does increasing mitochondrial fusion protein affect the "bad" things coming from increased fragmentation?

Seems to be tightly regulated so too much or too little is bad and fine tuning is needed. Also, it seems not all fragmentation is bad - for example, smaller mito have more densely packed ETC components and can produce ATP more efficiently.
