My beautiful best friend died from cancer aged 33 in 1997 leaving 2 girls. She had chosen this song for her funeral as soon as she knew she was terminal. She went into a coma at home on a Friday and we went straight up there. I sat with her, talking to her, fulling expecting her to wake up. Then her little 2 yr old came in and said mama to her and there was nothing, no flicker of her eyes and then I knew and started to sob. I told her how much I loved her and what she meant to me. We left late, my husband was a prisoner officer and was on early shift but we were coming back when he got home. I rang during the morning and she was still the same at home. Then my husband got home, walked in and said to me that her daughter Cass had just rung him instead of me to say that she had died, it was horrendous. I was bawling as we got into the car for the over an hour drive and this came on as soon as he turned on the car. I’ve heard this at times in my life when something upsetting has happened and I like to think that it’s my darling friend, letting me know that she’s still around. I cry still every time I hear it. Miss you Meredith 💔
I just subbed! Great reaction! I appreciate your genuine, emotional response❤😊. Music isn't meant to be heard, it's made to be felt and I'm sure you felt that! Thank you for sharing!🥰
As a musician REM is one of my top 10 bands for a few reasons with songs like Fall On Me, Losing My Religion, The One I Love, Its The End Of The World & so many more
I love REM, and used to own the album it came from, Automatic for the People, but this song is the best from that album, which is full of brilliant songs.
I agree music can definitely help whith emotionel problems for me im a lost course seeing death and bad stuff when I served in Irak Afghanistan Mali it has made me dead inside in a way but working on it every day 😊
Amazing reaction as usual - I love watching the two of you enjoying music. I have a recommendation that I hope you can do for me: Shout Baby by Ryokuoushoku Shakai. It is a first take, therefore it is a live performance. A big hug for both of you. Stay safe and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do listening to that song.
my younger brother committed suicide in 1991, I very rarely dwell on it till a particular thing reminds me of it, he would have been 5 years younger than me now and I'm 66 life teaches you many lessons
I feel like the visuals and captions in the REM video don't match the level of despair in the lyrics of the song. The video could have hit much harder than it did but I think they wanted to lessen the punch.
What should we react to next from REM?

R.E.M. has such a timeless vibe, and those tracks are absolute classics!

This song is relevant in the UK at this moment in time as the Labour Party has just shown their true colours.
Michael Stipes vocals always hit me hard on this one
Totally agree!
Hi you should react to early REM # the king of birds, find the river. To me only REM nothing else.❤❤❤
You missed the end bit!
Can't watch Lulu start sipping 😪 I start doing the same 🙈
