  • Warroora Station aka ‘Warra’
    one of our favourite campsites of the trip!
    ‘14 mile’ was our first campsite on the station, as we used this as a base to explore Coral Bay. We came in via the northern entrance which was a little corrugated, but nothing dramatic. Despite all the ‘4WD only’ and ‘lower your tyre pressure’ signs, we thought, it was easy as to drive onto the beach sites. Due to the popular nature of the camp spot, the sand was very compact and it was like driving on tar.
    14 Mile
    Now, for only $100 for the week, we camped at site ‘S’ along the waterfront. The ocean was only metres away from our front door. During our 10 days at 14 mile it was very windy. We used the vehicles and caravan as wind barriers and setup a ‘cocoon’ as such. Fires were allowed, but they had to be contained to a fire pit and you also had to BYO wood, as collecting on the station was banned.
    It was a very social 10 days, with ourselves, CamperAustralis & the Roving Russos having delish food, sundowners and card games galore all week long. Even some mates from the sunny Coast, dropped in for a few nights on their travels. It definitely made our stay at 14 mile much more enjoyable with great company.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Extract from Warrooras website
    Warroora Station is a family run station offering eco-friendly wilderness beach camping as well as a variety of accommodation options. Warroora's location is truly breathtaking with miles of secluded beaches and fringed by the World Heritage Ningaloo Reef.
    14 Mile offers a spectacular camping experience for all travellers. It is the only wilderness camping area on Warroora Station that is accessible for 2 wheel drive vehicles.
    Those with 4x4's are able to camp right on the beautiful white sands of the beach, with the calm protected waters inside the Ningaloo Reef only meters from your camp.
    Launch your boat (very small dinghy) right off the beach outside your door, what more could you ask for in a wilderness camping location!
    For those with 2 wheel drive, there are many camping areas very close to the ocean on the firm ground offering stunning views of the reef and easy access to the sea.
    14 Mile is a "must visit" for anyone wanting to experience the raw natural beauty of the Ningaloo Coastline.

    The wind can be a real shocker up there. We used to go up to Cleaverville for 3 months of the year and on average we only got out in the boat 19 days out of all that time. Are there any more sheltered spots at 14 Mile suitable for a camper trailer? I certainly wouldn't want to try and camp right on the beach with the strong winds.

    • @Sparkysontheloose
      @Sparkysontheloose  5 років тому

      There's heaps of spots more sheltered. We wished we had braved it sooner as you will see in the next episodes 😁🤙

      Haha! Not much hate at the moment, but we are ready for it if it comes :P. There's a lot of greenies in Aus, so we have to be very careful with what we do. There's also the indigenous people/areas where we have to be careful about showing as well. Makes it hard to enjoy yourself but the rules are there to keep everyone happy. Glad you enjoyed it.

      Undoubtedly we must respect, so that they respect us, ignore and despise those who distill hatred, has always been the best weapon of the educated! Without doubt, filming, preparing and publishing a video is a lot of work, there are few channels with quality, yours is of great quality! Life is short, have fun!

    • @Sparkysontheloose
      @Sparkysontheloose  5 років тому

      Just a bit of door mesh from bunnings, really strong and just bolted to the door so Rusty always have air and is protected from theft. Heres a more in depth video ua-cam.com/video/j2aSNjjqlxs/v-deo.html

    Hey guys, great vids, we are planning our exmouth trip, your videos have been super helpful. Can I ask what time of year this was? We’ve been told warrora station and 14 mile in particular can get super busy... ningaloo station quieter... we are looking at going August/sept if wa open the borders.

    • @Sparkysontheloose
      @Sparkysontheloose  4 роки тому

      Cheers James, this was November 25th 2018. Out of season because it gets windy, we drove through July last year and it was like a caravan park. Sometimes its best not to travel with the herd.

    • @jamesmanna1
      @jamesmanna1 4 роки тому +1

      @@Sparkysontheloose Hmm... from what you've seen/heard are all the campsites hectic in july/august or just the main 14 mile beach? Reckon Ningaloo will be quieter? We are hoping to travel up from adelaide (seeking warmth) but want to book well ahead to get a beach front site, trying to hedge our bets on which camp ground to try for. Looking at spending 4 weeks up there, so a week at a few different sites restocking back in exmouth etc.

    • @Sparkysontheloose
      @Sparkysontheloose  4 роки тому

      Ningaloo will be just as busy in the popular camps, you may have to settle for an overflow. Can't really help with the booking saga, we always wing it and enjoy the moment. Most of the time the company makes it special, not the location.
