The 2025 Volkswagen Taigun is a subcompact crossover SUV that has been in production since 2021. Manufactured in India, it caters to both Indian and Mexican markets. Built on the Volkswagen Group's MQB A0 IN platform, the Taigun shares its foundation with models like the Škoda Kushaq.
Under the hood, the Taigun offers two petrol engine options:
A 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder engine producing 115 PS and 175 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
A 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder engine delivering 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque, available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission.
In terms of dimensions, the Taigun measures 4,221 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width, and 1,612 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,651 mm. These proportions provide a spacious interior while maintaining a compact footprint suitable for urban driving.
Safety is a standout feature of the Taigun. In October 2022, it achieved a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection in Global NCAP's updated crash tests, making it one of the first models in India to do so. Standard safety features include two frontal airbags, i-Size approved ISOFIX anchorages, Electronic Stability Control, and three-point seatbelts for all seats. Higher trim levels offer additional side torso airbags, head-protecting curtains, and a tire pressure monitor.
As of September 2024, Volkswagen announced that the Taigun had surpassed 100,000 units in combined domestic and export sales since its launch, reflecting its popularity and strong market acceptance.
Looking ahead, Volkswagen India plans to introduce a major facelift for the Taigun by late 2025 or early 2026, aiming to keep the model fresh and competitive in the evolving automotive landscape.
