    Please note, all experiences listed below have been taken directly from the comments section below and have not been personally vetted. The only one I can speak for is my personal experience.
    To help, I've included a ** in the questionable statements as they seem a bit dubious and may be from sponsored agents.
    Mates FTTP - Getting 5-91Mb/s on the 100/40 plan - Cairoloves
    iinet FTTN - Getting 65Mb/s on the 100/40 plan - Another Skywalker
    Optus Cable - Getting 8/0.6Mb/s on the 100/2 plan - Mewth16
    Spintel NBN - Getting 5.3Mb/s on the Basic plan - Doctor Thomas
    Telstra Cable - Getting 35Mb/s on the 200gb plan - kolray25
    **Telstra - Getting 99MB/s on FTTN - Paul Diaz
    Optus - Getting 43.3/18.8 Mb/s on 50/20

    MATE COMMUNICATE - INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
    When signing up the only hidden charge was the $300 hit for installing NBN in a new build. I've heard that Telstra salespeople offer to waive the charge if you sign up for a 24 month deal with them, but with Mates, as their package is month to month, refused to compromise. Furthermore, as NBN hadn't been used in our flat before, setup was a bit confusing as we didn't realise that there was a router inside our apartment already, but after a bit of googling you just plugged the RJ45 cable into the NBN router and connected it to your own router. If you're going with a BYOM solution, you'll of course need your own RJ45 connector.
    Once it was up and running we've been hitting a solid down and upstream, which was GREAT coming from an ADSL background.
    MATE COMMUNICATE - AFTER 6 MONTHS
    We've been using Mates for over 7 months now. Initially the service was super-fast, but after the 4 month mark, things started to feel slower. I've done some further testing and it seems that when pinging servers in the UK during peak hours I now get around 5MB/s, and servers in America get me 30MB/s, but servers in Australia are still 90+MB/s, so it's not all bad. The issue could be that perhaps more units in my block might have also upgraded to NBN or they too do the nasty on you and degrade your service after 4 months. But either way, they're still charging me $99 per month while my service has degraded. It's disappointing, but on the positives we're on a month by month contract so switching will be easy. Hey, I might even try the whole ADSL route to see how it compares to NBN, so if anyone has any recommendations please let me know.

    One tip
    "iinet FTTN - Getting 65MB/s on the 100/40 plan - Another Skywalker
    Mates FTTP - Getting 91MB/s on the 100/40 plan - Cairoloves
    Spintel NBN - Getting 5.3MB/s on the Basic plan - Doctor Thomas
    Telstra Cable - Getting 35MB/s on the 200gb plan - kolray25"
    In computer data metrics when you are abbreviating mega bits per second the correct format is Mbps or Mb/s (M - Mega, lower case b - bits, and obviously ps or /s - per second) but in your chart you have used a capital B EG "65MB/s" which actually means mega bytes per second (M - Mega, upper case B - Bytes, and obviously ps or /s - per second).
    There are 8 bits in 1 byte, byes being the official measurement of storage mediums and bits being the official measurement for a network or other data transfer connection, even though both megabytes per second and megabits per second can be and often are used to measure network speed depending on the application there is a significant difference between the two and should not be confused.
    If you were actually getting 91 MB/s (megabytes per second) then your internet connection would have to be a minimum of 91MB/s x 8 = 728 Mb/s (megabits per second) in speed which is closer to 1gb/s (or 1000mb/s) internet like google fibre in the US.
    It's a very common misconception made by people as lots of apps like for example steam and google chrome both use megabytes per second as the default download speed measurement and I often see people saying something like:
    "well i have an adsl connection, speed tested it and my speed test says i have 8mbps download yet when i download a game on steam it says I'm only getting 1 mbps?"
    What they don't pay attention to is that steam is actually measuring download speed in megabytes per second which once again is shown as a capital B in MB/s in steam which they don't take note of they just see the letters MB/s and assume it means megabits per second when in fact its not its megabits per second its megabytes per second. Hence the 8 bits in one byte simply multiply the 1 MB/s they see in steam by 8 times and this gives you the 8Mb/s megabit measurement that matches the speed test they did displayed in megabits.
    So yeah sorry for the long winded reply but its very important to know the difference between the two and not to use a capital B when your referring to megabits per second. :3

      Can you recommend some good tech channels to watch? I seem to always come across the same maybe 10-15 people. A lot of the reviewers are very sponsored and only go where the money is (it makes sense, doing it professional takes a lot of time and doesn't pay much on YT), so topics like this one are under-serviced.

    This might be the solution. No more waiting for game downloads and installations. No more Ping lag on US servers. Freedom.
    I hate when people in games say, " OMG my ping is lagging OMG!" But actually, their ping is around 20 - 35.

    I am moving to a house where FTTP connection box is installed in a garage. If I place my router in the garage I don't think I will get the best access to the whole house.
    The house does have built-in ethernet in all rooms and living room. could I connect my router to that?

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  6 років тому +1

      Depends on how your house is setup, do you have a ethernet port patch panel from where the FTTP box is to an area closer to your computer? If so, then yes you can connect the relevant port from the FTTP box into the ethernet patch panel, then connect another cable from the out slot closer to your computer into a wifi router there.

    You missed the best - Aussie Broadband. Unlimited = congested. ABB is a bit more expensive for 1TB or higher if want 100/40 speed, but worth it. 50/20 1TB is around the right cost for most people - $85 for 1TB 50/40. I have a 3 person sharehouse with the other 2 being light users and me heavy, I use around 400GB a month and they use around 250 between them. So never more than 650GB generally. I pay $92 for 600GB 100/40 and then change plan if run out last few days to 1.4TB 50/20 for $91. They are worth the extra for great service and consistent good speeds/lack of congestion, great o.s. pings. You should have considered Optus as well - I hear they are bad/congested but the price is ok. There's also Skymesh but while they USED to be good a year ago, since they sold to overseas owner they have gone to balls.

I have only 4 ports in my router so should I use a switch. From the NBN modem to the router and from router to the switch and connect all the network port to the switch with network cables. After doing that I have run into a problem like I computer connect to the internet. but other ones are not on the switch per port you have two lights all of them there are only one light blinks. Help please much appreciated.

    Let's see how good "Mates" will be after first 6 months, TPG and DODO both have this way of reducing speeds after first 6 months (Personal Experience with TPG and one of my mates working for DODO). Im not trying to say one connection is better than the other, I usually consider Internet speed, Continues Stability, customer service, Resolution time. Telstra sometimes sucks but it's the most reliable connection i ever used besides Mobile Broadband. Also would like to point out the fact that Telstra and Optus are the ones who maintain the main Network for rest of the Broadband providers. Also speed testing sites cannot be compared with realtime usage when you connect few devices to the same wifi or wired network.

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  7 років тому +1

      I totally agree, it's been about 4 months with them so will hopefully remember to let you know after it hits 6. Speeds seem fine so far with Mates. Good thing is that it's a month to month contract so if it ever drops, I guess I can always switch. Which network would you recommend? The only one that tempts me is MyRepublic.net as their prices are very good.

    When the NBN is rolled out in my area next month, i will be getting the HFC connection instead of FTTP/FTTN. Do you think it's still worth it to pick Mate's highest speed package? I have no idea what speeds I would get with any of them. I just don't want to pick a speed package higher than their base one if I end up not getting speeds anywhere near close what's advertised. I don't know what connection type I have but I currently get about 6/0.8 with Optus.

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  7 років тому +1

      I used to be on that speed at my last place which had ADSL only (that's why I was using an ADSL/VDSL router in the video). I personally went with the soulmates package as I'm a heavy internet user, and am getting around 90% of what's advertised with FTTP.
      In your case as it's HFC, it'll depend on how many people will be sharing the connection, also the way the sharing algo works, it takes the speeds away from the most heavy users to even things out, so if you're on the top speed, when someone else starts using the internet, it'll take your speed away first, whereas if you're on the slower connection, you'd notice drops less, but of course never get the top speeds. In which case, if I was you I'd go for the 2nd cheapest option (25/5) and if you're not happy with the speeds, you can always bump up the package as it's a month to month contract. If you do, please let us know how fast you get too, to help other people out.
      Optional Karma Points: If you sign up and mention "Ash 550746" in the sign up notes I'll get a refer a friend coupon.
      Also, for the cheapest deal check out MyRepublic.net (I couldn't go for them as they didn't serve my area, but they might serve yours), the reviews online aren't as good as Mates, but they're not the worst.

    • @headofnews

      It's really annoying they can get away with that! We should at least get a partial refund for the difference in speed they advertise vs deliver.

    • @deadline546

      @Another Skywalker
      "if you decide on the 100/40 top speed and just for argument sake are only getting a top speed of 25mb/sec, switching to the cheaper 25/mb plan may only yield speeds of 15mb/sec!?"
      Nope wrong if your on the top plan (100/40) and can only get a max on 25mbps then you are being limited either by the length of copper cable in the case of FTTN (happens all the time not just in peak) or possibly limited by CVC or HFC congestion (usually only happens in peak times say when everyone comes home from work at around 5-9pm and uses bandwidth).
      So it wouldn't matter if you were on 100/40, 50/20, 25/10 or 25/5 you would still get the same 25mbps download speed. Changing the plan speed down wont limit it further beyond the bottleneck that you already have.
      The best way is try the top plan first and see what you get for both peak and offpeak times then if you are limited by sumthing choose the plan that matches the limit.
      EG if your on FTTN and your line is long and you cant get any faster then say 40-50mbps download all the time then drop down to the 50/20 plan since the 100/40 plan is a bit of a waste though one thing to note you will probly get slower upload speeds so if upload speed is important then keep the bigger 100/40 plan. all kinda depends on the individual situation.

I contacted Mates Communicate and the listened to my story and allowed me to cancel my order with them no penalty. So they are pretty good in my book. I used to work for Telstra, lots of people are still confused about FTTN and FTTP, when NBN places optic fibre to a DA, which is defined by what's called the distribution area labelled the DA, the cabled area is all the premises which are cabled from the same cabinets/pillars, those DA's are going to be taken out of service by Telstra on copper cables, you cannot have the 2 systems side by side, no company is going to service cables and equipment when not many people are left on it, once NBN takes over a DA there is a general time limit to be connected, there is no option 2, the government as per usual have not a clue about telecommunications and how the system works, its a complete waste of money and resources to keep the copper network which is obsolete, the only way to go is FTTP.

    • @actorzone856

      Carioloves, pleasure, additional information is the DA also covers a particular area of normally up to 200 customers, so a person living in a suburb can have the NBN and his neighbour on the opposite side of the road is without, its due to that person being in a different DA, the DAs are cabled in blocks to suit the underground infrastructure, we had some excellent cable designers, the one I knew in Launceston was given a redundancy due to centralization, the telecommunications joke continues.

    I had my republic. It is really bad for gaming, because it has a lot of packet loss so it makes it impossible to game on. When nobody is using the net it’s fine. But when somebody gets on the internet it goes to shit. And they never answer the phone, now I’m getting mate hopefully it’s good.

      Thanks for letting me know, I was looking into MyRepublic. Mate was great for the first few months, but then it did start to slow down. I'm not sure if it's because they slow down users after a few months once you're comfortable and too lazy to switch or just more people started switching to NBN. The good thing is that it's at least a month to month contract so if they do slow you down you can always switch.

      I looked at it because they were going to bring in / were testing a gigabit plan. Which sounds ace as they were trying to do it affordable for the residential users. But I heard not a great network.. and I need good pings and stability/ no jitter or packet loss. I think for smaller/newer companies like MyRepublic they start out good when not many people in your area are using it, then go to crap once they become popular/advertising spreads and they have more uptake.

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  7 років тому

      Unless there's some sort of financial incentive to switching, I'd just stick to ADSL2 as I hear there's lots of problems with Node.
      In the description I've added the commenters who have reported their FTTN speeds.
      iinet FTTN - Getting 65Mb/s on the 100/40 plan - Another Skywalker
      Spintel NBN - Getting 5.3Mb/s on the Basic plan - Doctor Thomas
      **Telstra - Getting 99MB/s on FTTN - Paul Diaz
      I left in the comment by Paul Diaz, but I wouldn't trust it as it's a bit unbelievable, probably a sponsored actor. 65 Mb/s is more achievable, but I imagine this report was from off-peak usage, and when everyone in the neighbourhood is connected, I imagine it to not be so fast.
      What kind of speeds are you getting with ADSL2 here? (You can check by going to speedtest.net)

    • @Ninja_Gaijin
      @Ninja_Gaijin 6 років тому

      A good ADSL2+ connection is probably exactly the same as FTTN .. considering you're using copper after the node anyway lol. So it means you have good connection to the exchange.. and then ADSL2+ level or worse from the exchange to anywhere in the world and back again heh

    • @Ninja_Gaijin
      @Ninja_Gaijin 6 років тому

      I honestly say never cancel your plan until you sign up for a free month trial on another service, on port 2 or 3, in order to concurrently do speedtests at peak hour to 'prove' the ISP you were with is crap. Then you can ask for instant cancellation/no 30 day wait and/or possibly a refund for the month you've paid already etc. I had to do this with FTTP between TPG and Skymesh in 2013 (before Skymesh went to crap) and was pretty easy to prove how bad the TPG nbn network was. I highly suggest trying Aussie Broadband from personal experience, or Telstra from reports of good international pings and peering.

    Dude, your video is very misleading - when you opened the cupboard you showed us that you have FTTP
    not FTTN which is the technology that most Australians are complaining about.
    In other words you have a full blooded fibre optic connection not the half baked crap fibre/copper
    network that the rest of us have to put up with for many years to come.
    Am I right? Do you have FTTP?

      Dude I am on Telstra Naked Cable right now have been since June 2013 35 MB/S
      I want to transfer to the NBN but in my area which is Glenfield NSW it is FTTN only
      and I am shit scared of signing up with any ISP and getting crap download speeds
      worse than I have now. I am worried that if I leave Telstra cable I may not be able to get it back
      you know what I mean.

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  7 років тому +2

      I'm with you there, if I was you I'd just stick to the 35 MBs (unless you're getting bad speeds or the price is extortionate) as even with the 100 MBs package on FTTN you might loose up 50% of the speeds (there's some horror stories on whirlpool.net.au). At my last place I was on ADSL 5 MBs, so the jump to 100 MBs has been amazing, but I'd imagine 35 MBs to 100 MBs wouldn't really be as noticeable.

    • @kolray25
      @kolray25 7 років тому +1

      Yep I pay $69.95 per month for 200gb and the download speed never wavers from 35mbs.
      When the NBN notified us in our area that the suburb was NBN ready which was in March
      they told us we had 18 months to sign up to the NBN. After that our old connections (ADSL/Cable etc)will be disconnected. So I have until September 2018 on cable.
      With some luck by that time the technology may have improved somewhat.
      Better cabling? perhaps who knows.

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  7 років тому

      Thanks for that info, that's a really good price you got there, I'm paying 50% extra for mine, so I'd definitely hold out till they force you off it. Apparently they're rolling out FTTC now to replace FTTN, which is in-between FTTN and FTTH/P, so next year will be a safer time.

Offer includes modem but does not support 802.11ac, and only has 10/100 ethernet (no Gigabit ethernet) but you can use any Telstra modem instead of Belong's - just enter the username and password.

      if you look up internet service providers on Product review, the first choice is Mate and a yellow banner advising that it is sponsored. I love Product review and it was the first place i checked out. and it still doesn't change the fact that it has a lot of people very happy with the Lets be Mates service.However there appears to be a lot of other companies sneaking up in the ratings as well. All small Australian companies with Australian call centres and much better customer service. That is the key. We should all vote with our feet and march away from Optus and Telstra and try something different.

    Why are you comparing NBN? It's not the #1 provider of Internet. You'd best use TPG's Fibre-To-The-Building FTTB or TPG's Fibre 400 or Fibre 1000 service as they're pure fibre optic without any copper connections to the building. No one would use NBN when they have another choice lol.

      OK let me be clearer
      Now.. let me also say, i should not have to go to this level
      YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING
      so...
      1. Bow and Cow.... DO ACTUALLY RHYME what the fuck are you on about ?
      you can BOW to someone to show respect
      you can milk a COW
      they both used the ending OW which is like saying... OWWW I HIT MY FUCKING FINGER WITH A HAMMER

      it's spelt as
      ROUTER
      when we split the word up into 2 it's like this
      ROU TER
      NOW if it was called a Bouter
      it would be pronounded
      BOW TER
      so. it should be obvious that pronounce it correctly
      you can say
      ROW TER
      and ROW (in this context is pronounced phonetically as
      ROW.. as in to rhyme with WOW and HOW and POW
      get it....
      ROW TER
      seriously..... was all this necessary
      let me know if anything is still unclear
      but,
      COW does Rhyme with BOW mate
      what drugs are
      actually it also rhymes with ROW
      but you could also pronounce it as ROW as in row row row your boat

    You can't compare Telstra to other lower tiered companies. Telstra has the best offshore links they are consistent. They don't use sucky vocus as a backbone nor are they affected as much as others when it comes down to congestion during peak times as they don't offer "unlimited". Due to the pricing for the cvc no company should offer unlimited and if they do it's suspect. Many many many caveats when it comes down to the nbn. From the avaible technology to the actual rsp that handles the connection. Cheaper isps might not have a pop in all major cities. So your traffic for instance may need to go from Sydney to melbourne (where the pop is located) back to Sydney before it travels its destination.
    Honestly if Telstra ran a smear complain explaining the nuances of their network and the advantages over the other players people won't write it off like they have done so in the past
    Mate uses M2 as their backend which uses both Telstra and Vocus. When I had a connection that used Vocus my overseas traffic was abysmal and proved impossible to stream overseas live tv. Also my Facebook videos stuttered. UA-cam was great though. Every isp has little caveats like that. If all you do is access national data then I'll say go with whomever you want. If you want to use the actual internet then I'll say you need to do your research

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  7 років тому

      Thanks for the commentary. I haven't had any problems with Mates yet, but its interesting to know about the Vocus backend. The main reason why I had to discount Telstra is that they capped their internet bandwidth at 1TB.

    • @attomicchicken
      @attomicchicken 7 років тому +1

      Cairoloves so does every other isp that isn't on unlimited. Sky mesh has a bigger cap and Aussiebroadband are going to bring bigger ones. The cvc pricing necessitates it (every Mbit of the service costs the isp $17.50). Now tell me how an unlimited service deals with that burden. I'll tell you. It oversells itself and the service goes to literal shit when more and more people use it. The current model is unsustainable. Either you pay peanuts and get monkeys or you pay through the nose for a decent connection.
      It's always been polly greed and red tape in this country. Even the way they handled the handover of the network is suspect. Nbn bought the network from Telstra for billions and now Telstra are the maintainers of their previous network. Win win triple win for Telstra.

      That's good to know, I guess if Mates ever do get overcrowded, its just a month-to-month contract so I can always jump ship. Are there any other providers other than Telstra you can recommend? I'm particularly looking for something that doesn't cap the bandwidth.

      Cairoloves that's a hard one. How about I recommend ones to *avoid*
      My Republic
      AusBBS
      Possibly dodo
      Optus would be good but people seem to not like it (people never liked it)
      Tpg - they own iinet, internode, aapt and westnet - people don't like them. But my neighbours are with iinet and when my Internet goes down, there's is still up
      If you are looking for local support fast support then I wouldn't recommend the tpg or optus route. Smaller ISPs are better in that regard. If you are just looking for speed during off peak then you can go with any isp. If you want stability then avoid those first two
      It depends on what you want
      For instance I'm with a company called Aussie broadband. They have great local support all in Australia. They are pricey at $100 1tb 100/40. They're international links are good but they're UA-cam streams can be slow (they are from what I gather peering and don't have a direct UA-cam link)
      They get about 70mbps when it's peak time. At my exchange I do notice drops during the wee hours of the morning at around 2am. My friend has a optus connection and he also says he experiences frequent drops. Maybe it's my area.
      Best would be to ask technically inclined neighbours if they are happy and what they recommend as the service can vary drastically from place to place

    you do realise that all NBN services use the same network. all services should be the same providing its not congested.

  • @specialized29er86
    @specialized29er86 4 роки тому

    I think the NBN is a big scam because I've been using ADSL for 15 years in the outback and was extremely happy with the speed and their services and after moving to a new residence in town I find the NBN is the same speed as the ADSL.

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  4 роки тому +2

      You're right mate, a lot of NBN doesn't use the faster FTTC or FTTP connection, but FTTN - which depending on how far away you are from the node can be very similar in speed to ADSL.

  • @clinton_jackson
    @clinton_jackson 7 років тому +1

    Please don't blindly follow this video, unlimited plans are more often than not the worst option as they are abused, this causes problems for everyone, also don't go for cheap plans as the provider can't afford to buy enough bandwidth causing congestion, also all new lines connected will incur a ~$300 fee, but if you have FTTP/HFC or are replacing an existing ADSL connection you won't be charged the new development fee, if you want some real advise let me know

    • @headofnews

      Nice tips mate, which provider do you recommend?

    • @clinton_jackson
      @clinton_jackson 7 років тому +3

      Cairoloves the 2 we keep coming back to are Aussie broadband and skymesh, the nbn is a seriously complex network and there are soo many costs involved for the isp, but most of the costs are public, for example if we look at my republic which is $59 for unlimited 100/40, the cost to just have the connection is $38, then they have to buy something called CVC, this is the bandwidth from your area(or Point of interconnect) to the isp, the cost for this is just over $15 per megabit and is shared between the users, so they need to buy $1500 of CVC for a single person to achieve full speed, now not everyone uses full speed at the same time so sharing that cost is fine but they do need to keep a under a certain ratio or users will experience congestion, if the isp buys 1mbit per user that would be a 100:1 ratio, this would be a bad ratio to have, if they buy 2mbit it would drop it down to 50:1 which might be enough for companies with lower data limits, in general the more they buy the better the service will be, but it is up to the isp how much or how little they buy, with companies like myrepublic once you factor in the service fee plus 1mbit of CVC is $53 which leaves $6, then they still have to pay for their POI inter connects and their internet backhaul, so for these companies to make any money hey have to cut costs by purchasing minimal CVC, and for unlimited plans they would need to purchase more CVC to compensate. Sorry for the info dump, I have been wading through the back end of the nbn for the last few months, hope this helps anyone who is interested

      ABB +1 - Skymesh stopped buying enough CVC a year ago when international buyout, from my experience - was great from 2013 to start of 2016. Don't think going to change from ABB anytime soon :)

    Almost every service in aus is amongst the worst, you should see the internationals when they use our internet, they just get confused at the cost to performance and wonder if we pay a percentage of the bill for the short fall....

    • @headofnews
      @headofnews  6 років тому

      Is there any service which you can slightly recommend? For me, it hasn't been that bad really, as in the UK I had ADSL, and it was cheap but very slow. At work we had BT Business Premium Super Fast Internet which cost a small fortune, but it was not suitable for business, every 8 weeks it'd cut out for a few hours due to unforeseen repairs. In Australia, so far FTTP has been pretty reliable, while too slow for 4K streaming, or 480p streaming international sites, Mates have only been down on me once for half an hour at around 5am.

      Only 20Mbps up? Here in the UK you can get 1000Mbps down (or apparently 1124 - 1145 Mbps) and 52 Mbps up on Cable broadband and the best part is, congestion doesn't exist here (at least where I'm at)!

      Hello, have not got it yet due to usual NBN delays but should get it within 1-2 months. Just FYI I am getting FTTN and I am going with MyRepublic's 'Gamer plan'. Will tell speed, and about customer support if I end up needing it.

    • @jay-uo2bi
      @jay-uo2bi 7 років тому +1

      Ok, So recently I got switched over to MyRepublic NBN, I am on FTTN and I am getting 22-24 Down and 11 upload and I am pretty sure that NBNCO put me on the 25 plan because they are cheapskates, and at the moment I think I might be one of the only houses on the node I am connected to, when purchasing over the phone they only took a few minutes to pick up and the first guy was the usual indian but then he put us through to a good clear understanding person. Once I have contacted them saying it seems I am not on the 100/40 plan and the fix it, I will wait for more people to get on then I shall tell you the speed. Note: They switched me over on like Wednesday and it is Monday and their Modem hasn't arrived which would suck for others who don't have a compatible router, luckily I have Negear D7000 which worked straight away with MyRepublic. Also my ping is higher then ADSL2+ but the speeds have tripled. I also think my IP is a NZ not AUS one.

  • @0Zolrender0

    The whole system is fucked as once data from the fibre hits the node and goes into copper, the entire speed you can get is not only bottle necked but left up to varibles. How far are you from the node? What is the state of the copper from the node to your house? What is the state of your phone line within your house? You would have none of these problems with FTTH. You will never get 100MPBS with FTTN as the Libs promised us. I am flat out getting 30. We got a dud from what could have been a world leading service.

    1 - MATE - What the hell is a ROOTER?...... :)
    2 - MATE - Here In Australia we pronounce the word ROU -TER.......As......ROW -TER.........‘ROUT’ rhymes with ‘DOUBT :)
    3 - MATE - If you are sponsored by Mate communications - then please say so in your introduction :)
    4 - MATE - I have had Fibre To The Premises for nearly 2yrs , I had been with Internode (now unfortunately part of the mongrel TPG group) since 2007 when I was on ADSL which was great, but I got sick of the slowdown/congestion on the internet after 6pm since getting FTTP so I ditched them .
    5 - MATE - There is only one ISP in Australia that makes special mention of maintaining decent CVC capacity - Australian-based Support - Australian Owned Infrastructure - Congestion-Free Network - and that ISP is Aussie Broadband.
    Aussie Broadband $80 per month 100/40 Mbps... 500 GB and they have been true to their word I'm very happy with them so far, I'm getting a constant 97 Mbps + 24/7 no problems, no congestion at all... (And no I don't work for them or anything )
    6 - Thanks MAAAATE :)

    I have just signed up with Letsbemates for the Adsl2+ service based on their reviews. I hope they can provide better speeds than Iprimus with whom I was getting 8mbps max speed and averaging around 5-6 mbps which is a joke in 2017, Even back in 2012 i was getting 15mbps with Dodo but then year after year its been goin downhill. I think by the time I receive NBN at my place it's going to become out of date.

      MyRepublic were testing a gigabit plan but I don't think it panned out.. one decade maybe.. with so few people over a country the size of the USA it is hard to justify the costs to offer such a plan for a price residential consumers can afford/will pay
