In case of partially restricted expansion (when there is gap Y), the contraction due to reaction from wall i.e. 'del L' is taken as = P.L/A.E. In this expression, where L is the original length, should not the value be considered as 'L + del LT' as the original length because the free expansion has taken place and original length is increased? Isn't the compressive force reducing this total length after free expansion?
The original length of member is less than 'L' . After expansion it attains full Length i.e L . So the resisting will be happening over length L . I guess .
It isn't free to expand so..It is trying to expand.... In the process of expanding,The wall is exerting some force therefore the original length is L only
Sir ur explanation is good just have 1 suggestion that your video is of 40 min its ok but but writing and understanding takes around 1.5 hrs its better if u upload notes of the same what u r teaching a small handy notes with some questions
sir, incase of wall from both the sides, you have equated change in length calculated from hookes law to that we obtain from epsilon(t) formua. But hookes law may not be applicable as temperature is changed. please explain!
when we are finding the contraction in the bar due to the force P why do we take the length of the member to be "L" , it should be "L+dL" or is it the assumption that dL
Sir yadi partially restricted ke case me ham gap create nahi kare aur nahi wall lagaye toh vaha free expansion hoga aur jab aaisa hoga to stress ka value zero ho jayega. Aapke according partially restricted ke case me stress ka value zero nahi hona chahiye lekin aaisa ho raha hai jab ham na gap rakhe aur na wall lagayen. aaisa kyo ?

A rod is enclosed centerlly in a tube and the assembly is tightened by rigid washer if the assemble is subjected to a comprehensive load then? Ans :both rod and tube are under compression . Sir plz tell me how
Ya offcourse strain is independent but stress is dependent on strain so its not necessary if there is strain then their must be stress as it is independent but ya if there is stress then their must be strain (individual ,net can be zero)
Sir jab slender bar ko dono taraf support provide Karne k bad temperature increase Karne par lateral dimensions me strain Nahi aa Sakta Jo hamne pehle neglect Kiya tha kyunki prominent diamension length tha kyunki ki bar slender tha To ab jab length par supports aa Gaye hai to material non prominent lateral diamension SE expand hone Ka try Nahi Kar sakta
You are born to be a teacher😝 thanks for clearing my concepts
Thank you sir!! You are the best teacher ever!
Sir your are best explainer everything is clear about thermal stresses ✌️✌️😊
Waoh.... What a teachers in this world
Very nice video lecture sir
It's very greatttt and I am much thankful to u Venugopal sir and Gate Academy Plus. Ur explaining techniques is just great

I think since 'del l' is small it is neglected
So as delT also changing for delL(for thermal stresse developed)
It isn't free to expand so..It is trying to expand.... In the process of expanding,The wall is exerting some force therefore the original length is L only
Same question someone please answer this?
your teaching style is wonderful

Jb gap nhi rkhenge aur nahi wall to wo free expansion ka case bn jayega na fir apka doubt kya hai isme?
THANKU SIR...😊

Thank U Sir
Sir it's not necessary that for partially restricted, thermal stress is not equal to zero because if Gap is greater than thermal expansion
Sir please IES K conventional question bhi krwa do.
Sir lecture 16 video is missing
So in case of free expansion, there is strain but zero stress. Hence, strain may happen without stress, right?
Ya offcourse strain is independent but stress is dependent on strain so its not necessary if there is strain then their must be stress as it is independent but ya if there is stress then their must be strain (individual ,net can be zero)

if the member is fixed on both sides, by increasing temperature does the length increase or not?
No
Thermal stress in composite(steel and copper) system ka video banaye sir please
Sir theory of structure ka video share kigeye
Plz upload column lecture
Civil walo ka bhi dhyan rakiye sir
Thermal stress me resisting force hoga??
P is taken as a reaction force due to wall. But here metal is not giving any resistance to us . so interestingly there no resisting force.😋
Thermal stres part 2 lecture 16 is not available
