So speed skates don't have a "hollow" (what I've always heard it called) where you sharpen the blades with a concave? I sharpen my hockey boots at 3/8 of an inch (I'm an American goalkeeper). Always thought the "hollow" was critical to gripping the ice and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this sharpening method where it seems like the blade is being flattened. Thanks for the video!
I'm a Japanese who enjoys inline skating. Before running the course, I'm watching your video of a beautiful form and doing image training.
nice! I have just learnt how to sharpen blades myself.... a similar way as you. So I must be doing something right!
How many season do you typically get out of a pair of blades?

Speed skate blades aren't hollow. It doesn't go into the ice as much as hockey blades but it glides better on top of the ice :)
So they aren't C-shaped (when looking at them cross-sectionally with a microsope)? This would indeed explain a lot!
Best answer - our training is the worst part..., getting trained is always hard
