JACKSON is By the way, Amazing dancer, truly underrated. You should do more of his solo stuff, and some of the clips from the Chinas Dance crew show where he was a "mentor". He is FIRE!
Do you know he was an Olympian Fencer when he was 17 and was number one in Asian Youth Championship. He quit his career as an athlete, went to South Korea and trained to be an idol, a member of the group GOT7. He worked so hard to be a great performer in every aspect.
Highly suggest you to watch him on the dance show « HOT BOOOD DANCE CREW » that he won it was incredible. He also participated in street dance China and also one a prize. His group mate from GOT7 also Won a dance show that’s called « hit the stage » with YUGYEOM which was hell dope too. I hope you’ll get to react to these and also Jackson Yugyeom with the group GOT7.
I really wanted him to know and react to street dance of China, lay, Jackson, yibo and Wallace participated and it was a legit dance competition with competition dancers, with dance battles and all of that
Hey! really liked your reaction! I'll try to explain the story as simply as I can (part 1 the myth that inspired the mv / part 2 analyse of the mv itself): PART 1 MYTH The MV is inspired by the Chinese myth of the Butterfly lovers. Zhu Yingtai comes from a rich family, she wants to study but she's a girl so she cannot because of their culture. She decides to dress like a boy and her father accepts to let her go to school. There she meets Liang Shanbo, they become best friends but she starts to fall in love with him. Sadly, after a few years, her father sends her a letter to ask her to come back to their family, she then reveals her identity to her teacher and ask them to give Liang a jade pendant as a betrothal gift. Liang accompagnes her during the 18 miles walk, she tries to let him know that she's a girl by giving hints but he doesn't seem to understand so she decides to act as a matchmaker between him and her "sister". Therefore when he visited her family, he discovered a pretty young lady and decided to ask Zhu's hand right away because of all the years they lost, they make a vow "till death do us apart". The thing is they get told that Zhu is promised to a rich man. Liang is heartbroken and dies from it. On the day of Zhu's marriage to Ma, strong winds prevent the wedding procession from escorting the bride beyond Liang's grave, which lies along the journey. Zhu leaves the procession to pay her respects at Liang's grave. She descends in bitter despair and begs for the grave to open up. Suddenly, the grave opens with a clap of thunder. Without further hesitation, Zhu throws herself into the grave to join Liang. Their spirits emerge in the form of a pair of butterflies and fly away together, never to be separated again. PART 2, the MV!: In the MV, Jackson is a military leader who's being brought back to life by his four loyal soldiers after they did a ritual because that is the promise they made (to always protect their leader and use their powers to bring him back). Jackson once brought back to life only has one goal, to find his lover's grave to bring her back to life. You see his loyal soldiers and him walking through broken trees due to their powerful energies. They make it to the grave which is located somewhere very pretty / luxurious, letting us know that she comes from as rich family (he came back from the forest in the middle of other tombstones). Jackson and his soldiers do the ritual again to bring her back to life but to do it and help Jackson the 4 loyal soldiers sacrifice themselves as it requires a lot of energy (that is why the 4 of them fall). Jackson has now enough energy and powers to bring his lover back to life, that is what he does. She comes back to life with really luxurious and expensive clothes, proving this time that she comes from a rich and honourable family whereas Jackson was covered in dirt. This is an hint as to why they weren't buried together (usually lovers are buried together), because they weren't married, she was with a man of her "kind" and he died alone (explaining the "There's a hundred ways to leave a lover (her husband that she doesn't actually love), I'm the only one that you need (he, that she's in love with despite him not being rich or successful like her family would want him to be). Once they're reunited, he holds her in his arms and proceeds to do the ritual one more time to bury them together as they're finally together and can rest peacefully instead of resurrecting her to live together because there's no actual proofs that they'd be able to live together, so they die together instead, in the arms of one another. I hope at least someone read this or I would've wrote if for nothing haha, hope it helped or whatever :D
I was saying, "You'll see," the whole time until you did, and not only that, you got the concept more or less right! He explained it as such in the Behind-the-Scenes video: "I'm like this warrior, I fell in love with this girl. Apparently the prince also fell in love with this girl. So then he had me killed and then I've been waiting for like a thousand years. And then, finally I get to meet her. It's basically like the Chinese Romeo and Juliet, I would say, I would describe it." And then he released "100 Ways Jackson Wang LOVES YOU," which is just him jamming around in an apartment to the song, to celebrate "100 Ways" breaking into the Top 30 of US pop radio.
Jackson said this is a Chinese Romeo and Juliet story, he was a worrier and the king fell in love with his love and had him killed so his guys rose him from the grave a 1000 years later so he can be with his love forever!
I dont know what you mean by LATE? If he started training 2011 he mustve danced even before that, that means he has definetly danced 10+years and since he is only 25 or 26, I wouldnt call that late..
@@jennaeveliina313 No, Jackson didn't have any dance training/background before joining JYPE in 2011, he just practised like crazy and improved in a very short time to get where he is right now. But he did win first place in the JYPE dance auditions - I guess he has dancing in his blood lol I agree with OP that he started dancing late because in 2011, he was 17 years old, while his group mates like Bambam (for example) have been dancing since they were very young, like 5 years old, and Bambam also trained at JYPE since he was around 10 years old.
Jackson has done several performance videos with kinjaz in China (Jackson is from Hong Kong). Kinjaz has also many performances there also. China has alot of dance performance competitions and Kinjaz has even opened a studio there I think. I really enjoy their UA-cam channel. Jackson does have his own unique style. He is a solo performer as a vocalist, and some of his work has dancing in it (Pretty Please). He is also a rapper with GOT7. They have some very sharp mv choreo (Hard Carry, Not By the Moon, You Calling My Name,)
You need to check out Jacksons dance performance in Street dance of China , hot blood dance, and many more. He is a very good dancer! A all-rounder artist.
Yep, the "stiffness" is because of the concept - regal/warrior concept - glad you watched the music video too to see that. The dance practice you watched was for the stage performance you watched at the end haha. Jackson is very hands-on with everything he does: he writes the treatment for his music videos and writes the lyrics, composes and arranges his music. He even edits his MVs sometimes, he produced, directed and wrote the script for his Pretty Please MV. All his MV concepts are sick!
One thing about Jackson that I admired so much is his professionalism to the point that he will forget about his injury once he starts performing. You can watch his performance on hbdc ep 1 for that.
Yes, the dance practice you saw for Jackson's "100 Ways" was a practice for a performance Jackson did for a recent Chinese award show. What you saw wasn't choreography being created by Jackson, but he was explaining the dance to the backup dancers who were part of the performance. The Kinjaz worked with Jackson on his own, and after they all perfected it, Jackson took it back to his studio and taught it to the backup dancers. You should really check out the second half of that live performance, with the dance break section that he performed right after "100 Ways" ua-cam.com/video/8EWmBeD_4gs/v-deo.html. Jackson has 100% control over all aspects of his solo work because he owns it all himself. It's all part of his company. The Kinjaz have done a lot of projects with Jackson and several of his recent projects are in collaboration with them. To hear the Kinjaz members explain what it was like on the set of "100 Ways" and the whole process working with Jackson, check out the Kinjaz UA-cam channel and this video: ua-cam.com/video/NNSOvgjjXg0/v-deo.html. Fun fact: If you watch Jackson's MV for his song "Pretty Please," at the end of that MV you will see there is behind the scenes footage where Jackson talks about how "100 Ways" and "Pretty Please" are connected and he explains the storylines in both MVs in more detail.
Jackson said that the video was ancient "Romero and Juliet". They buried separately and he wanted to be with her. You should check out his other song and video connected to this one called "Pretty Please." That is if you haven't already. Add to the fact that at the end of the live preformance he added a dance move from his other song to this one to connect them more. He also does commentary at the end of "Pretty Please." Jackson "stiffness" is not just his style; it is probably also due to having been a world class, literally, fencer. He was world ranked 11th at the 2010 Junior Olympics and 1st Asian Junior Junior Championship in 2011. He gave up a scholarship to Stanford and the Olympics to follow his dream of being a K-pop star. Emeroy, it felt like I was waiting a week for this 😅 since I missed the stream. Thanks so much for sharing this. Jackson Wang is a superstar. I think his professional fencing background affects his lack of fluidity in the spine / ability to be super stiff.
