- YES I DID IT! I have signed the contract for Shadybrooks Red Don!! I said yes to life, to adventure, to myself.
I felt, this year it's time. I'm ready for my very own horse.
Then this horse came into my life. A young, wild boy. Not the kind of horse I was looking for, honestly. But something in him has touched my soul.
I have felt that connection from the very beginning - although we have lost it sometimes. With him, heaven and hell lie close together. I think this is why in the end, I decided to buy him.
Not because we're the perfect team. But because he challenges me, brings out the worth and the best in me. From the time I have spend with him, I feel a huge growth. As a horseperson, but also spiritually, emotionally and personally.
Not only once I cryed of frustration. Couldn't trust my own horse. That wasn't even long ago.. and won't be the last time.. but it's a path we go together. We develop together.
When I was walking many hundred of kilometers through France with him, I often looked to the side and saw his beautiful face. Ready for every adventure in front of us.
And I decided, this is the horse I want to spend many years of my life with. When you have won his heart, he would go through the fire for you.

His full name is Shadybrooks Red Don. He's a gelding, born 2014.
He is a BLM Mustang and grew up in wilderness.

Es ist so schön, dass auch mal deine Arbeit in den Fokus gerückt wird, liebe Bettina. Ihr beide habt euch gefunden und viele Hindernisse überwunden. Sicherlich warten noch viele Steine, die euch den Weg versperren möchten, jedoch hege ich keine Zweifel, dass ihr diese ebenso aus dem Weg räumen könnt♡

Nope. They are antiquated pain-producing instruments used by cowards, and people are finally figuring that out. Those who truly love their horses would never use such things - THEY'RE NOT NECESSARY. Many have proven that, just as in this video.

@@greydoe shoes can be helpful sometimes,although my horse is barefoot, I know some horses who wear shoes to help support their feet.
@@themagichaflinger4569 Please don't nail metal to your horse's feet. Shoes do not help, they hurt. My dad was a Vet, who spent years trying to educate people that "metal and horses do not go together." Note a wild horse's feet - Mustangs are known for their excellent feet. Something to think about. :)

ich weiß noch so gut, als Don und Sage damals zu euch kamen. Ich freute mich riesig über noch mehr Mustangs war gleichzeitig aber auch traurig weil ich mir sicher war dass beide auch wieder gehen würden. Dann hat Sage euch verlassen und ich fand es mega schade weil sie mir als so ein tolles Pferd vorkam und bestimmt auch war. Zu dem Zeitpunkt war mir Don noch gar nicht so aufgefallen. Jetzt bin ich einfach so glücklich dass er zu eurem Team gehört. Einfach weil ich mir sicher bin dass nun weitere super spannende GEschichten auf mich zukommen werden. Bettina habe ich es so gegönnt ihr Herzenspferd gefunden zu haben

reminds me so much of our horse MAYA ! questioning everything and trusting nothing . fast athletic , beautiful . ears flat most of the time , and a right bitch to our other horses !! often wondered why we keep her ??? she has come a long way and tested my limits of patience !! such a determined strong character and yet scared and insecure at times . its been a long road with a difficult horse but I would never part with the crazy girl !

I've been breaking an Arab for the past year and I was so frustrated because he just didn't want to do anything. We used whips, we kicked, squeezed, jabbed, everything to get him to walk a complete circle around the ring, or even in a straight line... I started watching you guys and how you work with them, and I stopped the riding for about 2 months. I did groundwork, lunging, and liberty. We played games and had fun... I can now say that we have started to trust each other more, and we are taking baby steps to a trail ride. We can walk around the arena (almost without stopping haha), without a saddle, and just an indian bosal (I ditched the bit because I had this recurring feeling that that was one of the issues). He is a different horse. He ENJOYS it. So to anyone out there in a standstill with your horse about ready to quit. Don't. Take some time to play and get to know each other... and watch these girls, because they have it figured out.
I have to say, the methods you admitted using on your horse was DEEPLY disturbing. Who does that these days? Information on equine communication and training has been blown wide open with the aid of technology/internet. Regardless, I'm glad you found a better way, especially for your horse's sake.
