    Tarikh Episode 320
Tarikh is a daily program in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons of Indian History in Hindi. In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil narrates the story of How an Indian Mathematician Disproved one of the greatest mathematicians of the world, Leonhard Euler. Sharadchandra Shrikhande, along with his mentor R.C. Bose and their collaborator E.T. Parker proved that there did indeed exist orthogonal Latin squares of all orders other than six (and two). Which Euler has said was impossible. Their proof had bridged geometry, combinatorics and statistics
    What was Euler’s conjecture?

Long time ago I bought the book 'GANITI' on Pune railway station. I knew great names in modern mathematics from Napier, Decartes, Pascal, Burnoli, Oyler, La Granz, Gouse etc. I feel, all interested in particular subject should read short informarion of great people in that subject. As student interested in mathematics should know above people or physics should know Newton , Einstein, Rutherford, Max Plank and Thompson etc. First chapter of any subject should start with great people in that subject. Artists should know Michelangelo, Da Vincci Monet, Vincent van Gogh etc.
These are geniuses including our three mathematicians! Well done.👏👍

Very informative. Though I had read about this episode earlier. Certainly mathematical constant e is very dramatic and has many properties like solving the financial problems. . e became the base of natural lograthims. Prediction of the rate of decay of radioactive material. Rate of bacterial activity depending on the amount of organic material left in à sample .
Mathematical constants like e ,pi, phi which are irrational numbers used in nature again and again but remained as conjectures (not solvable). Recently an Israeli mathematician has used this for generation of more conjectures for further development in computer science. He has been awarded Turing award. Final result is the formation of what has been named as conjectures machine and named as Ramanujan machine. Ramanujan has been acclaimed as a greatest genius in the field of numbers.
Can we have a programme dedicated to him in some episode.
    Thanks for your show.

My dear every scientist makes step by step completion of his research project. At the end of his life some of the projects are always incomplete. Many a times the followers complete such projects or the research is taken to next level by some other scientists even after centuries. Don't try to say someone failed and the other one did it.
