हालिया संपन्न विधानसभा चुनावों में आजसू पार्टी 81 में से 10 सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ी थी. जीत मिली केवल एक सीट पर. मांडू में तिवारी महतो 231 वोट से जीते. बाकी 9 सीटों पर करारी हार मिली जिनमें गोमिया और सिल्ली भी है. हमने इन्हीं 2 सीटों का नाम इसलिए लिया क्योंकि गोमिया में कद्दावर लंबोदर महतो लड़े थे तो सिल्ली में खुद सुप्रीमो सुदेश महतो पार्टी के प्रत्याशी थे. आजसू पार्टी की दुर्दशा का अंदाजा इस बात से लगाइये कि कई सीटों पर इनके प्रत्याशी तीसरे नंबर पर खिसक गये. डुमरी और गोमिया कुछ प्रमुख उदाहरण हैं. इन सीटों पर जयराम महतो के नेतृत्व वाली नई नवेली पार्टी जेएलकेएम ने आजसू को घातक नुकसान पहुंचाया. सियासी जानकार यह मानने लगे हैं कि जेएलकेएम ने आजसू पार्टी की प्रासंगिकता पर प्रश्नचिन्ह लगा दिया है. इसका सीपी चौधरी की नाराजगी से सीधा संबंध है. कैसे? इसे आगे समझेंगे लेकिन पहले उनके मोहभंग का प्राथमिक कारण समझते हैं.

It is claimed that CP Choudhary wanted Duryodhan Mahato as its candidate on this seat. His argument was that Yashoda Devi has got enough opportunities. She lost in 2014. She lost the 2019 assembly elections. When a by-election was held after the death of Jagannath Mahato, she lost there too. And this time, Jairam Mahato was in front like a storm in the contest. According to information received from sources, CP Choudhary argued that Duryodhan Mahato has a big influence. He has a domineering and influential image. If he contests, there is a possibility of victory. Even if he does not win, at least he can stop the storm named Jairam, but party supremo Sudesh Mahato did not pay heed to his advice, let alone accept it. Due to this, CP Choudhary felt that there is one way communication in the party. That is, whatever Sudesh Mahato says becomes the ultimate truth. That is irrefutable. CP Choudhary also feels that after the Lok Sabha elections, his leader Sudesh Mahto did not communicate properly with the BJP high command regarding the post of minister in the Union Cabinet and this is the reason why he did not get the post of minister despite his name being in the discussion. It is claimed that not only CP Choudhary but other senior leaders have also started feeling that there is one way communication in the party. There is no scope for discussion within the party. Ultimately, everyone has to accept whatever Sudesh Mahto does or says. Some people also believe that Sudesh Mahto style politics suits the politics of the center. In a tribal dominated state like Jharkhand, where many issues are very complex, Sudesh Mahto's politics will not bring success.
