      It seems from some benchmarks as though Radeon 890M is 40% better than 780M, while Xe2 is 50% better than Xe1 (which is slightly better than 780M on average), so its quite possible that Xe2 could beat 890M, but most likely they will be quite similar.

      @@auritro3903yeah, I heard that Rdna3 had a bunch of hardware bugs that are hopefully going to be fixed in the new iteration which would improve performance as well as the 33% increase in CU’s. Honestly both seem great, I’m just waiting for laptops to start coming out

      Don’t know if the update is necessary, but it performs about the same at 15w and lunar lake 28w performs the same as 890m 54w (however these are synthetic benchmarks and don’t necessarily represent gaming performance

    Sounds like a good chip. I'm all in favor of SOCs and any design that doesn't force a hot, power sucking Nvidia chip in it.... Give me a lunar lake laptop in a small thin profile and good battery, and let me put Fedora Linux on it... The AI discussion is interesting. I don't mind AI, just put it under the user's control.

    if they show us a test in the game at 1080p, then I hope there will be laptop models for $700-800 where 1080p will be the native resolution, and I also hope that with the release of new processors, 32GB of RAM will be at least 16GB too little

  • @JuanCAraujoS
    @JuanCAraujoS 3 місяці тому +2

    If Intel figures out a way to combine the built-in RAM with expandable RAM slots (maybe CAMM) it would be great. Like having the 16GB base on chip with room for 16 or 32 more.

      this is very bad idea to be honest. you instantly lose the whole benefit of integrated memory modules that way and if you have memory with different speeds, it makes the computation dramatically more difficult to achieve high performance

      @@JuanCAraujoS I get it but this is not an issue anymore. If you have a computer with 16GB or 32GB, you're fine for at least next 5-6 years or more. app memory requirements almost haven't changed for the last 5 years. I mean buy a new computer then, prices are going down

      Nope. From different articles of come across AMD and Intel's new AI chips only support at most 32 gigs of RAM in that all depends on the manufacturer of the laptop And these are all soldered You can't upgrade them later which sucks cuz it feels like they're pulling an apple

    • @b.c.2177
      @b.c.2177 3 місяці тому

      @@DipJyotiDeka Running WSL with Docker, VMware, LLMs, and other resource-intensive applications benefits from having more RAM. Currently, I have 32GB, and I could add another 16GB, but instead of adding more RAM now, I've decided to buy a new laptop during one year. For LLMs, I need more RAM, and in my next laptop, I'd like to have 64GB. My previous ThinkPad served me well for over 10 years. This current one was purchased 1.5 years ago with a 12th-gen Intel processor, and I thought I would use it for at least 10 years, but I already want a new one. :)
      RAM should never be completely full; there should always be a significant portion (~ 50%) available for optimal system performance.
