- Hello to everyone,
I am very happy to be able to see one of the wonders of the world.
In this video you can enter my Angkor Wat trip and my experiences in Cambodia.
I am very proud to have accomplished one more item on my to-do list before I die.
Located in Cambodia, #angkorwat is the largest ancient city you can see with its huge dimensions 🇰🇭
Spread over 500 hectares.
Angkor Wat is important enough to be a symbol of a country and to shed light on civilization.
It is so important that even the flag of #cambodia has a picture of the temple🇰🇭
The name Angkor wat is a combination of the Khmer words “angkor” meaning city and “wat” meaning temple, meaning temple city.
Angkor wat is one of the rare ancient cities whose ruins have survived to the present day with little destruction. The biggest reason for this is that Angkor remained in tropical forests for centuries after the Khmer kingdom, which moved its capital to Phnom Penh, left this city.
King II. Suryavarman had it built as a Hindu temple and dedicated it to the god Vishnu. However, with its rediscovery, it was converted into a buddhist temple as a result of pressure.
There are reliefs and sculptures depicting the Khmer people of the Khmer period on the walls, towers, and bridges of the temple.
Although how long the city waits to be discovered is the subject of various legends, it was Henri Mouhot's trip and notes that made it popular.
After Mouhot, who is accepted to have discovered Angkor in the 19th century, for nearly a century, the city of Angkor was cleared of lush tropical plants and vines and brought to light.
The 5 towers in the middle of the temple symbolize Mount Meru, which is important for Hinduism.
Angkor wat is a magnificent depiction of paradise on earth, with over half a million tons of stone used.
Angkor Wat Temple: The Glorious Pearl of World Heritage
Angkor Wat Temple is one of the most impressive structures in human history, rising deep in the mysterious forests of Southeast Asia, near the Cambodia city of Siem Reap, among the ruins of the historical Khmer Empire. Taking its name from the word Angkor, meaning "Temple City", Angkor Wat continues to fascinate its visitors with its enormous dimensions, fine craftsmanship and mystical atmosphere. In this article, we will provide information about the history, architecture and cultural significance of Angkor Wat Temple.
Historical Roots
Angkor Wat Temple was built by the 12th-century king of the Khmer Empire, II. It was built by Suryavarman. Its construction date is estimated between 1113-1150. The temple is located in the center of Angkor (now Siem Reap), the capital of the Khmer Empire. Angkor Wat was originally designed as a Hindu temple and is dedicated to the god Vishnu. However, in later periods, the temple was also used for Buddhist beliefs.
Architecture and Features
Angkor Wat is one of the most spectacular examples of traditional Khmer architecture. The temple complex is considered one of the largest religious monuments in the world and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1992.
The temple is built on a rectangular area and covers an area of 1,626,000 square meters. The architectural structure is surrounded by walls and moats in and around the temple complex. The temple has a five-tower structure surrounded by "prasats", a high central tower. The number of towers is due to the fact that in Hindu mythology the five mountains were believed to be carried by the gods.
As you move towards the temple complex from the entrance gate, you are greeted by walls decorated with magnificent reliefs that fascinate visitors. These reliefs describe historical events, mythological stories and scenes of temple construction. Also noteworthy are the many obelisks and statues in the temple complex.
Cultural and Religious Significance
Angkor Wat has great importance both religiously and culturally. The temple played a central role in the spread of Hinduism and later Buddhism in Cambodia. It is a place where Hindu and Buddhist beliefs fuse in harmony.
This enormous temple has become one of the national symbols of Cambodia and is also used on the country's flag.
However, this intense tourist interest and increasing number of visitors bring some difficulties in terms of preservation and restoration of the temple. Erosion, weather conditions and the effects of time are among the factors that threaten the structural integrity of Angkor Wat. Therefore, the Cambodian government and international organizations are working to preserve the temple.
Angkor Wat Temple is a structure that arouses worldwide admiration for its cultural and architectural richness. It continues to fascinate its visitors with its history and mystical atmosphere that has lasted for hundreds of years. As Cambodia's largest treasure chest, Angkor Wat will continue to be an important symbol for preserving humanity's common heritage and passing it on to future generations.

You seem really like angkor wat !! I also went there !!
