    It's about freaking time! I got my 9 about a month before the 10 came out... then based on previous cycles I was going to wait for the 11 but it's about 4 years past due. I'm finally ordering the AirCurve 11. I can't wait to hear your insights!

    Nice! I would love to get rid of my POS phillips machine and get this one. Insurance will cover it next year. I hope you do some content on ASV's.

      You talk to your insurance company and tell them what is wrong with the machine. Whether it was part of the recall or the dreamstation 2 which can set your face and house on fire. And that Phillips is no longer even allowed to sell in the U.S. if thats where you live.
      That's what I did. I sent the documents about the fire hazard.
      And even though I only had the dreamstation 2 for about a year.
      And wasnt due to receive a new machine. They sent me a resmed.
      On my insurance
      It was approved
      Have you tried to take that approach?

      @@802OutdoorAdventures You are very welcome.
      You have to impress upon them that this thing has the possibility to kill everyone in my house and destroy my home.
      Its a clear fire hazard.
      And have the article that says they can cause fires.
      I mean this is a huge safety issue by a company that has already shown they dont care about safety and will bury data and reports for as long as they can.
      And tell them they can no longer even use or give you this brand in the U.S. anymore.
      I mean why?
      Clearly theres a problem.
      This isnt just a foam issue now.
      Because after foamgate. On the previous models.
      I was sent a dreamstation 2.
      That was supposed to be safer.
      And then firegate became an issue.

    I have the previous model ASV and like it a lot. My sleep specialist doesn't like it because he doesn't understand the settings so can't charge money for doing the settings. I find that on the automatic settings it is very comfortable to use and it is best to leave it on the automatic settings.

    Wait, this a new version of the AirSense 11? Figures, after my order already went in with my insurance to get the AirSense 11. But one question why does the water chamber has that white tab on top? I noticed that with my AirSense 10 and don't get why it's there.

    I have an Airsense 11 and the first one kept giving me a strong blast of air that takes my breath away, as soon as I breathed into the mask. Did that for 10sec and then machine shuts down and won't do anything unless I unplugged it and started over. They finally figured out that it wasn't calibrated correctly, after 3mon of complaining it didn't seem like I was getting enough air. It was supposed to start out at 6.4 but instead was only at 4.5. They sent it to ResMed and 2mon later I got a "new" machine back and on the 3rd night, same thing. I had them test my machine and it appears to be calibrated right this time and pushing the right amount of air. Anyone experience this? I'm worried that this machine is going to klunkout on me too. Very frustrating. They had me on the AirSense 10 model for those 2mon and I finally experienced the pluses of doing sleep therapy, thinking I might go to that machine instead but any help would be appreciated. This journey has been straight up hill with little support from the Respiratory team where I live in Canada.

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  6 місяців тому +1

      I don't think so. The ASV can reach higher pressures compared with autoset/cpap so probably just needs more juice to spin the blower fan faster

    How does ASV differ from APAP?

    • @A.Martin
      @A.Martin 6 місяців тому +5

      It automatically adjusts the pressure to help you keep your breathing stable, for people with central sleep apnea, or complex sleep apnea.
      The Apap doesn't attempt to keep the breathing stable, just attempts to keep the airway open, it may mark central apneas, but it does nothing to fix them.

    Bad move! Tiny touch screens are difficult for many seniors, those who are vision impaired, and those with certain physical limitations to operate. Leave it to the geniuses at Resmed to ruin what works well. The wheel was easy, this innovation will cause challenges.

    Seems like the ASV model is a do it all machine. I don’t see why they don’t just make the one machine to cover everything. I just had a sleep study this past Thursday and waiting for those results. The VA thinks I have sleep apnea since my anxiety has gone crazy and I’m tired all the time. I known I’ve had it for years but never really got concerned about it. My wife has it and i tried her machine and it felt like I was trying to breathe with my head out the car window. I would be fine using it if the exhale was easier. I wonder if I can tell the doc to give me a bipap instead of a cpap. I took a home study and it made them want to test me in the lab. So maybe they will prescribe one.

      I’m kinda in the similar situation, I don’t know where the anxiety is from but sleep is disrupted and daytime is not so great. One doctor suggested me ASV which may help with something called UARS (I’m not obese). How is your therapy now, if I may ask?

    • @ninjazxd
      @ninjazxd 4 місяці тому +1

      @@catallergiccat it seems to be going pretty good. I got prescribed the resumed air sense 11 auto set and it works great. It automatically adjusts the pressure based on my breathing and with the electric climate line the humidity is always just right. Took about a day to get used to it and with the epr at level 3 I have been doing well. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with my mask off and the air is blowing my eyelids open but not often. I have noticed more energy. Also daytime napping is gone. I find the resmed P30i to be my favorite mask so far. I have the Philips dream wear and the resmed n30i as well. Nice thing about the VA is it’s all free so if I want to try a different mask it’s as easy as an email. Sometimes when falling asleep I wake up and gasp like I was holding my breath while using the machine and I do it on my side so it’s probably a central apnea or anxiety. Definitely helps me sleep better.

    • @jlevans8784
      @jlevans8784 6 місяців тому +2

      The AirSense is an APAP. The AirCurve is a BIPAP.
      As an APAP, the AirSense will let you set a range of minimum and maximum inhalation pressure that keeps your airway open. On Auto mode, it will fluctuate between these two settings depending on your airflow readings. There's a setting called EPR, that will temporarily drop the pressure when you breathe out, but the maximum relief is 3.
      A BIPAP prescription works a little differently, but in an easy-to-understand nutshell, it lets you set a much higher EPR, which makes it much easier to breathe out against the pressure. A BIPAP also has a higher maximum setting for inhalation pressure.
      This AirCurve is specifically called an ASV, which is prescribed for people with complex apnea issues and unstable breathing patterns. An ASV machine has more intricate monitoring software to sense and correct sudden changes.
      Honestly, the technology's at a stage where there's no ethical excuse for having separate ASV machines, especially when there's such a huge price jump. $1800 for the standard AirCurve vs like $4000-$5000 for an ASV.

      I have the Airsense 10 ASV machine. Started off with CPAP, went to BIPAP, and when not working well, tested for Complex Apnea, so was put on ASV. What I didn't realize at the time was that the cost of the Airsense 10 ASV machine (Exactly the same machine as my Airsense 10 BIPAP except software) was $15,000 USD... almost 10X cost of same machine in BIPAP. It's crazy expensive even though insurance is slowly paying for most of it. However, it works better than either of my previous Resmed PAP machines, so there's that!

      @@OutbackOutlaw You can imagine my reaction when I figured it out myself. I received a couple of bills from the servicing company for over $1000 USD each, which turned out to just be some copays that I had to pay. At the time, I still owed over $9300 USD and hoping that my Medicare Advantage insurance will still pick up the bulk of the cost. I am getting 99%+ compliance usage, so that should work out. I signed the contract for it, so I'm stuck with the results.
