I believe Doc Watson did this song, but with less verses. Of course, his picking made up for it. Dave does a good job on it. He should try coming to Merlefest, Wilkesboro, NC.

One of my favorite ballads, Hailing from the Big Sur, though, it's difficult to hear Ventana pronounced as Vedanta.
I believe he says the barranca. Meaning the Creek's wash.
