A slow burner that exploded in the last 30 minutes. A masterfully crafted, expertly helmed narrative with outstanding performances. Cant believe this movie is crafted by a very new director and writer. Vijayaghavans portrayal of the father character with Alzheimer's disease who is living in his own loop deserves an Oscar. Even his minute facial expressions and gestures were sheer perfection. A true delight to watch him nail the character and indeed a study for budding actors. Kishkindakandam - An Indian International Classic!!
Saw this movie in theatre with a good crowd. It was a fantastic theatre experience. The last 15 minutes with the revelation and the music took the movie to a different level altogether
Vijay Raghavan's character reminds us of this Greek character Prometheus who is punished by Zeus by letting vultures eat his heart everyday, as soon as a new heart replaces the heart eaten by the vultures the previous day.
What a beautiful movie! Have to watch it a 2nd time to appreciate Asif's acting. Asif is excellent when you watch it without knowing anything and even after you know the story. Vijayaraghavan as grandpa is outstanding. Aparna was great along with jagadeesh/sumadathan
Thanks! We have a ton of content on this channel so hope you'll enjoy those as well. No letterboxd from me, but I think Kathy and Melanie might have an account.
This was the biggest and most critically acclaimed movie from entire Malayalam cinema industry this year , so it's really surprising that it went under all of your radars . Few months before this movie released there was a web series called porul which had a lot of similar themes , not same though very uniquely different but still connected together. You all should definitely check it out as well !
Nice review! I wish you had also mentioned the writer / cinematographer Bahul Ramesh. The brilliance of this movie lies in its flawless and airtight screenplay, especially impressive considering this is his debut writing effort. He truly deserves a big shoutout for his work. Also, I felt that the background score and sound design, elevate the film to another level.
I love you guys and adore you. This movie is fantastic 😻 omg I am proud to be a Malayali. There is something great about us. I am really sorry but we are different and the audience perspective in us is different. No offense but we are self made critics since birth
To see vijaraghavan's performance, please watch the 2023 movie "Pookkaalam". He portrays a 95 yr old man convincingly. Jagadeesh is also there. A very different/ must watch movie.
Kishkinda kandam is a chapter in Ramayana the epic. In short there are 2 deaths/killings in that. The japanese 3 wise monkeys are the main 3. The writer and cinematographer is same. While writing the story he was listening to interstellar and other Nolan bgm It's mentionedappu Pillai wasnaxel who can't join army but there are two references that it's not recoded. In a crime committed by them from a newspaper cutting appu Pillai 17 and his friend is21. And there is a passing reference tat appu pilli's father was affluancial so he could manage to remove him from the case
Great movie and good discussion. You guys should also check out Sookshma Darshini. I found Sookshma Darshini to be a better movie. Would be interesting to know your review of this.
Will be checking out that trailer soon! We'll have to wait till the OTT release to watch the movie though. It's only in select cinemas now where we are.

The theatre experience would have been wild, thanks for sharing!

Wow great analogy.

Good call on the feedback, appreciate it! The screenplay was magnificent, one of the most unique scripts I've seen.

Wow, sounds like we gotta check it out.

You know when I read the name I thought it might have some references to something in scripture.
The director’s first movie has a nice storyline too. Asif Ali plays the role of a divorce attorney in that one.

Good discussion. Also the wife and Asif Ali didn't seem to have any chemistry. Not enough for a newly register wed couple
Thanks! Yeah that's the only part I had an issue with. The wife was more of a plot device rather than a character with emotional depth.
Check out the newly released RUDHIRAM trailer
