Yes, but It is even worse than that. People complaining that the 'radio' being confusing to use is a 'problem' to them. Radio isn't broken, peoples' reading of the manual is broken. Same with transmissions. Not really broken or bad, just different feeling than a 'regular' one people had 10 years ago. Rarely is a transmission dying or a radio not actually working.
Yep, that the biggest flaw with CR and JD Power self reported studies. Even the blue tooth not functioning well or being too confusing counts as being undependable. In fact, most issues on these reports are due to tech, like infotainment and connectivity. A better study would actually compare repairs performed.
Dodge is still in business because of the the charger and challenger. Jeep is still in business because they make amazing off road capable cars. Chrysler I have no idea.
+Lowell Dizon 1998 that's what, 17 years old. I have a Ford truck from 1982 still runs fine, when I run it. Subaru wagon takes the brunt of my daily driving though. I put shitload of miles on that car every month. No issues ever.
+TekReview's I guess I've been lucky with my other Toyotas. 2007 Corolla with110K miles is bullet-proof! 2010 Highlander with 70K miles that had a water pump replaced last year, otherwise a great car!
yes its incredulous that Audi is even in top 10. Their reliability is horrible and the BIGGEST drawback to EVER considering an Audi. Prepare to spend loads on spare parts and repairs if you consider an Audi
cant believe he said that audi all german cars spend more time in the dealership getting fix oops sorry they are trying to fix your car. same goes for toyota#1 my ass here in the shop we have frame truck, engine oil consumption issues electrical, and wait off course CVT transmission like any other cars like honda, nissan
Hammer: Data is an actual "thing". The world changes. That's why it's good that Consumer Reports doesn't take ads and is objective. Chevy's Cruz is objectively very good. Toyota's Tacoma is pretty bad. C.R. points this out instead of just assuming they're like the rest of the car lines? Why? DATA. See how that's different than "hearing" something and assuming the world never changes?
Honestly... When purchasing my first car I went to a Honda dealership. The company owns a Mazda dealership literally across the street. I was in love with the exterior appearance but... Mazdas have such a bad rep I didn't buy it. I'm shocked it did better than Honda according to this video.
Rashonda Yanic Mazdas are great... I'm not just saying that because I love the looks / design etc.... I'am saying that from my experience with their car My 1997 Mazda 323f is still fully functional and in excellent condition.. This car never dies that's for sure xD
Haitham H I have a 96 Ford F150 with 5.0L Windsor V8 with 203,393 miles on it and it's still going strong. The only thing I replaced on my truck was the starter but other than that mostly was just simple maintenance and cleaned out the transmission fluid just to get rid of the shuttering it was making and it hasn't had a problem ever since. Call me a Redneck or a HillBilly but my 96 F150 will outlast anything you see on the road today plus my truck looks better than anything you see on the road today as well.
omnipotentum clearly you've never driven quality Japanese brands like Mazda or Lexus. Mazda is like BMW but MUCH more reliable. Lexus is like Mercedes but MUCH more reliable.
People get mad whenever I warn them about Chrysler Products but I really hold no malice towards the company. I've owned a 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport 2WD. I traded it in for a 1999 4WD I got about 120,000 trouble filled miles before it was finally declared unsafe to drive due to frame rust. My sister purchased a 2006 Jeep Commander against my repeated warnings. The car had serious electrical problems including the horn blowing and lights flashing at unexpected intervals. The Jeep Dealer claimed it was a short in the wiring harness and charged her $1200 dollars to replace it. A few weeks later the problem returned. I went on an owners club site and found out that several owners were having the same problem. Apparently the electronic seats were cutting into the wiring harness causing the short. We asked Chrysler why they were charging customers for repairs instead of issuing a recall...no response (of course). The sad fact was I loved my truck when it wasn't in the shop. It got me through some of the roughest winters on record and drove like a dream (again, when it wasn't in the shop). People need to stop taking these testimonials as personal attacks and listen to what owners are telling you. Chrysler vehicles have had the longest track record of unreliability in the industry. Reliability ratings are based on owner experiences not Consumer Reports opinions.
... but if one of your Chrysler vehicles broke down in the middle of a snowstorm miles from home just once... would that count as "getting you through" the winter? ;)
yea that random horn blasting was common, a friend had that with a Chrysler Sebring. My family had '86 and '96 s10. the '86 died of natural causes, high miles wore out the rings. '96 had problems with trans, fuel pump, and brake wiring.
I also had a domestic car filled with problems. My Dodge neon at 80k was filled with electrical problems, after dropping $3000 on it didn't even make it to the 100k miles mark before it died on me. Sadly when it comes to cars, Made in USA is as bad as it gets.
Audi is 3rd? That's a joke! Every single person I talked to that had owned an Audi said that theirs broke halfway through their time of owning it "don't know the technical term" 😋
That has to be a joke, Audi has the least realible engines. Why are reliability results from consumer reports SO different from any other reliability results from other sources?
My 1.8T is at 185k without a problem.. I know lots of people with old VW/Audi cars. Take care of the damn thing, and you'll see why VW and Audi have a huge fanbase..
Heartagram A personal experience doesn't mean anything. Statistics from many studies out there show that VW, BMW and especially Audi are not reliable at all. Also no one says that some cars do have problems more often but they are problems concerning cheap part of the car to repair while BMW has a huge problems with their turbos, Audi and VW with their engines in general, this is not the same thing as repairing some shitty piece of plastic inside the car.
Giorgio Fabietti First of all, statistics are not facts. Secondly, it's surprising that you defy your logic by disregarding the statistical reports that show Audis to be very reliable. Interestingly, I've noticed Buick always ranks higher than GMC and Chevy...You and I both know that mechanically speaking, they are the same shit, but why the disparity? Mechanically speaking, they are the same, so why are Buicks ranked higher? Shouldn't they be the same? Yes, they should, but I believe the answer lies in the type of person that drives a Buick. Buick drivers are more likely to better take care of their car in contrast to a Chevy owner. In other words, it's a people problem.
Heartagram Surely the way someone treats a car modify it's reliability, you get a point but i wasn't denying that. As i wrote in my first comment i'm surprised that Audi was ranked 1st in terms of riliability by Consumer Reports because there are alot of other sources that rank Audi at the bottom of engine reliability and among average of general raliability. I'm talking about 1 engine failure every 27 cars, to put it in perspective Honda has a failure ratio of 1 in 344, mercedes 1 in 120 etcetera. I honestly don't know how Consumer Reports ranking works. I don't know if it is a "percieved reliability" from owners, if it's made working with car insurance agencies, if it's made from an irrevelant survey or what but i guess that they just take the numbers of failures or problems that a car has, not the entity of it. Because a company that is among the worst regarding engine failures doesn't deserve the first rank in any reliability ranking in my hopinion. I'm not a native english speaker btw so i'm sorry if i made some mistake.
As someone mentioned in response to another comment, Audi doesn't sell as many diesels in North America, relative to gasoline engines, as it does in Europe. If the diesel engines are the source of the brand's reliability issues, that could explain why Consumer Reports finds Audi so much more reliable than its reputation elsewhere would indicate. Consumer Reports measures reliability with a survey of CR subscribers. The survey generally asks how many issues the owner has had, when they had them, and what sort of issues they were. They only report reliability if they get above some threshold number of responses for a given make, model, and year. Reliability is mostly relative to other models, though a model can get very good or very poor reliability marks for having fewer or more issues per car per year than certain thresholds (e.g., less than 1% or more than 3% of cars having problems per year), regardless of how the competition does. I think Heartagram has a good point about the type of person who buys a brand having an influence on its reliability. Buick also benefits from having a lot of models that haven't been updated in a while, so the worst initial-quality bugs have been sorted out, but Buick drivers are probably also more cautious and sensible than drivers of, say, BMWs or Fiats. Similarly, Subarus are popular with people who prioritize practicality over performance, and the two exceptions to that rule (the BRZ and the WRX) are also the least reliable models Subaru makes, according to CR.
not surprisingly, my wife's 2015 honda fit has been an absolute dream. the cvt is probably the only one I've ever experienced that doesn't make me feel like someone hooked one of those late 90s "as seen on tv" automatic bicycle shifters to the car.
If reliability is your major concern when buying a car then look no further than a Toyota. They might not be very exciting vehicles but they will last forever.
Toyota and Lexus will always stay King when it comes to reliability! Gotta 2003 tundra with 200,000 miles and runs like a charm fresh out the factory!💪🏽
+Coffa Boom ....and I'll bet the paint is still as gorgeous as the day you bought it. Inside and out Toyota and Lexus, especially Japanese manufactured ones, are far and away the best vehicles on earth.
we dont know if they will ALWAYS stay this way. sure thing is that they are now king of kings in reliability, and smoothness. also lexus LS is the quietest most acoustically tight car in the world. Gs 350 is famous for being a Giant killer as it outperforms E350 and 535i. camry v6 is faster than a v6 CAMARO. so yeah
But wait, people keep saying Kia is crap? I mean, all we can do is keep repeating what we thought we knew from 10 years ago without ever doing more research - nevermind Kia is hardly the same company now that it was then. I've owned a few Kias and they've been great.
I have a Kia Soul 2013 which I've been driving for almost 2 years now and it has not given me any troubles. I bought it used with 24,000 and I am about to reach 45,000.
Hahaha, as usual, our American cars are trash. What hasn't changed since the late 60's. As far as Nissan goes, Nissan is the Dodge of Japan. While here in America we think Nissans are great, in Japan they are usually at the bottom of the reliability list. That just goes to show how poor our cars are by comparison. Why you people keep buying American junk is beyond me. Don't you guys remember how badly they screwed you? Especially from the 80's into the 2000's??????....Oh yea 'Merica that's why.
Nissans used to be good in the early 90's. I must say I do love the Nissan GT-R though and the new Titan seems like it's gonna be a good truck.( not Nissan engine)
+Fifthcell ...I owned a 96 Nissan Hardbody pickup. It did seem to have a lot of issues. Brakes failed. Paint peeled. But finally the emissions failed and no one could fix it. I was forced to trade it off because it would not pass an emissions test. I don't miss it at all.
Now that I'm saying it... About 70% of the Nissans in America are almost full-on American made... The only ones that are actually 90+% Japanese have to be the Nissan Z and the Nissan GT-R... So sad...
just about every major brand is plagued with automatic transmission issues and failures, this is why you will never convince me that an auto is better than a good old fashioned manual. ive never heard of any manufacturer having premature failures with a manual transmission.
I will never buy a Chrysler again. My transmission had been rebuilt twice in 1 year. Their cars are garbage. aslo, their service is bad and only good when they are selling. their service people are bossy and likes to argue
Chummy Chime Most American brands are absolute garbage in terms of reliability and build quality... my dad had more issues with his Chevrolet Malibu than with his Lexus ES350 and Volkswagen Passat TDI he bought after the Malibu, COMBINED.
damn I've been reading many comments from people saying the same thing as you. Never been a fan of Dodge, always thought their cars were garbage. You couldn't give me a Dodge car for free.
sdry not a shock at all Japanese cars have outstanding reliability due to the advanced engineering. American cars (besides Chevy Ls engines) are terribly designed.
sdry The rankings are based on specific complaints, not all round reliability, are all of you people that stupid not to figure out how these rankings work? The GMs were low on this list due to problems with their new transmissions that they recently released, that's a normal problem with newly designed things. And they are there on that list because if that, not because everything on it failed or broke
American cars suck to a lot of people because they look at a Dodge Dart, Ford Focus, or a Chevy Cruze over a Honda Civic or a corrolla. If you want an American car you have to go with the big V8 engines instead of the small 4 or 6 cylinder engines since almost all American cars suck at.
I guess it is reliable for the drivers, they know what they are getting into when they purchase a European luxury car, and audi was above that expectation
Where can I see a year to year listing of brand reliability? It's good to see Lexus & Toyota at the top, but I'm looking for a car in the 2005-2008 range.
+Keegan Bradshaw Look at tradeinqualityindex.com for data on powertrain problems based on 800,000 US tradeins up to the 2010 model year. Use the search feature to look for a model and you will get a chart showing problem rates for each model year. Also see truedelta.com for reliability data based on owner surveys, including newer years. In tradein quality, Lexus and Toyota are definitely the best, but Subaru, Mazda, VW, Audi do not score well, despite what CR says. On the other hand, GMC and Chevrolet do pretty well at least with some models.
+Keegan Bradshaw There are several lists out there for most reliable cars under $10K. That would cover the 2005-2008. Toyota's 2AZ-FE 4 cylinder had issues with rear head bolts stripping and blown head gaskets in the early 2000s. The same motor also has oil consumption issues but Toyota seems to be making good on those by offering to do a test and if it meets the criteria they will do a rebuild.
+Gary Parks Only 2000 to 2002. I owed a 2000 Celica GT. I did not start having problems till 260,000 miles ( massive oil consumption). Nothing else went wrong with that car. It looked like new at 300,000 miles. Still had the original belts and hoses. Replaced the clutch at 250,000 miles, the front brakes and spark pugs at 100,000 miles (they both were still good). Sold it with 300,000 miles on it in 2012. It sold in one day. The mechanic that purchased it drove it for another year before putting in a 2003 engine. Its still running today.
+Keegan Bradshaw Honda Civic, aside from the ECM made in Thailand, mine started going at 60k had it changed at 100k miles, the circuit board coating was crap, the chips lifted and it lost power making slow right hand turns and on the freeway at 60mph. Nearly got rear ended by a semi coasting to the side of the road. Manifold was cheap metal and catalytic convertor was part of it, so that was another $700 to replace. Other than that, the 02 Civic you couldn't even tell the car was running it was so quiet and smooth. Dealer always used Mobile 1 Semi Synthetic motor oil, not like my new 2012 Focus, crap Motorcraft oil and battery. My FIRST new car in my life and Ford has me at the shop twice a year for recalls since I've owned the damn thing, the rest they just pretend they can't find an issue with shaking drivers seat every 4 seconds when you're sitting in it, but there are 2 TSB's about it now. MPG has gone down bad in the last year and it only has 10,000 miles on it. I'm waiting for someone to say Ford will pay us money back like Kia did when their cars were not getting the MPG they claimed, customers were being refunded up to $2,000 after buying them.
Dual Clutch, CVT, 9 speed auto, paddle shift...? Give me a 5 speed manual and I'm happy. I have 200k+ miles on my 03 Civic EX and it still running without any problems.
u don't buy a new cibic to go fast tho it ain't their fault. Get u a hatch with VTEC , good shocks and stickies. Even with the standard 90 HP d15 still had a bit of fun with mine. insurance is only $60 a month so it's not a bad idea.
I have the 2014 Accord and I LOVE the CVT . I can accelerate fast without having to feel all the gear changes. Sometimes if I'm going slow...like stop go traffic the transmission can SOMETIMES be a little jumpy/jerky...other than that I love using the CVT and I wish other vehicles had it. I rented the 2016 Audi a6 for a week and i hated having to feel all the gear changes when accelerating. What do you hate about it?
You won't like it on a HOT day and it overheats and the car go's into "limp mode" and 40mph is your top speed. (my 2012 ALTIMA did this with only 40,000 miles) CVT's are FRAGILE and can't take heat. If you do a lot of mountain driving or drive when the temps are over say 90 degrees don't buy one!
Motor City Man Thats funny lol Cause I've had my 14 Accord for 2 years. I live in Miami and I drive A LOT. Never, not once have I had an issue. If i was looking for reviews or in the process of shopping for a car I wouldn't purchase a car with CVT just because of your comment and its crazy because what you've said is simply not true. I'm a driver, I drive a lot and I drive fast. I purchased my car 2 years ago at 7k miles. In 2 years I now have 55k miles. (just so you can get an idea of how much I drive) No issues here...and I love being able to take off without feelings all the gear changes. Guess your experiences were different than mine. Wouldn't trade my baby for anything.
+Antonio Talarico They pretend to be American while they accept money from European car makers. So when they lie through their teeth Americans will assume that they are speaking for the good of the American consumer. They increased VW and Audi in ranking even though the company is proven as a cheat. What would you expect?
I have a 2013 Mazda cx-5 with over a hundred thousand miles. The only service I put in her is just the regular service. Nothing major at all extremely extremely reliable
i see, i test drove a 2013 and there was rust spots. that's why i asked. not sure if a new one is worth it. thanks for letting me know about the pressure rinsing though.
FTR, My '12 Mazda 3 has 240,000km's and it's only been oil/oil filter changes, tire changes and recently its first brake job. Except when merging on the highway or weekend fun drives, I'm pretty easy on it.
Not for the long run, ok if your only leasing for a few years. If your buying and want a reliable car for hundreds of thousands of klms that's not going to cost you a small fortune to keep up than Toyota is forsure the etter way to go. I just hate seeing people waste their money.
It's such a shame for Ford...I had a 14 Fusion as a rental with only 22k miles and wanted to like it so much but the transmission really let it down. Specifically, the 2 to 3 shift where it felt like someone was shifting gears without using the clutch. I can't imagine that transmission making it to 100k
***** Because people assume the 6 speed auto is a NORMAL AUTO, the Focus cars do not use a "normal" Automatic. It's a Dual Clutch with a Computer doing all the shifting but no GEAR shift inside the car. Fusions also have the same problems the cars MPG sucks as it gets older, and mines only at 10k, I dropped from 31.5 average last year to 28.9 this year and most of my driving has been city for the last 2 years.
***** Watched Bitchin Rides, the guy had a 69 Mustang and had the tranny rebuilt years back. It only lasted 600 miles before the clutch discs were being burned. They took it out and put in "performance" parts, which I take means, real forged steel not that fake crap from China or Mexico. One guy said the problem is besides plastic fuel tanks, using pot metal instead of forged steel.
My friend bought a brand new Ford fusion in 2012. The paint "fell off "the bottom of all the doors . Within 5 years there was a rust hole next to the licence plate .As Ford had a 7 year perforation warranty he asked they fix it . Ford declined . He will never buy a Ford again . He traded it in and bought a Kia.
tacuazinful The best selling car of all time, the most reliable mid ranged sedan and most sold sedan of all time, and the best small SUV on the market for a decade. Is what I see when you say Corolla, Camry and Rav4 :)
I have a tundra and solara. Solara great car, 12 years old, not once in the shop. Tundra, not as good. Four years old and in the shop for 2 major issues. Once for the common air injection pump issue. Second, for rust through on the box. All covered under warranty.
follow simple instructions. do oil change regularly. dont drive too wild. avoid hitting potholes. warm up in winter time. modern cars are made to last more than 20 years.
actually given the way the LS is built probably not. sure its missing some modernish components but they didnt skimp on the frame due to costs. old volvos were hella safer than a lot of cars made till the mid to late 2000s when they finally started increased the crash standards.
Chugiak Man Dude, who buys Volo these days. Honda average sales in US is 400,000 a year. Volvo? barely 10,000. Number speaks everything. Volvo is not a reliable automobile.
Besides belts, brakes, battery, starter and alternator which go bad on every car before 200k miles...Had 2006 Ford mustang only thing went out was thermostat housing cracked at 140k miles, took me 1 hour to fix. 2008 Es350 Lexus was bad water pump at 120k which caused car to slow down costs 500 to 700 to fix. But worse was 2003 Chevy Blazer wheel axle cracked, gas gauge bounced around, doors hinges broke making doors sag.. a real POS, ALL BEFORE 50K miles! I love vettes and camaro but my old Chevy ruined the brand for me. I'm sure I'll get hate from Chevy Fanboys. 😤
Many Lexus ls430's over 200,000 miles on original starter and alternator. Water pumps are usually changed not because of failure but because of the saved labor cost when changing the timing belt.
Tampatec Ikr, all I ever hear is chevy is best, ford sucks so on and so forth. I have owned about 12 or so chevy cars, vans and trucks ranging from 1978 to 2015 and all of them where one problem after another. I currently have an 02 ford pickup as well that I purchased new and it's still rock solid and reliable as ever.
+Alexandre Potvin My 2014 Honda Accord Sport the CVT kept acting up, almost got me in 4 wrecks, I took it to Honda, they kept my car for 4 days nothing was found, yeah right. They gave me a Toyota Corolla as the loaner which also has a CVT and I drove the hell out of the Corolla to see if it acted the same as my Honda, it didn't. The Corolla was superior, I called Honda in California and I told them that Toyota technology was better than theirs, she didn't like that, I got rid of the car at 6000 miles and I took a big loss, got a Scion TC, no problems so far at almost 20 thousand miles
Honda auto transmissions have been iffy for a couple or more decades. They're either great or junk that only lasts 100k miles. Depends on model of car. Their CVTs are crap. So you either spend more and luck out on a reliable boring model or end up with a boring, unreliable car that was overpriced.
Patrick Murphy I'm from the USA and we just make shitty stuff. People complain about stuff being made overseas but it's better quality then what we make here lol.
JDM Fanboy I'm not from the US and I have no reason to be biast. And America does not make bad vehicles. Some of the most reliable bulletproof vehicles I've ever owned or experienced were all either American or Japanese vehicles. For example my jeep is 13 years old now, 200k+ miles on it, never spent one dime repairing it. While for example, we also had a VW golf that stood broken more than it was moving
I'm glad people's incompetence on how to use a radio is considered a reliability issue. Sure CUE isn't the best infotainment system but I have absolutely no problems with the one in my CTS-V, especially when I'm using Android auto. I bet a lot of these issues are more of people not liking how something functions rather than something not functioning properly.
Aamir Contractor Thanks. It was one of my dream cars and I traded in my modes M5 and had the bank cut the check for remainder. I was hesitant but I got a nice bonus from work and had tons in savings and my wife, who is the financial professional, said I could get so I did. I'm not really big into spending a lot on myself knowing that I could have used the money to help others but I knew that it was something I'd keep for years. Besides my son wanted me to get it because it sounded awesome.
I own a Lexus now & I refuse to buy anything else.I once owned a Ford Explorer & that POS caused me so much heartache & grief.Every time I saw that Ford in my driveway I got so upset.I finally got rid of it & got a Lexus & never looked back.Im on my second Lexus & loving every moment of it :)
wholeNwon I've had friends with used Mercedes bmws and Cadillacs and they all had major problems, my best friend even took notice of my old GS never giving me problems that he bought an IS and now is sold on the brand
I have been driving for many years, and have owned vehicles from many different manufacturers. Over the last 40 years, I have seen what we define as "reliability" and "build quality" improve significantly in general across all brands..I remember back in the mid 70s cars stalling out at stop lights was a common occurrence lol! Nowadays, that rarely if ever happens. The golden rule is: Refuse to abuse..... If you maintain and take care of your car...no matter WHO made it... it WILL take care of you.
Wow! What a shame i was considering a new truck and it was between the Colorado and the the Tacoma , I really wanted that new diesel but i rather stick to reliability then risk a major investment. Come on chevy get your act together and make good reliable product
+Hugo Andrade Wait one year and check reliability. GM makes many many cars that will go 200,000 miles with few problems. The diesel Colorado may be one of them. The Tacoma is almost indestructible and the only True off road Toyota.
+DJR5280 the past generation colorado and canyon were junk and discontinued, how do you know these new twins will be any better long term, after all they've only been around for a year and have already had several recalls
+Slimecrazy234 Audis are always shit. Can you imagine a car company making a recall and only the 1/20th of the cars recalled are customer cars. What about the rest? You don't recall the cars on the factory, as well as the ones on the dealer lots. They register cars on their own company and when there is a reliability survey they give feed back about their own products. LOL! They are the scam artists. LOL! “Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.” (Auto Blog)
mziwenduku ntsele Absolute nonsense. You clearly have never owned an Audi. As stated in the previous comments, don't buy German unless under warranty. My mum bought an Audi a1 and the first problems started to show... After barely 1k Km!!!! We're now only at 5k Km but we had to change the sreen twice now, we could not get the Bluetooth system to work so we had it removed, and the front lights failed. The turbo is also already showing signs of weakening so we'll probably have to get it fixed soon enough. That's pretty shocking considering how much you pay for these cars. Are people just delusional and just refuse to admit that they made a bad investment?
I'm sorry your mother's had it tough with her A1! But I actually own an A3 sedan & my family has had many of this revered bran's cars since 1984! Couldn't be happier with them. I recommend Audi's highly.........
Im not too surprised by the rankings except for Jeep. Im on my 4th Jeep and have pounded on all of them offroad without any problems. My Ram has 378000kms and drives great!! At the end of the day its all about maintenance!!
I'm confused where people have issues with Honda...I've owned 3 and have had no major problems! even if a problem does occur. it runs for years like nothing is wrong and not unsafe. Honda will always be my go to. Best automotive company in my opinion in terms of reliability, fun to drive, New styling, the company has that race car inspiration, love the way Honda cares about what's customers wants especially with all the new Hondas coming out. they've listened and delivered, and they are the company of dreaming different in a business world...they go after something and take risks. I have high respect for that! lastly. always buy a manual accord or civic...thousand times more fun to drive anyway and then you don't have a cvt which for the most part people are probably complaining about because they don't like CVT transmissions because they are different. I also love Chevy trucks. very reliable! only brand for America I will buy is a Chevy/gmc truck!
but what is a CR Z? come on. take a look at the reports for honda and its stars like accord, civic, cr v... they are cars that you get bored to drive because they wont die. It do NOT mean that 1 out of 10 cars couldnt possibly go wrong.
Nick Larson Honda's are still great reliable cars they just took a hit in reliability because this is there first generation CVT transmission and it's been having lagging issues. Acura's dual clutch transmission has been a bit problem-matic as well one I experienced myself. Give these manufacturers time to come out with their second generation transmissions and they should be back on top. I know those people are complaining about Acura's 2 screen system which they should because it's a little overkill and you do the most of the samething on both screen. it's like why is the second screen there I don't even use it. but that's not a reliability issue tho.
I own a 2014 Honda Civic with the CVT transmission and so far everything is fine with no issues it had one recall for software update for the transmission but I haven't had one problem with it.
Nick Larson Good for you glad your not having problems with you CVT transmission. I know 2 people who had and has problem with their CVT Honda transmission but my neighbor had had no issues and she had her car longer. I guess it all depends. Still with that being said I still trust honda
Nick Larson as far as my experiences go, Everytime a new Gen of Civic/Accord/TL come out they always tend to have problematic transmission issues until they finally fix it a couple of years later. Definitely why I waited a year and watched forums and reviews on the new Civic before I bought mine. Everything has been fine besides a Smart Entry glitch (that resetting the aftermarket alarm fixed). I can't recall how far back but Honda definitely needs to stop being cheap with the paint. Their paint jobs are WAY too thin...
I owned 2 Honda Accord last for 10 years now, all I did oil changed and regular maintenance run for ever. Still run like brand new engine, I have no problem with Honda car. I highly recommended buy Honda, that is my opinion.
What about Mitsubishi? No mention of them on the video so how about owners..... what's your opinion on the reliability of the Mitsubishi brand? I recently purchased a 2015 RVR Limited AWC here in Canada but it's still too soon for me to judge it on reliability.
This years model is a great car. not sure if the US gets the full trim GT model, if not, I'd go the BRZ for the newer gearing and changes to the engine. Makes the car much more drivable.
Yeah.... they use to be one of the most reliable. To this day, i still own a 2006 nissan sentra with over 150k miles AND HAVE NEVER ONCE HAD A PROBLEM. Goes to show the reliability of cvt's....
My 2008 Nissan had a recall due to overheated transmissions. When my transmission finally blew, I took it to Nissan to get a replacement (their warranty bc of the recall would cover it) but they refuse to do it. I've been trying for a month now. They don't honor their word!
I lost hope in Toyota when my friend blew a head gasket on his 01 Tacoma 2.7 prerunner from just flirting it, don't get me wrong it was super easy to replace the head gasket, but my wife's 06 325i has 201k miles and I beat the living crap out of it all weekend and we don't have no issues at all.
I am experiencing odd issues with my new 2017 Honda Ridgeline. The emission system problem has come on twice already, the A/C has been acting strangely after a trip up the mountains, and now a major recall to replace some wiring harness which involve removing the bed of the truck to replace. The dealership does not believe that the AC is having an issue and arguing with me.
Audi is a number 3? Haha what a crock of shit, those cars are pure Junk, i owned 2, the most worst and problematic cars ever built. Sure they are safe and provide some luxury and comfort but mechanically wise they are money pits, Mercedes and Bmw are far more reliable! A. another U. useless D. dutch I. invention
Why does the world's most powerful country(USA) continue to be ranked last or near the bottom of the list!? We have the biggest most expensive military, the best reality show ratings, the best sports(subjective),but fail to build better vehicles. What gives? & they're getting more expensive! Someone please tell me why??
I love Toyotas! We've had our 1999 Toyota Sienna for more than 17 years and has 249k miles. No major problems(knock on wood). Uses regular oil and fuel.
really don't understand how Toyota can be considered top of reliability, millions of recalls in the last five years. Starting to lose confidence in Consumer Reports.
gary i agree with you bro how can toyota be on top where in most toyotadealership i know and work we have engine problem ,electrical issues oil consumption everywhere and cvt transmission all CVT are junk thats the Fact hard to accept right
My black 2007 Dodge 1500 Laramine with 368k miles is still going. It's a work truck that hauls 4 horses, along with aiding in other farm-related work. Currently it's sitting out at the farm, but in a couple weeks I will be taking it on a cross country tour with my rodeo horses. My first stop is in Auburn, Alabama.
Honda recently redid their transmissions, so this fall is not surprising. Same thing happened in the early 2000s when they went to a five speed transmission. Buick's rise is also not a surprise. GM has been investing heavily in six sigma quality to improve it. It has to extend to other divisions, but CU is accurate about what is going on.
+DaddyIvo Of course not. Why? Because the average car buyer is too stupid to care. So they buy based on the color, number of body panel creases, how "aggressive" it looks, etc. Then they watch their wallets being emptied by the repair people. "Stupid is as stupid does."
Too, not "to". Yes, reliability issues often concern electronics but also major mechanical components for some brands. Have most brands gotten "better"? Sure. Does that make them "good". Well, it depends on how much the buyer is willing to put up with in depreciation and inconvenience. I prefer to go with the highest levels of major component reliability and lowest depreciation.
I have 2016 Corolla S Premium, fully loaded with sunroof, navigation, etc. It currently has over 50,000 miles and not a single problem. My mom has a 2016 Dodge. Already she has had engine light on, interior trims falling off and electric problems. She regrets buying it and says her next vehicle will be a Toyota. I'm a Toyota fan for life.
wanna strong Truck that doesn't break Down ? just buy ur self a TOYOTA 70 SERIES Just like the one's isis use , this things will never and I repeat NEVER break down untill u hit one million Miles :))
Anyone who owns a pickup of any brand isn't concerned with comfy and luxury. And I think Toyota makes the ugliest trucks on a steady basis. But I want the damn thing to go and get me back again without calling a wrecker.
if you get a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep (Fiat) lease it and if you buy one just make sure to get the longest warranty possible and get rid of it before the warranty runs out
guy proulx was going for Ford Focus hybrid but people talk crap about Ford reliablilty. I love how the dart looks but the milage is not very economical in a city
guy proulx how does leasing work, you have option to buy car or upgrade? I need my sister as co signer and leaning towards using it to drive for lyft and uber, they said I would need to go to credit union myself since that's commercial use of vehicle
Anthony not sure in the U.S but it must be similar to Canada, a lease is cheaper but you are limited on mileage per year, some leases can be 2, 3, 4 years for example, after your lease is up you can buy the vehicle if you want or just upgrade but keep in mind that if you decide to buy it after the lease is up it will have cost you more than if you would have just bought on day 1, i don't know anything about uber and needing a commercial license but i imagine you would need one, personally i would not buy a domestic brand, in my experience Toyota's are much more reliable and yearly reliability ratings always put Toyota and Lexus at the top of the list, if you are going to be using it as a uber vehicle then you should not lease because you are limited on mileage and when your lease is up you have to pay extra for every extra mile you went over
Top 10 reliable brands in 2019 (imo) Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Kia, Mazda, Hyundai, Acura, Nissan, Buick Top 10 least reliable brands in 2019 (most to least problematic) BMW, Fiat/Chrysler, Porsche, Audi, Chevy, Jeep, Benz, Dodge, VW, Ford I'm not a technician but I think this is pretty accurate but again just my opinion
Tell you, I live in europe and volvo is almost invisible when comes to marketing, while Kia and Hyunday are almost in every sport related event here in europe.... people ends up buying the goods that are more often visible. and the other person said already, the old volves were like tanks (famous for thausends of miles and miles, problem free) while the new ones are a hit or a miss and, not cheap to main.
Mcgyver don't Save a hoe oh absolutely I work as a Toyota technician however we have a Volvo dealer attached to us as well so I see all the new models come in. The reason why I say Volvo now a days is a hit or a miss is because we had a couple s60's come in that need new turbos, new exhaust manifolds, new axle sleeves and even new engines(cracked cylinder walls) after less than 30K miles its a huge disappointment since Volvo was much better than that
Honda/Acura are very reliable vehicles. I don’t understand the hate towards them. They are all I’ve owned and everyone that I know owns them have not had any issues with none of the models. Honda/Acura 💯
I own the 2014 impala 2ltz new body design with 45,600 miles. When this car first came out it got a score of 95 out of 100 , so far this car has had no warranty repairs, not a one. This is by far the most and best reliable car I have ever own. All of these car experts talk out of there asses, when this car first came out this car was getting high praises. To me, some of these so call experts still have there heads up the foreign car tail pipes.
+HappyListener50 Same with my old 2012 Camry, best reliable car that I had. Not even a single complaint I experienced. Thanks to Toyota, they still make reliable cars even after years. All of their cars are reliable. I'm happy, they make best cars that doesn't need to go onto a mechanic.
So they rate a radio not working the same as the transmission dying??
😂😂😂
He never said that.
D Jay T'My 9 speed transmission shifts 4 times before I get to 35 mph'.' It is broken or acting weird'. OOp, another defect reported...
I'm not sure how Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep are still in business.
me either
Lol
Dodge is still in business because of the the charger and challenger. Jeep is still in business because they make amazing off road capable cars. Chrysler I have no idea.
Nicholas Molina they are still in business thanks to our billions of hard earned tax dollars
+guy proulx why because of that?
1998 Camry with 290,000 miles still going strong!
+Lowell Dizon The 80 and 90 models last longer, today's stuff, not so much.
+Lowell Dizon That's the bottom line.
+Lowell Dizon 1998 that's what, 17 years old. I have a Ford truck from 1982 still runs fine, when I run it. Subaru wagon takes the brunt of my daily driving though. I put shitload of miles on that car every month. No issues ever.
+Lowell Dizon That's great. But here's the thing: Your experience isn't unique!
+TekReview's I guess I've been lucky with my other Toyotas. 2007 Corolla with110K miles is bullet-proof! 2010 Highlander with 70K miles that had a water pump replaced last year, otherwise a great car!
If only Toyota made exciting vehicles
+gip1279 I have to agree. The FRS is about it for excitement. For it they teamed up with Subaru.
that's why they are very reliable.
86, lfa, isf, rcf? New supra coming out, Not exciting enough?
I agree if they do. But you can look at scion.
Toyota is bringing back the supra
Mechanics love domestic cars. They are putting their kids through college.
pete zandt i swear, a local oriental at Midas said, " i love American cars" lol
Savage 😂😂😂
@@LuisMarquez-mt1lb hahaha, funny part is it probably left the Midas in better condition than it was from the factory. Cheers mang.
Audi number 3?? Hahahaha what absolute nonsense. So many people have transmission and engine problems after just one year
yes its incredulous that Audi is even in top 10.
+Alexander11080 That's like saying the Prius has the most powerful engine of any car in the world
+Andrew Yang lol. Some people just are suckers for luxury brands.
In all honesty, was anyone surprised that Toyota/Lexus got the top two? I certainly wasn't.
people should start giving Mazda a shot they are great and very reliable just as Toyotas
Honestly... When purchasing my first car I went to a Honda dealership. The company owns a Mazda dealership literally across the street. I was in love with the exterior appearance but... Mazdas have such a bad rep I didn't buy it. I'm shocked it did better than Honda according to this video.
Rashonda Yanic
Mazdas are great... I'm not just saying that because I love the looks / design etc....
I'am saying that from my experience with their car
My 1997 Mazda 323f is still fully functional and in excellent condition.. This car never dies that's for sure xD
We have our 2014 Mazda cx9 and it's a lovely vehicle along with a 2009 Toyota fortuner
CJ Colvin I agree on that old cars intend to last longer than the new ones as I said above that 97 Mazda 323 neverdies lol
AUDI third PLACE???!!!!!!! DA FUCK????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what about the oil consumpition on their A4,A3, A5, A6 and Q5????
American technology is 10 years bihind Japanese
more like 20...
Nah, it's mostly just that American control/build quality is shit
omnipotentum clearly you've never driven quality Japanese brands like Mazda or Lexus. Mazda is like BMW but MUCH more reliable. Lexus is like Mercedes but MUCH more reliable.
How much money do you wanna bet on that?
Jacek Turkiewicz actually, japanese are known to use less technology than the rest of the set. Thats the secret to their reliability. True fact
Way to go Mazda
'96 had problems with trans, fuel pump, and brake wiring.
chrysler makes a solid P.O.S what else is new lol
I also had a domestic car filled with problems. My Dodge neon at 80k was filled with electrical problems, after dropping $3000 on it didn't even make it to the 100k miles mark before it died on me.
Sadly when it comes to cars, Made in USA is as bad as it gets.
that's true my 04 ram has had no problems since my dad bought it new. It's how the owner takes care of it.
Really?? Let's not worry about a navigation system. Stick to the mechanical problems....
not surprisingly, my wife's 2015 honda fit has been an absolute dream. the cvt is probably the only one I've ever experienced that doesn't make me feel like someone hooked one of those late 90s "as seen on tv" automatic bicycle shifters to the car.
+jason fifi Excellent car. It may be the best all around car Honda makes.
fatboy19831 yeah dude, it's awesome. The amount of usable space is insane, with the back seats folded down it's like a fucking house.
+jason fifi a 2015 car with no issues? Is that rare? It isn't even a year old yet!
+jason fifi How well do they crash now? IIHS only !
Lol. I'm driving a 1994 ES300 with 260,000+ miles. And it's still running fast. :D
That's not fair my Toyota Camry 2009 has so much brake and battery problems
+Coffa Boom ....and I'll bet the paint is still as gorgeous as the day you bought it. Inside and out Toyota and Lexus, especially Japanese manufactured ones, are far and away the best vehicles on earth.
we dont know if they will ALWAYS stay this way. sure thing is that they are now king of kings in reliability, and smoothness. also lexus LS is the quietest most acoustically tight car in the world. Gs 350 is famous for being a Giant killer as it outperforms E350 and 535i. camry v6 is faster than a v6 CAMARO.
so yeah
also Subaru
I love my 2015 Toyota 4runner limited! It's nice to know I'm not the only one! lol
+808aaq Very reliable SUV but don't even try to follow the very unreliable Jeep Wrangler off road. Or even in deep snow.
F' my Ford Focus. Too bad for their brand loyalty: Ford, my last and only.
yeah my lease on my Focus is up soon and thinking about a Hyundai.
+Wildman couldn't be further from the truth. Ford makes great trucks. Cars and crossovers ? Not so much.
***** Exactly, man. You and I with a brain.
Wildman You do need a reality check....idiot.
+Cirenio Pizano Should've gotten a manual transmission. :)
+Wildman is this irony?
Audi & Kia? BS? Well it's only for the year of 2016 but not a long term 5+ year review.
I wonder how much money they got for that spotlight lie. Right? Car drivers know which brands are good and which are not.
But wait, people keep saying Kia is crap? I mean, all we can do is keep repeating what we thought we knew from 10 years ago without ever doing more research - nevermind Kia is hardly the same company now that it was then. I've owned a few Kias and they've been great.
+Mozzie I"ve read other sources on reliability and recent Kias are reliable.
Nissans are like American cars in Japan... It's kinda funny.
+Doug N I hope you know that the Nissan pickups were almost 100% American made...
Same with the F150 I owned.
Kevin Smith
Warranty does not work that way as far as I know.
damn I've been reading many comments from people saying the same thing as you. Never been a fan of Dodge, always thought their cars were garbage. You couldn't give me a Dodge car for free.
Chummy Chime havnt had such issues with my charger but service people are horrible at chrysler dealership.
american cars dominating the bottom rankings? What a shocker.
sdry not a shock at all Japanese cars have outstanding reliability due to the advanced engineering.
David Klimmek Ford fucking sucks lol. Ford focus St is Meh
Gary Sanchez you are absolutely right
When he said Tesla below average my heart felt warm and I felt happy and satisfied
audi?! Reliable???
I guess it is reliable for the drivers, they know what they are getting into when they purchase a European luxury car, and audi was above that expectation
Stay away from these. It will cost you a small fortune to keep up and not reliable.
Daughter had one.....junk junk junk !!!!!
Think of all those poor people who shelled out extra money over other brands and still ended up with that junk.
Dual Clutch, CVT, 9 speed auto, paddle shift...? Give me a 5 speed manual and I'm happy. I have 200k+ miles on my 03 Civic EX and it still running without any problems.
Audi reliable? hundreds of DSG gearbox broken and no warranty... CR is bullshit
I find most people don't know how to drive a DCT... They abuse it, it breaks, and then they cry bs. Fuck that.
Bruno Danese Cuz fuck logic in your statement, right? LOL
Jkrui A DCT and a traditional Auto work differently you fucking moron. But you can kill them both with lack of maintenance :)
Bruno Danese Is that it? You resorted to insults that quickly? Fucking loser ahaha
Bruno Danese Bruh
I hate having a CVT on my Honda Civic. Other than that, I've had no problem with it. I miss the 5 speed automatic they had on the prior 2013 Model.
u don't buy a new cibic to go fast tho it ain't their fault. Get u a hatch with VTEC , good shocks and stickies. Even with the standard 90 HP d15 still had a bit of fun with mine. insurance is only $60 a month so it's not a bad idea.
No problem YET.
(my 2012 ALTIMA did this with only 40,000 miles)
CVT's are FRAGILE and can't take heat.
Why dont ppl at consumer report shave?
***** haha
Cause the razors that they wanna use to shave with got a bad rating. LoL
+Shuffle3956 What's a "syndrom"?
+deno spyridon haha good one..
+Antonio Talarico They pretend to be American while they accept money from European car makers. So when they lie through their teeth Americans will assume that they are speaking for the good of the American consumer. They increased VW and Audi in ranking even though the company is proven as a cheat. What would you expect?
is the cx 5 reliable?
I have a 2013 Mazda cx-5 with over a hundred thousand miles. The only service I put in her is just the regular service. Nothing major at all extremely extremely reliable
Joshue Alvarez how about rust?
i see, i test drove a 2013 and there was rust spots. that's why i asked. not sure if a new one is worth it. thanks for letting me know about the pressure rinsing though.
I own 3 Hondas with a CVT a 2013 Accord EXL, CR-V Touring & a 2016 Accord EX-L and have NEVER had a problem with the CVT.
+Dan Jones CVT won't be a problem if you don't regularly push them.
+This Guy and why would you push them? CVTs are placed so that you get better fuel economy not race every dang car in the street
Why wouldn't you?
Cars are tools, use them to their fullest capability.
LOL if you wanna do that, get a sportier car, not a Honda. they are meant for long commutes and good gas milleage. not to be "PUSHED".
Wow you guys even talk about common flaws. I life it. Finally someone I can trust when it comes to cars.
This video is absolutely misleading. Kia and Mazda above Honda on reability? Cmon! Also, when did audi get to be reliable?
this is fucking joke honda is the best car
That feeling when you watch this bored, and bought a Lexus 2 weeks ago 😅 yay!!!
You won't regret that decision
corolla?? camry?? RAv4??? which toyota do you own?? how many miles you have on it??
tacuazinful The best selling car of all time, the most reliable mid ranged sedan and most sold sedan of all time, and the best small SUV on the market for a decade.
Nat M why are all the reliable cars lame? except for subarus and audis
follow simple instructions. do oil change regularly. dont drive too wild. avoid hitting potholes. warm up in winter time. modern cars are made to last more than 20 years.
The longest mileage driven cars are: Honda Accord, average 200,000 miles, CR, you guys are wrong, AGAIN.
Says who? '96 Lexus LS400...1 million miles.
This is about reliability, not durability.
actually given the way the LS is built probably not. sure its missing some modernish components but they didnt skimp on the frame due to costs. old volvos were hella safer than a lot of cars made till the mid to late 2000s when they finally started increased the crash standards.
Eric Lee.. honda v6 suck nothing but problems
Chugiak Man Dude, who buys Volo these days. Honda average sales in US is 400,000 a year. Volvo? barely 10,000. Number speaks everything. Volvo is not a reliable automobile.
Kia is surprising a lot of people, they have really progressed well in the last 5 years
Besides belts, brakes, battery, starter and alternator which go bad on every car before 200k miles...Had 2006 Ford mustang only thing went out was thermostat housing cracked at 140k miles, took me 1 hour to fix.
Tampatec you're right about blazer's door hinges😂
Same happened to mine lol and the transmission was shit
Tampatec Ikr, all I ever hear is chevy is best, ford sucks so on and so forth. I have owned about 12 or so chevy cars, vans and trucks ranging from 1978 to 2015 and all of them where one problem after another. I currently have an 02 ford pickup as well that I purchased new and it's still rock solid and reliable as ever.
Oh God, what's wrong with Honda's new CVT now? Glad I went Toyota.
***** hur dur I got a new Scion hur dur
I chose it over the Mazda 3 too. -_-
We also have a 2014 Civic, hence my concern.
+George Juarez If it caused safety problems, you should be reporting to the NHTSA not just posting here!
Honda auto transmissions have been iffy for a couple or more decades. They're either great or junk that only lasts 100k miles. Depends on model of car. Their CVTs are crap. So you either spend more and luck out on a reliable boring model or end up with a boring, unreliable car that was overpriced.
I'm thinking about Lexus or BMW? Base on this video, lexus maybe the way to go
Art Sal Lexus never feels like a luxury car when it comes to driving, I've been driving BMW for 8 years, still the best
japanwatchconnection bmw's are pieces of shit lol😂
you talk crap
Just brought my first Subaru XV Hybrid and I"m very happy with it.
I just wonder why most of US manufactures are ranked very low? Are we not paying more attention to details or just what?
Patrick Murphy I'm from the USA and we just make shitty stuff. People complain about stuff being made overseas but it's better quality then what we make here lol.
JDM Fanboy I'm not from the US and I have no reason to be biast. And America does not make bad vehicles. Some of the most reliable bulletproof vehicles I've ever owned or experienced were all either American or Japanese vehicles. For example my jeep is 13 years old now, 200k+ miles on it, never spent one dime repairing it. While for example, we also had a VW golf that stood broken more than it was moving
Dean Grimsell bad example. Jeep are not known for realizing. (Speaking in general, yes I know some older jeeps are very reliable.)
the price to pay for shitting on socialism and education. MAGA MAGA.
They use lot of designers and engineers from India. I know 3 Indian guys who work in Detroit ))
Hey I'm planning on purchasing a new Mercedes cls, how reliable would you guys say that car is? Thx
My Mercedes has been horrible. Im getting a lexus.
Dont buy a mercedes unless you rich
good choice
Can I quote you:)
Mine was a pain in the ass too. And the service is terrible. Had mine in for a $6k repair and they didn't even wash it. Smh never again
Scotty Rob nice car
I've had two lexuses and two friends with them and no problems to speak of. They really are well made cars
I've had mine for 18 years and plan NEVER to sell it. I even had a friend go from a Bentley (junk) to a Lexus and loves it.
wholeNwon I've had friends with used Mercedes bmws and Cadillacs and they all had major problems, my best friend even took notice of my old GS never giving me problems that he bought an IS and now is sold on the brand
I have a 1984 Corolla. Original 2A engine, 220,000 miles.
I have an 08 malibu original engine, transmission, alternator with 239,000 miles just replaced the shocks, whats the big deal?
I have been driving for many years, and have owned vehicles from many different manufacturers. Over the last 40 years, I have seen what we define as "reliability" and "build quality" improve significantly in general across all brands..I remember back in the mid 70s cars stalling out at stop lights was a common occurrence lol! Nowadays, that rarely if ever happens. The golden rule is: Refuse to abuse..... If you maintain and take care of your car...no matter WHO made it... it WILL take care of you.
I've owned a lot of cars and Toyota is the most reliable, Now all my cars are Toyota no more headaches
+Hugo Andrade Colorado will be a good truck. Take care of it and it will go for a long time.
+DJR5280 the past generation colorado and canyon were junk and discontinued, how do you know these new twins will be any better long term, after all they've only been around for a year and have already had several recalls
The powertrains they carry have been used in other vehicles around the country and world and the powertrains have done just fine.
this is why I'm getting me a 2017 Mazda 3 in couple months😎
Damn. Rob Riggle really has fallen on hard times.
So good to see Audi getting where they SHOULD be!
+mziwenduku ntsele Their cars are old now and much of the problems ironed out, the new ones coming out will probably return to shit reliability.
+Slimecrazy234
Audis are always shit. Can you imagine a car company making
a recall and only the 1/20th of the cars recalled are customer cars. What about
the rest? You don't recall the cars on the factory, as well as the ones on the
dealer lots. They register cars on their
own company and when there is a reliability survey they give feed back about
their own products. LOL! They are the scam artists. LOL!
“Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from
earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are
powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new
mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle
and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered
in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.” (Auto Blog)
False. Audi stepped up with attractive look but still not reliable. Don't buy German without full coverage warranty
mziwenduku ntsele Absolute nonsense.
I highly recommended buy Honda, that is my opinion.
sooooo i should get an RCF over a corvette :P
MrPl0xygen iffffff you have the money
MrPl0xygen yes it won't break down when u step on the gas
What about Mitsubishi? No mention of them on the video so how about owners..... what's your opinion on the reliability of the Mitsubishi brand? I recently purchased a 2015 RVR Limited AWC here in Canada but it's still too soon for me to judge it on reliability.
my next car will be probably a toyota ( gt86 :)
this comment needs more likes!!!
Dumy Jobby technically a subaru
Dumy Jobby , very smart choice.
This years model is a great car. not sure if the US gets the full trim GT model, if not, I'd go the BRZ for the newer gearing and changes to the engine. Makes the car much more drivable.
***** Your comment is lime you. Dumb and unnecessary
my 2014 Kia soul! Nothing but good TIMES.
How many miles?
Frank Elyar Kia is reliable, with good maintenance it can last 300k miles or more
Had a 06 Kia spot age got rid of it around 80k it had a very small powering steering leak but nothing else was wrong with the car. It drove nice too
In a KIA?
2013 and newer kias are very reliable because the engines and many parts are hyundai.
Sadly Nissan never makes these reliable lists anymore.
Yeah.... they use to be one of the most reliable.
Rhiannon Hamilton That sucks!
I drive a 09 Nissan Cube with the CVT, not a fan of the CVT sounds terrible most of the time. Rather have 5 speed auto.
That's true, new pathfinder have many re calls. Also the sentra and Armada/ Patrol.
I lost hope in Toyota when my friend blew a head gasket on his 01 Tacoma 2.7 prerunner from just flirting it, don't get me wrong it was super easy to replace the head gasket, but my wife's 06 325i has 201k miles and I beat the living crap out of it all weekend and we don't have no issues at all.
lies lies lies Audi haha good one consumer reports
A. another
U. useless
D. dutch
I. invention
Why does the world's most powerful country(USA) continue to be ranked last or near the bottom of the list!? We have the biggest most expensive military, the best reality show ratings, the best sports(subjective),but fail to build better vehicles. What gives? & they're getting more expensive! Someone please tell me why??
Cause here in Mur'ca.....
Russia is also very powerful but there auto industry is....😂
Subaru all the way
+MrOzf Subaru Outback is much driver friendly than Toyota Highlander.
I heard the new wrx is transmission problems.
Except for those head gaskets.
+Mark Allison Head gaskets has been Subarus only kryptonite. I have budgeted $1500 for head gasket replacement on my BRZ. If it happens I am ready.
1500 for head gaskets? I paid 2400 for a 2003 Forrester. Maybe if you did it yourself.
I love Toyotas! We've had our 1999 Toyota Sienna for more than 17 years and has 249k miles. No major problems(knock on wood). Uses regular oil and fuel.
OMG.. The guy has a crazy look by looking up reading the teleprompter. Fail!!
Pistolas Fritas or he has lazy eyes.
Ford F150, 2016, 47k miles, new transmission, engine oil leak, rear diff swapped, driver door air leak, now trans issue again, pissed off.
really don't understand how Toyota can be considered top of reliability, millions of recalls in the last five years. Starting to lose confidence in Consumer Reports.
A recall is not a predictor of reliability.
+Gary Hylton Look around all over the world...Toyotas everywhere from mountains to deserts and LOTS of old ones still running strong.
wholeNwon like I said " in last five years" before then I could have agreed.
There's nothing wrong with recalls.
gary i agree with you bro how can toyota be on top where in most toyotadealership i know and work we have engine problem ,electrical issues oil consumption everywhere and cvt transmission all CVT are junk thats the Fact hard to accept right
My black 2007 Dodge 1500 Laramine with 368k miles is still going. It's a work truck that hauls 4 horses, along with aiding in other farm-related work. Currently it's sitting out at the farm, but in a couple weeks I will be taking it on a cross country tour with my rodeo horses. My first stop is in Auburn, Alabama.
Mazda is the best car brand in my opinion
Based on what? They are known to have weak auto. trans. But their manuals are OK.
first time I hear that. and they have best value. decent interior and high tech
I said (In my opinion) so do me a favour and back off mate !
Ross got one recently and loving and. Better than Toyota....
Ross well your opinion is wrong
that is a honest report, thanks for the information.
That's it. Toyota Camry it is...
no wonder
Honda recently redid their transmissions, so this fall is not surprising. Same thing happened in the early 2000s when they went to a five speed transmission. Buick's rise is also not a surprise. GM has been investing heavily in six sigma quality to improve it. It has to extend to other divisions, but CU is accurate about what is going on.
There is no perfect car manufacturer! Every company has problems
A God in training agree. People idolize Toyota but they have had plenty of faults and recalls
The Honda Civic was "the gold standard" for many years. But its competition gets stronger almost every year.
Do American car companies even care about brand-quality? Ugh!!! I love their designs but I just don't trust their reliability.
Good job Consumer Reports. Keep calling their asses out!
Consumer reports is the most bias garbage site ever
I have 2016 Corolla S Premium, fully loaded with sunroof, navigation, etc. It currently has over 50,000 miles and not a single problem. My mom has a 2016 Dodge. Already she has had engine light on, interior trims falling off and electric problems. She regrets buying it and says her next vehicle will be a Toyota. I'm a Toyota fan for life.
wanna strong Truck that doesn't break Down ?
just buy ur self
a TOYOTA 70 SERIES
Just like the one's isis use , this things will never and I repeat NEVER break down untill u hit one million Miles :))
Or an '87 4X4 or 2003 Tundra. My 2012 4X Tundra has been holding up well, but I don't drive as much any more.
pete zandt
The Tundra is Great
But it's a little bit Expensive to Maintain
I was meaning they have been reliable, unlike the fords and gm I have owned.
pete zandt
Yes u have a point
And perhaps more Luxurious and comfy
Anyone who owns a pickup of any brand isn't concerned with comfy and luxury. And I think Toyota makes the ugliest trucks on a steady basis. But I want the damn thing to go and get me back again without calling a wrecker.
Should I get loan myself or lease between the Dodge Dart or something kia for a sedan
if you get a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep (Fiat) lease it and if you buy one just make sure to get the longest warranty possible and get rid of it before the warranty runs out
guy proulx was going for Ford Focus hybrid but people talk crap about Ford reliablilty. I love how the dart looks but the milage is not very economical in a city
guy proulx how does leasing work, you have option to buy car or upgrade? I need my sister as co signer and leaning towards using it to drive for lyft and uber, they said I would need to go to credit union myself since that's commercial use of vehicle
Anthony not sure in the U.S but it must be similar to Canada, a lease is cheaper but you are limited on mileage per year, some leases can be 2, 3, 4 years for example, after your lease is up you can buy the vehicle if you want or just upgrade but keep in mind that if you decide to buy it after the lease is up it will have cost you more than if you would have just bought on day 1, i don't know anything about uber and needing a commercial license but i imagine you would need one, personally i would not buy a domestic brand, in my experience Toyota's are much more reliable and yearly reliability ratings always put Toyota and Lexus at the top of the list, if you are going to be using it as a uber vehicle then you should not lease because you are limited on mileage and when your lease is up you have to pay extra for every extra mile you went over
guy proulx wow ok helpful hints there thank you!
Honda is the best in term of reliability. Period.
Top 10 reliable brands in 2019 (imo)
Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Kia, Mazda, Hyundai, Acura, Nissan, Buick
Top 10 least reliable brands in 2019 (most to least problematic)
BMW, Fiat/Chrysler, Porsche, Audi, Chevy, Jeep, Benz, Dodge, VW, Ford
I'm not a technician but I think this is pretty accurate but again just my opinion
I've owned two TOYOTA CAMRYS, AND THEY BOTH WERE TERRIBLE, I PREFER HONDA, I HAVEN'T HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH IT THUS FAR.
Never Trust a Biased Review or a Biased Reviewer
What about Volvo? Why does poor Volvo always fall through the cracks?
It's made in China!
RtDK old volvos are tanks I've seen some with hundreds of thousands of miles on them but the new ones are a hit or miss
The reason why I say Volvo now a days is a hit or a miss is because we had a couple s60's come in that need new turbos, new exhaust manifolds, new axle sleeves and even new engines(cracked cylinder walls) after less than 30K miles its a huge disappointment since Volvo was much better than that
Carolyn Maxwell they're not made in china, where did you get that from?
Honda/Acura are very reliable vehicles. I don’t understand the hate towards them. They are all I’ve owned and everyone that I know owns them have not had any issues with none of the models. Honda/Acura 💯
So basically Chevy lied when they say their vehicles are the most reliable.
To me, some of these so call experts still have there heads up the foreign car tail pipes.
i will NEVER OWN ANOTHER FORD EVER!!
