So glad I found this video. I didn't know there were so many different books. I have the large hardcover of The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, that I bought online. Now, the prices are very high, unfortunately, 2 yrs after you posted this. You have a nice collection :)
I have a 1977 copyrighted version in hardcover of The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. I cannot destroy it for purposes of creating a junk journal though that was my intent upon purchase. I fell in love with this book! Her handwritten entries are so interesting and her watercolor paintings help bring everything to life. This is now a keepsake in my book collection.
Thank you!! I am just starting my collection..its nice to see the books..some of these places have no pics or descriptions..already bought 1 that is a disappointment..the diary of an Edwardian statesman..the cottage book. :(
If you want to see where she lived search for Olton, Sollihull Uk.Its only a small place in the centre of England and on the outskits of Birmingham, there are lots of lovely pics of the village at that time.
ooooh, i would totally frame a bunch of those pages & mix around with other art on an art wall! makes me wanna try my hand at some nature-themed watercolor
I know this is an old post of yours, but I wanted to Thank you for sharing and showing your Edith Holden books. I have one and absolutely love it. I am now going to look for more. Thanks again!
The hardcover and softcover are exactly the same quality of paper, I have both. I even have a really small one. Just found nature notes on amazon for $3 and $5 shipping so scooped that one up ! Thanks for the video
I found an Edith Holden book from 1977 hard cover at my library on sale for 1 dollar I don’t want to take it apart to journal with it it is too beautiful.
Enjoyed your video. I just bought one recently and had the same experience. I couldn't find a listing with any of the inside pages, not one, lol! So when I received my book this past week, I did the same thing. I did a quick flip through on my UA-cam channel of The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. Thank you for sharing your books.
I have a hardback copy of The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady and would be loathe to cut it up. But if I found a used paperback, I would have no compunction about taking it apart to use in my paper crafting. I did not know about the other three books--thanks for sharing them with your subscribers!
I have a collection too! But a couple of different books than you've shown here (I'm pretty sure your collection has grown!) I have two copies of "The Edwardian Lady" which is a biography of Edith Holden, and "The Country Diary Herbal" by Sarah Hollis, which have Edith Holden illustrations, but information about how herbs are used. There are other botanical images by un-named artists in it as well. The rose image is gorgeous! Keep your eyes opened for "A Victorian Flower Album" by Henry Terry. Published around the same time as the Edith Holden books, the artistic skill is rather less than E.H. - but the colours are vibrant, and most of the pages are in a landscape orientation of 8.5" by 10.5" - which is wonderful for turning into JJ pages.
I have two that I have found at Goodwill. Probably paid$ .88! Love them! I noticed a couple weeks ago Barnes and Noble was selling one of them with a different color cover/spine. I think it was $40. I also have stationary using her images. I think it was in my mother's things.
The hardcover of The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady measures 7.25 x 9.5 inches. I bought it to cut up but not sure i want to now that I've looked through it. It's quite a beautiful book!
I have all her books. I tear them up proudly and use them for tags as well as journal pages. I paid $8 for one of them, but 3.99 each for all the rest.
You should take a look at Marjorie Blamey books too. I love her even better than Holden :) Thank you for this comparison! Saved me from getting one I wouldn't like.
TFS, I just checked Amazon & the prices have gone up significantly since I bought them. I paid from $2.50 to $3.50. Now they are like $22 wow. Supply & demand. They will go down again when everyone stops buying them.
I was surprised at my Edith Holden Book titled "The Nature Notes Of An Edwardian Lady" ...it states in the copyright info: "Neither this book nor any part nor any of the illustrations, photographs nor reproductions contained in it shall be SOLD or disposed of otherwise than as a COMPLETE BOOK and any unauthorized sale of such part illustration photograph or reproduction shall be deemed to be a breach of the publishers' copyright."
Interesting I didnt read that. Would be a shame as the books are beautiful but can you imagine what would happen to them if they were not being recycled? *julie...
I wonder if it is the publisher...my book was published by Webb & Bower Publishers in Great Britain 1989 Penguin Books Ltd.They make it sound like you cannot take the book apart even if you wanted to for yourself as in: not to be disposed of otherwise as a complete book! Very strange !
I was taught it's pronounced Wis'ter (Worcester) and Wis'tersheer or Wis'tersher (Worcestershire). But my people are from New England, Canada and Scotland, so what do I know? 🤔😁
Lisa, they are copyrighted. I personally would just use the pages and not copy them as I am a rule follower (if I know there is a rule) to the point of illness lol... *julie...
Thank you for the reminder to behave! You are so right, and I agree with you. I'm a rule bender sometimes, that's why I got a traffic ticket a couple months ago for rolling through a stop sign!! Lol. Love ya
but i'm prettttty sure you can copy them AS LONG AS you're not using the copies for sale. in art school, we actually were assigned to make art out of photocopying other art and rearranging, collaging, etc
Judy they are copyrighted. I personally would just use the pages and not copy them as I am a rule follower (if I know there is a rule) to the point of illness lol... *julie...
I will scan all the pages and use them in personal journals so I don’t have to destroy the books. I can’t make myself take it apart it’s so beautiful.

The books were published in the 1980s. They are reproductions of Edith’s private diaries from the 1900s.
I have all her books. I tear them up proudly and use them for tags as well as journal pages. I paid $8 for one of them, but 3.99 each for all the rest.
I would have loved to have known her!
I just bought two - Diary and Nature Notes - on EBay. $6.88 for one, $5.25 for the other with free shipping.
You should take a look at Marjorie Blamey books too. I love her even better than Holden :) Thank you for this comparison! Saved me from getting one I wouldn't like.
I have those and feel horrible thinking of ripping into them.
I got the paperback for $8.00. I noticed all the hard covers of here wereway cheaper!

Everyone is destroying them.
Are Edith Holden pages copyrighted? I see everyone using them in their journals to sell.
Thanks. I'm trying to buy the Book Of Days for my girlfriend but can't find a copy anywhere
I found it on amazon last year. Had to keep looking and looking.
If you could only choose one, which would be your favorite?
