This is such an underrated UA-cam video of theirs. Totally off mic but still friggin killing it. Not to mention the song is a PTX original and it's soooooo good!
your success in PTX reactions comes from the fact that you feel the same way about PTX, as us Pentaholics feel about PTX. Yes, they are EXTREMELY talented but i think what makes them truly amazing is that they are all just good, honest people all around. For me, when i saw their Sing Off season for the first time, i balled like a little baby when they won even though i knew the outcome ahead of time. It felt like a family member won the competition and for me, i always get a feeling of pride whenever good people make it to their dreams.
I saw them do this in a private performance in 2019 with Matt. They usually do a private performance before their show for VIP. It was heartbreakingly beautiful. I cried my eyes out...Scott told me not to cry because I was going to make him cry. They are so talented and so, so incredibly kind.
What a lovely video - I totally agree with your comments about the hard work, effort and tenacity of the group - yes, they still seem humble and greatful for what they have, and always appreciate their fans! I'm not sure if you've seen the PTXperience videos, shot while they are on tour, going behind the scenes - very entertaining, and an insight into what goes on to get the concerts organised. Also, shows them battling colds/a broken foot/knee issues! They really do work hard at what they do. I'm a fan of the 'simpler' sounds - your accoustic vibe - but also enjoy their latest, more produced sound - it just shows they continue to grow, experiment and keep looking for what else they can bring to us, their fans. They are magic to me.
I love this song! When it comes up in my playlist rotation in the car, I'll usually sing along with Avi's part. On a really good day, I can actually hit it.
Doesn't have to react to them, but he needs to watch the PTXperience videos. And the airport video where they stop people in their tracks while rehearsing. And the one where the Trio is singing a song from their Trio days and Kevin and Avi enter the room and just join in.
SD - so many of us are requesting the "Recording of Evergreen", I hope it's on your list. It really highlights their love and mutual respect for each other, willingness to be a team player and HARD WORK which goes on behind the scenes. Really super interesting too.
You do have to wonder how everything aligned for this group to have got together and stayed the distance. I think it goes deeper than just the five of them. Their families have been with them right from the start and are lovely human beings too. They all know how to treat the people who helped get them where they are. I think the videos of the Pentacon 2016 and 2018 parents panel, show how much family and friends mean to them. With their talent and dedication added to that, it just elevates them way above the rest.
You echo my thoughts about PTX 100%. I just have to admire everything they’ve accomplished through their hard work and dedication to their dreams. They could so easily have disappeared after losing the promised record contract after they won The Sing Off. Maybe they realized they had gained many fans through the show and just wanted to give it a try (with their signature appearance on the couch(es)). That took guts! They could easily have fallen apart when Avi left the group, and certainly they lost some fans then, even when Matt joined the group. Their music and sound changed somewhat then, and not everyone was as enthusiastic about it (no criticism of Matt!). But they have stayed together and continue to amaze. They are phenomenal.
Please please do the recording of evergreen short film. You will love it. They recorded their latest Christmas album in two weeks and Kirstins bf recorded it.
I think you would enjoy the various Grammy Superfruit episodes. I think they really illustrate what you were talking about of them staying humble. There are 4, one recorded the day after each Grammy they won, and one of them 'unboxing' their first Grammy. They are sweet episodes. And yes, any other 'private performance' video! They do them at their shows for VIP ticket holders, so there are quite a few videos, but they tend to do the same songs so they are mostly Valentine, Take Me Home, & Daft Punk.
What stood out for me in the video was that their eyes were closed throughout (with the possible exception of Kristy, the eyelashes make it difficult to be sure and a quick flicker from Avi.) No visual cues. Probably interferes with the telepathy.
This is an original from their first original album. The album had Sing on it also. Sounds just like it sounded on the CD minus a little balancing and reverb. Just amazing what they can do. If I every win the lottery I would try and pay them enough to come sing for me and my friends.
Love you so much but watching the final performance and announcement of winner is so heartfelt ( you will get a bit misty eyed) is worth the twenty minutes
When they do summer tours (not since 2019), they do what the call the "State Fair" leg, which is mostly outdoor venues. This was the VIP private performance at one of the outdoor concerts.
Listening to you talking about these beautiful people... even if you don't share a reaction... @Saucy Dad I emphatically recommend you listen to their pre-Christmas album the Lucky Ones... you'll absolutely hear what you were saying about how humble and grounded they still are... I bawl like a baby listening to the title song. I truly hope you listen to the album.
This song is one of their originals off of their first all orginal album from 2015. In 2020 when everyone was stuck at home ptx made a 6 song ep called Home that they all recorded separately from their own homes. Videos recorded separately too on their iPhones. Then pieced together by an editor. The 1st song they released was a Home medley of songs all having to do with home or house. A few they had done in Wizard of Ahhhs but we were all surprised when they threw this one in there too and let their own song be part of a medley of different songs. All the songs from that ep are worth checking out. They all. got videos too except their song cologne. Still worth listening to as it's incredible. Especially for an a capella group. Matt and Kevin really shine in it too.
Love the "At Home" EP! They sound amazing, and it's even more impressive considering how they recorded and videoed all their parts without being able to hear each other. All 6 songs are fire, and they have videos for five of them.
Hello Saucey Dad, So nice to see these videos. There are quite a few where PTX are siting in a stairwell singing a verse or two of one of their songs and also a nice compilation of these. Also, clips of them backstage singing or in somebody's living room and even one with them on the street just singing with a parked car behind them.
Did you notice that Kevin was signing? I really enjoyed this video, I haven't heard it before so thanks for sharing this with us. I really appreciate your reactions.
They also have private performaces of Daft Punk and Valentine I HIGHLY reccommend watching... personally i perfer Valentine but their "acoustic" version of Daft Punk shows off how impressive they are.
Love their off mic performances. They are mostly from their early days, and they are great. But if you want to see them still kill it off mic there are newer ones as well. Mostly in stairwells. This is a nice compilation: ua-cam.com/video/u00qMgj4I_o/v-deo.html
I also like this compilation of off mic. ua-cam.com/video/5EQ85eWXSl4/v-deo.html. You also need to see the "Making of Evergreen" ua-cam.com/video/M60SKKkQLqo/v-deo.html
My favorite performance of this song is the one they did for Matt's childhood private lessons teacher. ua-cam.com/video/HJTKBGao5Vo/v-deo.html You can tell how touched he is about her effect on his life and how proud she is of her star pupil. and Mitch is wearing a very huggable shirt.
You really want to checkout the new upload by Tomi P and Efe Sayin. It's called Avi Kaplan Medley and there is a small cameo at the end by a Nashville bass you will recognize.
I see I am late to the party, so this probably won't be seen. I highly recommend the PTX tiktok compilation that someone put together. If you like live, you will love it. Maybe a patron could request it.
Great reaction. Love your appreciation of hard work. You should watch "Pentatonix- Recording of Evergreen. You can see their effort of trying to reach perfection in making this album.
Another commentor mentioned Walk Off the Earth. I'd like to second that request. You should check out their cover of Gotye's Somebody that I Used To Know. All 5 of them playing one guitar while singing! And sounds great!
About the timing, etc... Look again; they achieve that timing, all of those synchronized harmonies, with nobody directing them - they are not even looking at each other.
I’m a little concerned that with 150 patroons getting 1 request per month, that’s three reactions a day. You are not going to have time for people that are not paying for your reactions. There are only going to be more patrons coming, I’m sure. I didn’t know this was going to be a pay for play type of deal. Home Free is my fav. But I have a few other groups that I know would blow your socks off! I would like to make a duplicate request for you to react to WOTE, Walk Off The Earth doing Hey Ya. It’s a good start. Please let me know if this is only a pay for play channel then I will stop requesting songs. I can’t afford to pay right now. I am in month 3 now for surgery recovery and you have helped distract me from my problems, thank You!
You should watch the making of EverGreen it’ll show you even more of their phenomenal work ethic. They are perfectionists and it shows.
Yes, I keep suggesting this too. Really highlights the team spirit, mutual respect and hard work!
Great that you can hear Avi so clearly. The bass often gets lost in the off 🎤 performances.
This is such an underrated UA-cam video of theirs. Totally off mic but still friggin killing it. Not to mention the song is a PTX original and it's soooooo good!
This clip has long been one of my favorites

There is one called, Pentatonix 'Sweet Dreams' ......this happened. It is in a cafe, someone just came up and asked them to sing, I love it
I saw them do this in a private performance in 2019 with Matt. They usually do a private performance before their show for VIP. It was heartbreakingly beautiful. I cried my eyes out...Scott told me not to cry because I was going to make him cry. They are so talented and so, so incredibly kind.

Agree with this whole comment!

Check out Graveyard by Mitch Grassi. It’s awhile back but amazing. Mitch, a mike, and a piano. Amazing!! I think you would love it👍

I like your opinion on them. They're so humble and friendly. It's so amazing that they keep improving from perfection
Pentatonix Gold is raw. I think you would like it.
Fantastic. I love these kind of performances too, just hanging out sounding unbelievable ✌🏽
What stood out for me in the video was that their eyes were closed throughout (with the possible exception of Kristy, the eyelashes make it difficult to be sure and a quick flicker from Avi.) No visual cues. Probably interferes with the telepathy.
This is a great one. You can hear them all
Great audio, even though it was recorded on a handheld. Fantastic harmonies.
This is an original from their first original album. The album had Sing on it also.

Yeah!! Great SD😁✌🏻, raw performances are 💯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a beautiful words SD to PTX, thank you for keeping up with PTX😌😌🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I hope with new management and new record lable gets them more success.

It’s scary how good they are live 😮😅😊❤❤

Their Hallelujah live performance for a television special is so great
Absolutely! Live is the best!

Loving this journey, SD!

Wow, just watched this and WOW, so great! SD really needs to watch this!
That is pure wonderfullness! If there's anything that could get me to bother with TikTok, it would be more of this.
I love this performance 🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰🤩🤩🤩🤩👍🏽🥳 I love when reactors discover these hidden treasures 🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great reaction.
Beautiful! There are some rare groups/artists who sound even better live then they do recorded. For me, PTX is one of those groups. I love them live!
That’s so funny, I noticed Scott’s shirt at the exact same time as you.

I think you might find the beginners guide to Pentatonix interesting to watch
Great reaction. Love your appreciation of hard work. You should watch "Pentatonix- Recording of Evergreen. You can see their effort of trying to reach perfection in making this album.
scott's shirt is a lyric from Beyonce's song Formation. Mitch and Scott are MASSIVE Beyonce fans. and even Kevin named his cello Beyonce.
If you cut the return performance on the Sing Off you will miss their interaction with the other groups including Homefree.
I know this is not what was happening but I can just see Mama Connie saying "hey we're having a block party. Can you drop by and sing a song?" Lol
Watch the making of Evergreen.... It shows you what they go through making the music
you should react to 'acapella kids' and 'citizen queen'
Aaand its an original
Btw...this is an original.
Recommend Kirstin’s acoustical version of her original, Break A Little. m.ua-cam.com/video/ZQdR8v5C6t4/v-deo.html
Excellent suggestion! She also did "Bad Weather" and "All Night" in the same set for that performance (for the Shadowlands Foundation).
