Had you visited beaches while at Sydney, you would have found public pools at many beaches as well as. These pools have saltwater. A good alternative for people who do not wish or cannot enter the beach. But yeah, you don't swim in the beaches up the top end of Australia.

@@TheKoalaMamaTravels awww that's awesome to hear. My wife's mum has raised lots of orphaned native animals. Mostly baby kangaroos ( Joey's) even though she has developed a bit of an allergy . I'm not sure if she's had anything to do with koalas but she did have a sugar glider once. They are very cute little furballs that can jump from tree to tree gliding using flaps of skin between their legs. Looks like a wingsuit. So glad you loved Queensland. It's a great place to visit.
