I do love the interaction between Goku and Frieza here. Frieza’s one liners and provado just not registering with Goku, and he slowly loses his mind from it
I play a lot of video games. After this episode, whenever I have a remote attack weapon, I can never not say "Go, my children" like Goku. I just can't not say it! It fits so perfectly when I release an attack drone to annoy my enemies. There's another line, but I won't spoil it. But come that episode, I'll let you know what it is and the circumstances in which I drop the line.
They don't really explain it in the abridged, but the reason it seems like freeza is never hurt after goku manages to land a good hit is because he's only using like 10 or 20 percent of his power or whatever. So every time goku gets the upper hand, freeza just starts trying a little harder and kicks his ass again.
Indeed. The only time he felt even slightly threatened was against the Kaioken x20 Kamehameha. But even then, it was just one blast that took a ton of Goku's power to unleash. So while that was the moment when Frieza decided to start taking the fight a bit more seriously, it's not like it's something Goku could replicate without practically destroying himself. Of course here, Frieza just brushed it off the same as everything else.
They didn't explain it in Abridged, but what happens is usually your spirit goes to Other World (Heaven or Hell) and leaves your body behind, like Vegeta and the Namekians. However, if you are judged worthy, you get to keep your body in the afterlife, and use it to train on places like King Kai's planet. That is what happened to Goku when he died, so that is why he spawned from Heaven, rather than re-surfaced in his actual body. Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo all had the same happen to them. That is why when Piccolo was revived he had to be physically moved from King Kai's Planet to Namek, he didn't respawn in his corpse on Earth, since it along with the other three, wasn't there anymore, they were in them on King Kai's. That latter option is the cause of some issues because if the person is revived in Heaven with their body, they need to manually be brought back to Earth, granted sometimes the Dragons will do this as an additional curtousy. But that was the reason Goku was late to the Saiyan fight, because he was brought back to life just before Nappa and Vegeta arrived, and so needed to run all the way back to King Yemma's.
That whole thing has always been a bit screwy. Especially since it was originally implied that the reason Goku got to keep his body was because Kami retrieved it after he died. Whereas later, it's described as something that simply happens if one is deemed worthy of keeping their body as a result of their life's actions.
The rules for revival don't exist in this series. Goku gets ressurected while still in Otherworld, everyone else regularly wakes up where they died exactly, except Goku (and Krillin). Whether or not they had bodies in Otherworld never really seems to matter. Like, even villains in Hell keep their whole bodies, but on revival show up as sliced to pieces when revived on Earth. None of it makes sense.
@@gurvmlkWell, its implied to be an approval process, Kami advertised Goku to go to King Kai's based on information he knew, Yemma and King Kai weren't involved in that process. Later, King Kai can bypass Yemma and decide who gets their body since he's in-charge of that quadrant. King Kai even said that he can decide where Krillin gets revived as long as its in his jurisdiction. King Kai also scolds himself for the screw-up with the Saiyans. Implying most of the decision making process lies with the Kai of the quadrant you die in.
@@nm2358 The "bodies" you see in Hell are still not physical, so it is actually correct. When Freeza for example is cursing his state in Hell, that isn't a physical body. You see the same thing with them walking around in Heaven that you can clearly see they look like physical bodies, but some even has waspy tails. So the appearance is more inconsistent then things like physical body and spiritual body. In theory they should all be identical souls like the ones waiting at the gates of King Yemma's.
Freeza is one of Dbzas triumphs. They made him so funny while remaining intimidating and in character And of course a lot of the credit goes to the voice actor, Little Kuriboh.
Usually, once a character dies in DragonBall Z, they are not mentioned again. The team got a lot of mileage by referring to passed characters. (Apule says, "Here I come, Ichpe!" When Ichpe barely had his name mentioned in the one scene he had before being killed. Frieza just said, "I miss Zarbon." Who, officially never got a reference until DragonBall Super.)
Goku once upon a time in Dragon Ball fires a Kamehameha from his feet. Toriyama (creator of Dragonball) will do whatever he thinks is cool a lot of the time when it comes to where folks fire their laser-beams (though its mostly their hands or mouths). As far as resurrection works, it's whatever Toriyama wants. Folks pop up where they died, they'll pop up in heaven, they'll be fully healed or in multiple pieces, or in a different place. Dragonball plays super-loose with what the Dragon ultimately does with a wish, or can or can't do with a wish.
Vegeta's speech to Goku isn't too far off from the original. Except in the original, Vegeta essentially admitted that Frieza was the reason he turned out the way he did, having been given no choice about the man he became. Rather than here, where he took credit for being evil through no fault of Frieza. As for Frieza's eye lasers, pretty much anybody can fire ki blasts from any part of their body. They just usually use their hands because they're the easiest to utilize. Heck, once way back in the original Dragon Ball, Goku even fired a Kamehameha from his feet.
@@Echo-nn8dt I know, right? It wouldn't be much of a reaction if there was no commentary that's bound to miss some of the jokes. Especially with how rapid-fire the jokes in DBZA are.

That's why I think Goku's stupidity is partly a bit.
It's crazy how much better the abridge series gets episode to episode in this arc

1% if the dub I watched was accurate

I'm so glad they're enjoying this, especially the villains. The villains are so well written that everyone just has to love em

You can keep you're body in death under special circumstances. Kami vouched for Goku and his friends.
