  • Enjoy the video as we continue our handover of the Hallberg Rassy 44 on deck and complete our first sail in the fjord outside of Ellös Sweden. This video includes time with Martin, the master rigger at Hallberg Rassy. We become familiar with the in mast furling and electric furling headsail as well as all the lines. We discuss back up systems if these electrical systems fail. Our sail through the fjords is glorious and leads me to sail to Norway over the weekend(next video) while Nicole prepares meals for our upcoming 2600 NM sail to Mallorca.

    The boat is absolutely stunning ❤. Those sails are beautiful, and the teak immaculate. She sails like a dream (30 degrees off the wind 😳). Congratulations !!!

      Agree! Hardtop is a game changer. Only downside is it’s a bit of a squeeze to get back into the cockpit in front of the pedestal.

    She’s a beautiful boat - congrats 🙌 Was good to see Ludvig working happily in this sea trial, he’s my man too - I am waiting patiently in the queue for my 340 to be completed next year. All the best for your adventures getting over to the Meds and I’m sure more to come.

    The thing about Sweden and most of Europe is almost everyone speaks English. I have to say though Sweden had the nicest people I have ever encountered traveling abroad. Denmark too.

    Really nice and our favorite sailboat brand! -- QUESTION -- One issue we have is the reflexive "sailboat vs catamaran" debate. We hear from many who tell us you "must" by a catamaran. Can I ask what you answer is to this as I am sure it was a consideration for you too. Not sure why exactly, but we like sailboats more.

    • @sailinghaldis
      @sailinghaldis  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you! 😊 That’s a personal decision but I never considered a catamaran. I’ve always been a sailboat guy. My “mission” is offshore cruising. In the last month we’ve sailed, motorsailed and motored 2600 NM. To do this in a catamaran, I would have to deal with 2 engines and mooring logistics. They certainly are bigger and more comfortable but remember they also come with a mandatory escape hatch on the bottom!!

      Thanks. I’m keen to see the whole of the stay sail setup. It seems to be set close to the jib. Do you have a working stay sail to use with it, or will it just be for a storm stay sail? Thanks. Lots of great options choices throughout. Well done. Regards, Rick.

    • @sailinghaldis
      @sailinghaldis  Місяць тому

      That’s your working staysail. If you choose to buy one. I opted for a storm jib. It’s a good size. If adverse weather is a possibility, best option is to pre rig the inner forestay and hank on the sail, lashing it to the deck(you’ll need those fittings added).

    • @luisbelmonte1532
      @luisbelmonte1532 Місяць тому

      @@sailinghaldis anchoring near Barcelona is near to impossible. Maybe try some miles south around the ports of Vilanova, Garraf, Sitges. You could try north near Masnou or Mataró. However the prevailing winds, deep waters and marine traffic makes it difficult.
