Jimmy Staig's green bobber started out as a 1954 Triumph Thunderbird that he’d owned for around seven years. It was his daily ride and was the bike that introduced him to many of the other builders in Victoria’s vintage and custom bike scene. It was the bike he used to get around on while he built his other projects, but reworking the Thunderbird was always on the books. Then when the invitation came to display a vehicle at the Boogaloo Invitational he had the excuse he needed to get it done. Jimmy’s happy to admit he’s a big fan of the builds by Small City Cycles’ Todd Asin and the influence is clear with this bike. With Todd’s work in the back of his mind and a solid deadline to work towards he got cracking...
Filmed in Melbourne, Australia.

Hey! I enjoyed that. Took me back to the 70s when I was fascinated with choppers and Triumphs in particular. Nice music, too.
Thank you!
Thanks, we're glad you enjoyed it.
I'm just happy to know that other people here in Melbourne are enthused by and have a passion for bobber builds, and in particular pre unit Triumphs.
Every once in a while, I watch this, its great.
Beautiful. A work of art. I nearly painted my chopper that colour but ended up doing it copper metal flake. Stay safe 👍
This is hands down my all time favorite Triumph Chopper. Well done sir.
I hate the tail pipes. The bike is awesome!
Good looking green choice
Bike looks great, narrow as hell, great color also, i would love to see a springer front end on it, other than that. It’s dialed in, and looks perfect!
Love it. I owed a '78 that I customized in my earlier years and loved that bike. Yours is absolutely beautiful
You should be super proud of yourself. Good on ya brother
VERY nice bike!!
What a master piece,.that look so dope with that green,.
That is one sweet bike...Well done. Its a Gem.....
Gorgeous colors
I believe I see a can of One Shot lettering enamel on the shelf. Good stuff!
Great looking bike
Reminds me of my '63 T100 bobber, had chrome peanut tank, solo seat, etc. Lost oil, bent the crank, couldn't find a new one in the States. Ah, those old British bikes...
Sweet bike and lovely colour, love it!
Well done....Thumps Up.
Bravo !!! Très très belle machine.🇫🇷
I would imagine just leaving it alone from being exhausted and feeling people were critical telling you it's not really tough looking. I can imagine after a big Pursuit it takes time to settle down and enjoy something for what it is rather than what it's compared to by others.
Love old British bikes
Beautiful bike.
great clip.
Looks cool!
Great job!
Thanks Shane.
Awesome video brother
Save the Choppers! Lasst die Zeit einfach stillstehen. Setzen wir uns auf unsere Maschinen und fahren, fahren, fahren..........................
Beautiful bike
People cannot understand the fact that a hardtail with a strong solo seat is actually a comfortable combination. I have that set up on my Triumph TR6 and I ride 70 miles an hour all day. It's actually more comfortable than my Sportster that has actual shock absorbers.
Un vrai plaisir pour les yeux, merci
Good to see a Cast Iron Mag sticker ! Great bike man !
I rebuilt those mags back in the day.
Triumph hard-tail in a girl i grew up with (k-12, starting '63) fave color, lime green. I can dig it.
Super bike!
Wow it's ferry amazing,
I like it
looks comfy as fark to ride, good job!
Superbe garage et magnifique triumph
Thats sweet bro! 👍
Excellent job 👌👍
Lovely bike mate
Very nice bike Carnal
Nice video! And the Triumph is delicious. Extreme bobber - only the not extended front fork makes it a bobber. I have some pre-unit engine mech on my channel. In swedish - easy swedish!
wat a bike ! great job man
nice.
Not for me but it is killer. Great job.
Sweet bike and I swear it sounds alot like rock and roll going down the road! But I’ll bet those pipes sound alot sweeter!!
Damn
That's nice dude
welcome Yokohama ようこそ横浜へ がいいです!
Great looking bike..authentic as you say 60's. My only (slightly) negative thought is about the RHS shifter and hand LHS clutch setup. Cool to look at for sure and shifting by hand feels cool but as it is you would lose all engine speed as you make the shift...I guess you get used to it. I have one of the last Meriden Bonneville T140 before Harris took over production in the early eighties but man, I sure love your chopper.
I sold my '68 T100c that I chopped to buy my new '78 Bonny T140e. Square Amals and last year of Kickstart. Still have it, now I'm 72.
Sweet
fu..ing great..i want it.. love it.. thank you
Thanks for watching.
that's so cool
Nice
Triumph rule Harley drool.
Q moto linda classic👏🇺🇸🇧🇷☠🏁
Perfeita! :D
cool!
Nice I had a tiger t100 I hard tail with a coffin tank and a Harley Davidson Springer front-end when I put it in first gear and twisted the throttle the bike would wheelie without me even trying to
Nice scooter.
Una belleza
where did you get the front fork spring covers? thanks
Love that look not a fan of green but damn that's cool
not a big fan of a sissy bars, but man, this is a gorgeous ... and that colour
Jimmy's certainly done a great job with this bike.
Great looking bike in every way , The handle bars are perfect for this bike, what is the size and make of the thees bars?
+nielsbjørn Christensen Hey, thanks for watching. You could try to contact Jimmy via Instagram... @jimmy_s____.
How many inch is that handlebar ? Look so good !
I'm not a big fan of triumphs... but Damn I love this one!
✌😎
Hey mate, absolutely incredible build! I’ve just bought a 51 6t engine and 54 frame and I’m drawing quite a bit of I inspiration from your build. What rise are the handlebars? Gives the bike exactly the 60s look I want.
🏆🏆🏆
Saw you packing tools...you have them on you for that ride? If so, where?
How did you get a blue slip without blinkers and horn??
👍👍👍
Manson and So Cal Skate stickers. If not for the accent and everyone being on the ‘wrong’ side of the road I’d swear this was California.
Did you fabricate the pipes? Cocktail shakers look awsum.
I've never seen one of those bikes with a suicide shift... is that factory or aftermarket? Really cool ride!
No that's not factory but it's a "British" Engine, the Shift Lever is on the right instead of left side so it's easier to mount a suicide shifter
what did you use for a front end and rear fender on this bike.
That's a stock frontend with fork covers. And the rear fender is a standard ribbed fender lots of companies make them for whatever size tire your running
I WANT ONE
左手クラッチで、ハンドシフト?
Does anyone know what boot he is wearing?
Would love some advice on building a triumph chopper. I’ve got a 69 Bonnie
Just do it.Id like to keep my original stuff just in case I'd want to put it back someday.
6869 Triumph Bonneville leave it alone you have a jewel
I'm thinking of doing something similar with my 59' Triumph Thunderbird. Advice is nice.

🤤🚬 look really awesome
Tasteful decisions mate. Wow. Is that an 18" rear and 19" front or 21" front? What tire combo? Tires are a great finish.
What tires are those btw? Very stealth lettering.
Jimmy front looks like an Avon Speedmaster. is it a 3.00-19" or a 3.50- 19"?
Is that a 4" wide fender? Can't seem to find a 4" wide ribbed fender anywhere.
超〜カッコいい!
(๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)
Left brake an right foot shifting??
They were like that until 1973
name of the last tune please!!!
Travel to Space by the Honeycutts
The thumbs down are all from soy boys cool bike man
I’m thinking of getting a chop,, how are those sprung seats for comfort?
Depends on spring length. 3" is firm,5" is like a cloud, but pogos a bit
song name ?
Great bike, but Thunderbirds never had alloy heads. Maybe T110 or Trophy etc.
Wish the sold this motorcycle without engine and transmission but everything else that’s on it and add a speedometer than operated of the front wheel and turn indicators and headlight if it don’t have already on it so that it could truly street legal and a sprocket system that handle go kart chain causes if I had a setup like this motorcycle I would put a predator 420 key start and up the maximum rpm of the engine to 4200 with a torque converter transmission that can handle 18 horsepower on it with a 50 tooth rear sprocket and either a 15 or 17 tooth sprocket on the transmission side
Mow Money Mods I live in the USA this bike would not be street here no lights and speedometer means it’s not ready for legal street use.
@@electricdeckhead3083 I'm thinkin adding turn indicators and speedometer would make the bike safer. Considering the number of motorcycle accidents each year and no motorcycle is to old to have a speedometer.
Mow Money Mods in the USA I’ve seen countless number of older motorcycles built before 2005 with predator 212 to 420 that are completely street legal even seen a few front wheel drive cars and compact trucks with predator 670 or kohler diesel and Kubota Diesel engines that are street legal.
@@electricdeckhead3083 yeah but you're missing out on the fine art of customization imagine taking a 1978 Honda Cb350 four with the only problem with it is a seized up motor and a burnt transmission but the rest of the bike is fine and in working order but finding a OEM engine and transmission would cost you 2500 dollars but you can get it back up and running for less than 1200 dollars all you need is a predator 420cc engine which costs about 400 dollars and a CVT transmission for 450 dollars only needs a little frame modification to bolt the engine and transmission to the frame and removing the engine fuel tank and upgrade the intake and exhaust system once you done all that work you now have a motorcycle that any one can ride because of the CVT transmission no need to shift gears and no clutch lever to deal with the clutch lever and cable could be modified to become the rear brake lever no more foot activated one which is a good thing for someone who has prosthetic legs no shifting gears or rear brake pedal to deal with. Basically the motorcycle is now a fully automatic witch is good for beginners or older riders you can just enjoy riding and not having to worry about shifting gears which will lessen fatigue of longer riding especially in city areas and a lot of stop and go traffic. Industrial engines are better built than automotive engines because a industrial engine have a cast iron sleeve and are a 2 valve push rod setup which can run for hours at 3600 to 4000 RPM'S which is at full throttle and with good maintenance can last for years without having to many problems other than spark plug replacements every other year and having a very simple carburetor that anybody can repair if necessary.
Really nice, but that's not a 1954 6T engine. The 1954 had an iron head, not aluminum. Also the 54 had a generator, not an alternator.
There's always that one guy and its u but
@@Chopper650 The one guy who actually knows what is what?
右チェンジめちゃんこシブい
He doesnt look very comfy or confident on this . Nice bike tho
Did ya see that turn signal, he needs a bigger bike.
You put it on a trailer ? Why not rode to the show ? Pussy.
