Hi Chris! Thanks for mentioning us in the video. Actually, CKEditor 4 is available under 3 OS licenses: GPL, LGPL and MPL(the most permissive out of the three) and CKEditor 5 is available under GPL, so it leaves you much to choose from 😉
5 years later Quill has the same isses where formatting just sucks. I spent hours trying to debug what I was doing wrong to eventually find out it's just a well-abstracted mess. Issues range back to 2017 for this simple problem, where you press enter after a header and another one gets inserted and you can't change it without deleting the whole document and starting from scratch. And this is a clean editor without plugins. It's just bad.
@@realchrishawkes you bet. Also a friend just introduced me to SimpleMDE, paired with showdown, for a really great markdown editor with code block syntax highlighting
When describing CKEditor you should definitely state which version you are referring to. CKEditor 4 and CKEditor 5 are completely different products code-wise (v. 5 being rewritten from the scratch, with alpha version released in late 2017). Different people might be interested in one or another, based on their needs.
quilljs looks over-engineered. There are too many APIs for which there is no documentation or explanation. you just have to read the source code to understand how it works. this original "magic" code was written without a single comment, if you know what I mean
cant agree more, easily the best wysiwyg especially if you are looking for something lightweight and build your website on a bootstrap frame.. apis of the first two are nightmare if you need to dive deep into customization, not to mention the pricey commercial licences...

Damn you killing in it with the videos lately. Keep up the work.
Prosemirror is another, and medium editor is a good one for simple projects.

Wow! Thanks!
Great video Chris but I'm just wondering can someone please give a summary of this video? Which one should I choose and why?

whats the best one today that uses bootstrap?
What about Vim ?
It's our jobs, as trolls, to get upset at everything you say. :)

I feel like it’s died.
Can you review Draftjs
definitely, thank you. I'm writing it in my notes now.
Still Waiting for tinyOS tinySM (Smartphone) and tinyLT (Laptop)
I like summernote, more simple. These advanced editors had security flaws in the past that allowed php shells to be uploaded, I don't trust them.
Summernote is AWESOME! So, so good!
Django-Summernote then is just pure magic...

Ckeditor is my choice.

@@realchrishawkes its free for freelancers and small projects.
Сложно кастомизировать
ckeditor api is difficult to use
Can you make a video about django oscar please?!
Get to the point dude! Why don't you make a seperate video in which you discuss largely how you want to call all your programs?
😂🤣😅🤣😂🤣
