Another great Alabama adventure with Daniel. This time we located another lost cemetery in the woods. We searched for this one for hours. We had a GPS location for it, but it was in the wrong place... eventually we found it. It’s always interesting to find these old forgotten cemeteries deep on the backroads.

That makes me want to cry. Many stillbirth babies were named “Baby” and whatever the last name was.

@@IrishAnnie My brother died at birth, 66 years ago, I was 7 years old. He only lived 3 hrs.. and died by accident. He was never named, because my mom and dad were in shock, and pain. He never had a head stone, because of the money situation, but over the years, I always said, I would by one for him. I bought it about 30 yrs. ago, it's a pretty little stone with a vase beside it for flowers, with Little Boy Blue Under the Haystack fast asleep on his stone. The moral is, sometimes there is no time, they slip away before you know it.

patricia lenaburg I’m so sorry. My family had a very similar situation. My eldest brother would have been 64 years old this year. He only lived a couple of days. My parents named him Luigi. 🙏🏻❤️ Over 40 years he didn’t have a head stone. We bought him a beautiful one in 2002. 🌹❤️🙏🏻

I wonder if the reason so many babies died was due to “Birmingham Cholera Epidemic of 1873”. The article stated people were panicking and moving..etc... Sort of like today with COVID... only this was children it was taking.
These videos have a way of making my soul be still and think about what people experienced over 100 years ago compared to our modern medical advances. Their sorrow and confusion. I wonder if they had more peace in their souls because of the relationship they had with God verses today’s ....... society has taken God out of everything ...were they held on tight to Him. They had true fear of God...our society does not.
Your new camera is wonderful! The quality of video taping is fabulous 👍👍
    Thanks for another great visit.

Jayne I appreciate your considered thoughts. People in earlier times did have more occasion to be surrounded by untimely deaths. It was just a part of "life" that they weren't shielded from even beginning in childhood.

If you look at the dates, the poor wife rarely had time to recuperate from the last one before becoming pregnant again, which resulted in a series of deaths of babes only lasting a year. Poor health of the mom and infant with constant pregnancies meant lost babes.

I think this is the saddest cemetery I have seen you document. I just kept saying "Aww, another sweet baby." I believe the memory doesn't die as long as the names are mentioned. You have kept these little angels in memory. I read an article that said that the infant mortality rate in the 1800's was 43.4% It has fallen to 3.4%. Unimaginable. Thank you for your efforts. and all you do to document these cemeteries.

    • @jendyson6729
      @jendyson6729 4 роки тому

I read that there was a trend, due to the great chance of a baby not surviving the first five years of life to not really name the child. Some families would refer to their baby as the little angel or the little visitor like somehow it would make the loss less painful if and when it happened. So sad, thank God for modern medicine.

I used to maintain a small family cemetery in the middle of a huge pine plantation. Out of the 25 graves 17 were children and six were siblings that died at birth up to the age of 14. Only 2 out of 9 siblings survived until adulthood. Love your vids. As always look out for the flowers planted there. They can date the cemetery.

Thank you, Robert, Daniel, and Cody, always thrilled when I get a notification from you. You nailed it again, another old cemetery, but sad also. Many of these babies could have died from many types of diseases, a common cold could turn into pneumonia back then, as well as flues, and such. without antibiotics it happened a lot. My dad had 3 siblings who died as babies, ranging, from 5-6 mons. old, that was in the 1920s. Great video.

No, some of those women had husbands who wouldn't give them a chance to rest between yearly pregnancies. If you look at the birth and death dates, she was already pregnant within months of the last one. Her health had to be very poor, which meant unhealthy babes. It was very sad to see all those children's graves. They never had a chance.

Awesome! I love finding places like this too. A lot of times, they could practically be in your backyard, but you would never know about them if you've never done research on your area. Even if you have, you could still miss places like these if you blink. I recently found a place just like this less than a mile from my house that I previously didn't know existed - after 20 years of living in the area!

At first I despaired of hearing any birdsong to keep them company. But eventually, I did hear some in the quiet background. ---Those stones were exceptionally well-made. Nice to see the brooms in action for us.---One thought I had about multiple infants in one family was to wonder about Rh factor. The first born would have been safe, but subsequent babes would not.

Am I the only one who clicks on the like button before watching? Always know Robert, Cody ,Brian and friends are going to take us on another amazing adventure....and the places they find, the respect and care there give to those buried in old forgotten cemetery’s is second to none. I love the way Robert uses his special torch to read inscriptions, and particularly how he traces letters with his fingers...the letters seem to jump out to be read when he does that. Cody has learnt a lot too being with Robert, and also has a sharp eye now for indentations, bottles, things of interest.
Whatever they do, wherever they go, you can count on learning something new and it’s done in such a restful way...if you understand me,
I live in the U.K., so sadly doubt I will ever manage to visit Georgia, but you make me feel I am with you in your presentations.
I like that Robert always tries to read out the names and inscriptions...so sad to see how young a lot of them were, and all the children lost.
Just saying their names out aloud brings back respect to those who passed and will be pleased to know they have not been entirely forgotten over time after all. Also that he brings American flags to place at graves of men who died in wars of the past.So Thankyou boys for all your hard work finding these places..( know it can take a lot of driving, searching, then hacking through brush ) stay safe, watch out for snakes 🐍and ticks!! And keep doing your enthralling explorations! Love and hugs to you all from Helen 🙋‍♀️😘👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻☕️☕️☕️🍺🍺🍺🔦🚿🪓🥇🥇🥇💾🏆 ( ps just have to say I love how you say “Darling “in your Alabama’s accent! 💕...dont panic! I’m 68! Lol😁XX)

Love your persistence. LOL Sad. A lot of little children. Oh I am hating the ads that are now popping up all over YT. Every 3 - 4 minutes.

I don't have ads anymore. I have Adblock Plus. I've watched three of my vlogs and it has blocked 11 ads.

I don't skip the ads so i can help the vlogger. The vlogger Robert will earn money from UA-cam if we don't skip ads. I enjoy watching the cemetery videos that's why i don't skip ads to help Robert's efforts to tour us in the old and abandoned cemeteries

It's amazing how well stamped cement has held up after 150 years. Better than a lot of expensive marble.

A family in my tree lost 12 out of 14 kids......a flu epidemic. The mother died as well (2nd wife)...surviving a 3 year old and a 17 year old.....and the Dad. So sad.

Another amazing discovery boys! Sad seeing all these children die so early. Stay safe and may God be with you.

Impressive how the trees protected those stones so you could read them. Your new camera is awesome.

It's sad to think about these children who were born in the same years as my great grandparents. They missed out on life while one of my great grandmothers made it to almost 104 years old.
