your dragy....BE interested to see how close it is to the track!
Cool
Yeah go against that monte carlo im sure thats be a competition 😂 😂
A lot of it is pressure from the other racers complaining about getting smashed by an E vehicle.
My understanding is it's the national drag race association rules
Plaid vs Chiron please make it happen
As soon as one shows up at any of my 3 local dragstrips…
@@TeslaPlaidChannel At $3.96 MILLION, plus tax, doubt if any Bug gotti's will ever show up at a public drag strip! ROTFLMFAO
Why, the Vette is still a very fast car... Not to mention better looking and handles and brakes better than the Tesla.
Your funny! Your intro shows a car with an ENGINE!
It's the sound of the ICE car getting passed...
Haha
He never races with groceries in the back- that'll smash the bread, crack the eggs, explode the soda and spill the milk :)
Actually, there was racing after a Costco haul last year: ua-cam.com/video/FVYOaLb2ZOI/v-deo.html
Starts becoming a bit daft when you "race" giving the opposition a 3/4 second (plus) headstart.
Steve specifically requested that head start. I only obliged…
@@TeslaPlaidChannel I'm looking forward to your upcoming unrestricted run video!
Why did they name it the Plaid? I think Tesla should of named it something cooler like the Telsa SC. SC for Soul Crusher.
It’s a silly name for sure, from an even sillier movie: ua-cam.com/video/mk7VWcuVOf0/v-deo.html
@@TeslaPlaidChannel that's hilarious! Well I guess it's safe to say where Elon got his inspiration for naming this car lol
@@TeslaPlaidChannel It is such an old movie I often wonder how many people get the reference
@@TeslaPlaidChannel I still feel you should wear a DARK HELMET
What the hell andrew don't ever give that vette a chance. If that vette owner wants to win, he should trade his vette for a plaid.
Why not? I still won all 9 races.
(All 5 in part one, plus these 4)
@@TeslaPlaidChannel LOL. I saw that. That was awesome. Love the channel. Keep up the great work.
Good sport and fun between friends.
No gas no squeegee!
Is there an update on the roll cage? Watching you slam on the brakes at the end of the quarter is unwatchable.
Their track their rules I guess…
bro take it easy with that tesla XD ...... let the other cars win. Youre destroying their spirits hahaha #owned #TeslaArmy
You are way too nice to these guys! To me they seem bitter!
C7 owner wasn't happy about the result he want to give him enough to let him win not a sportsmanship i hate his attitude after the race as of you r not generous enough for giving him 0.76 head start more Than what he asked for.
Edit: I was talking about first drag race with him.
No one is happy when they take 2nd place in a drag race, myself included... I thought Steve was a great sport and a lot of fun to try different things. Some guys would just decline to race at all, and then I'd be stuck racing a bone-stock 6-cylinder car of some kind...
@@TeslaPlaidChannel I doubt anyone else there was as close as you were making it for him but I can see where you are coming from.
Imagine software controlled ET. None of this “hard on the brakes” crap.
Man the plaid is the best for sure , what apathetic garbage C7 I would not even waste my battery on Any C's .................
Doesn't matter how fast is an electric car, the sound isn't there=boring
Makes sense. And the first motorcars were especially lame because they didn’t smell like horse poop.
Someone's hurry haha
@@leexgabriel Well if that is all he needs to convince him electric is the wave of the future, the Plaid can always Play a recording of a Hellcat going down the track from its front mounted speaker....and after it wins. Play the FART recording....Anything to make ICE believers happy! Idiot posters everyday...
