I do like the message "go see and learn and then come back and raise awareness". For me awareness of issues is the major barrier to changing my actions. With U.S. mainstream media being owned by so few people, the issues the public is exposed to are limited and what is covered is often biases. Understandably network television is trying to make money and keep sponsors, so a story on how cell phone materials are causing poverty and war in other countries probably will not make it on the 6pm news. If mainstream media is letting us down, we have to seek out what is happening around us.
Well, he made some good points, but on the other hand, his connections seemed tenuous. It's like he took some basic truths and extrapolated them to the extreme. But... even if I don't entirely agree, I'm glad to have heard his perspective.
