    100% you can fail the test if you suffer from anxiety and your naturally a worried person in general.

    I took a polygraph test for the first time last year without informing the examiner I had been accused of what I was taking the polygraph test for (infidelity) by my wife all day everyday for over a year at that point. It was ripping our marriage apart. It was my idea to take the polygraph. I figured I’ll definitely pass it because I’m telling the truth and it will solve everything. I figured it’s def worth the $300 I was going to pay. It came up that I was being deceptive on every single question on the test which was of course regarding the infidelity who it was with etc. I was devastated and it has made my life a million times worse. I remember being so anxious to get it out of the way and it all back fired. Now she thinks she was right all along. I never knew anything about taking polygraphs. I wish i did. The test was also very short. No more then say 20 min. It’s made my marriage and life 1000x worse. I don’t know what to do at this point. Now she questions every single thing I do regardless of how benign it might be. Everything I do now or say is now in question. I’ve never lied to my wife especially about infidelity. 15 years married and it’s being ruined over (ironically ) lies. I’m lost at what to do. Be careful!!!

      Hi Mr. Lefebvre,
      The polygraph is an instrument that a professional expert uses to perform an expertise. This is important to understand. The instrument does, on its own, work.
      It is difficult to give an opinion without having access to the polygraph information, however, a 20 minutes test is not a polygraph test.

      @@Bearforensics thanks for the info. Appreciate it. 20 min did not seem appropriate at all.

      These things are far from 98-99% accurate. Many factors can contribute to giving a true answer a false lie detected. Anxiety and stress ARE factors. Most importantly, if you are trying to control your emotions or forcing yourself to relax you will be pinged as lying. Polygraphs are used by PD as a way to intimidate and force confessions from those who do not understand the test. And that is their only usefulness. Outside that, these things need to be banned until they "fix" them to be more accurate. Would you want a doctor operating on you that has lost 30-50% of their patients on the table?

    Yea this isn’t true, the polygraph test only records your body’s response.
    Sweat, blood pressure, breathing...
    If your nervous you can fail...

      Aaron E can confirm. I was telling the truth but because I was a little nervous I kinda bombed it

      I've taken two polygraph exams so far in my life and I have passed both of them. I was really nervous for both exams even though I was truthful in my background packet and didn't have anything to hide. As stated in this video, it's a natural response and the examiner will know the difference between natural nervousness vs being deceptive based on the deviations of your natural nervousness.

      I took two polygraphs and failed both even though I was 100% truthful down to minute details in my packet. I was extremely nervous though. Put a lot of pressure on myself. Even my examiner believed I was telling the truth but the computer algorithm said otherwise. I’m not a fan. Polygraphs are too unreliable.

      Does that actually mean your denied right away? Cuz yeah I’m nervous. I’m nervous when my blood pressure is being taken. Their are other ways for detecting lies.

    What is you’re taking Zoloft for social anxiety?

    • @Bearforensics
      @Bearforensics  5 років тому

      It is possible that some physiological activity might be affected by Sertaline (Zoloft). However, it will not distort polygraph readings. It can diminish certain readings but not distort them.

    What if you take Adderall? Could this affect the outcome of the exam?

    • @Bearforensics
      @Bearforensics  3 роки тому

      It is possible that there might be an effect but this does not necessarily mean that a polygraph test cannot be done. It is when somebody is connected to the polygraph that the examiner knows if the readings are sufficient to render an opinion. Every person is different too and the effects can show in different ways. However, that condition will be stable during the whole test so that the examiner can take this into consideration.

      Dear Deron,
      Yes the eye detector is a different test. A polygraph test is a different type of test.

    Good day/night where ever you may be in the world and i hope all is well. Id like you to explain more about the comment you made regarding repeated false accusations and how it may effect the test please? Thank you.

    • @Bearforensics
      @Bearforensics  4 роки тому +2

      Dear ay dee,
      Every person is different and the examiner needs to understand how affected a person might be by an issue.
      Somebody who has been repeatedly falsely accused can develop a guilty complex that can make it more difficult to have a conclusive test result. That is why the polygraph examiner needs to understand this and take the time to explain the process and understand the mental state of the examiner.

    plethysmograph how is it used on a polygraph?

    • @Bearforensics
      @Bearforensics  4 роки тому

      A plethysmograph might also be a part of the registering channels in a polygraph. This additional measurement tool can be used but does not necessarily make part of a "normal" polygraph instrument.

    if you are police applicant doing a polygraph test and you become nervous and come of the room before answering three question will you give another chance to do it over?

    • @Bearforensics
      @Bearforensics  4 роки тому

      Hello Francis,
      That will depend on the agency that invited you for the test. The best option is to ask them what their policy is.

    • @Bearforensics
      @Bearforensics  4 роки тому

      Dear Dhaliwal Sonu,
      The polygraph instrument will still record physiological changes. Drugs don't stop people's breathing, heart beat, sweat.

    • @Bearforensics

      Hello Ms. Perfect Red,
      Unfortunately we do not have enough information about the effect of PTSD on a polygraph test. However, Ms. Perfect this medical condition should not have a real impact on the polygraph readings.
