To me, this is the best one in the franchise. It was raw and intense, they way the camerawork was shot made you feel like you were in the game yourself
Absolutely. Tobin Bell took what was a relatively minor part (despite being the primary antagonist) in the first film and made one of film's most iconic characters out of it through sheer acting acumen. I don't think a single other soul could have brought Jigsaw to life the way Tobin did in this film, and Saw as a franchise (as well as horror as a genre) would have been worse off for it.
Shawnee Smith is an absolute legend for doing this grueling film while pregnant. Hell, her performance as Amanda in the first 3 films is singularly commanding, which is why Saw X already has a leg up on previous entries in my book. Honestly, if it was Amanda instead of Hoffman who survived to do Saw 4-7, the franchise would have probably been in a far better place.
Still remember seeing this at the cinema in 2005.....I was on the edge of my seat! Nowadays it holds a special place in my heart for being my favorite of the sequels.
This movie was so obviously NOT Saw... it was just stiched together with Jigsaw scenes. I remember watching this and thinking to myself "OMG this gon' be over after this one". But thankfully it was not. I mean, this one had all the traits of a flop sequel (including the script that was taken from blacklist shelf) but some how made it to the top. That's a feat in itself, but also Saw 2 spawned 8 movies after itself which is just WOW.
I really loved the way you spoke about this movie. I knew the needle pit was everyone's favorite trap, and Shawnee Smith did such a fantastic job acting. I still feel myself cringe whenever I rewatch Saw 2 The fact that she was pregnant during filming is def something I did not know. I am so excited for Saw X!!!
I remember John Fallon mentioning on his website that he was going to be in Saw II. Not only was it fun to see him in the film, but he had an essential line of dialogue.
Jigsaw is quite animated in S2 so I am interested what his demeanor will be in Saw X. Hoping to hear JF discuss his S2 experiences in a future vid! Thanks Tyler and co.
This was one of the better movies of the series. I think the first four were fantastic. Anything after those movies became convoluted redundant, messes of movies and they're still making more. I really hate the needle pit that is by far and away the worst trap of the entire series for me
Check out Saw VI. It's easily the best "post-Whannell" movie. It brings back the psychological aspect and actually has a message behind (healthcare) rather than just being excessive gore. Kevin Greutert has been around since the first movie so it makes sense why it worked well. Saw X seems to be going in that direction as well.
I’ve only watched Saw 1,2,3,4,5,6, & Jigsaw. Never seen SAW 7 or Spiral. I think Saw 2 is the best out of the series but I’m not really a fan of the ending. I wish the ending had both Amanda & Daniel would be stick together and forever be chased by the Cult of Saw which can lead up to SAW 3 which would be a more survival story.
@@jenniferwilliams5478 yeah I mean I don’t mind prequels or spin-offs but Jigsaw felt like a sequel and a prequel. I thought it was lame honestly. I hated everything about it. Seriously I could come up with something much better really. Also felt like the characters were weak and that the director and writer didn’t understand what Saw Is.
Even though the (ever expanding) Saw franchise pretty much blends into one, the first and second films remain the best to me and have great rewatch appeal. Great video, Tyler.
This is my favourite sequel by far - great continuation that ups the stakes and traps, and adds some interesting characters as well as an awesome twist.
I mean, the antagonist was already revealed in the first movie. Let's just cut to the chase in the second movie. And I love the movie for that, it was direct and straight-forward - we're getting a one-on-one interview with Jigsaw Killer himself.
Shawnee Smith was pregnant during filming, but kept it a secret from everyone, including the director and producers. Her daughter gave the secret away one day during lunch, but only to the director Darren Lynn Bousman.
Seeing Frankie G clowning around gives me an exponential amount of appreciation for his portrayal. I pictured the cast needing on-set protection from him. Great job!
Saw 2 was good not great because the entire theater seen the amanda twist come a mile away. But its got gore that gun shot through the eye was MONEY plus i feel for this was more of the dramatic factor than horror. The sit down between john & detective was great.
I Have All 9 SAW Movies On DVD In A Box Set Collection. It's Because Of SAW IT TRULY INTRODUCED ME TO WORLD OF TORTURE PORN FILMS. I CANNOT WAIT FOR SAW 10 I'M GONNA SEE IT IN PERSON NEXT TUESDAY.
I know alot of people always have the first one as the best,. But to me the second one is the best one. The needle trap is still the most distinct trap in the entire series. Legit creeps me out every single time i see it!.
This was the first film in the series that I saw. The only part I didn’t understand at the time was the callback to the bathroom at the end. But I quickly saw the first movie after this one, so the gaps didn’t hinder the experience. The only major problem I have with this movie is the acting from some of the players. The Hispanic gang guy and the brunette with the hand trap are truly awful. And the bald guy who burned alive was pretty rough in his delivery too.
For me, the saw franchise is only 1 and 2. 1 was an amazing psychological thriller, and 2 was a torture p*rn kind of movie and it was a nice twist on the first movie, and I liked the false narrative and how the movie went in different times and the Amanda twist. It's the best sequel while the other ones were mediocre cash grabs.
Saw 2 is actually.y favorite in the franchise, edging 1 out by a nose. It's got more. Plus it has The Arrow himself, John Fallon, in it? Make that two noses, one for him. Lol but true.
Saw 2 is much better movie than I remember, at first I didn't liked it much because traps (except death mask) seemed lame to me and I completely missed all the deep meaning and details that made it so awesome.
Man i love Saw 2 , its easily my personal favorite one , hell I think it's the best sequel in the franchise period , I remember i.went to go see it in theater at amc inside the mall 2005
Part 3 was the best one. Part 2 I figured it out in the first 20 minutes. Amanda wasn't sick and coughing up blood like the others and I figured the kid was Matthews kid. Smh It was ok but it wasn't the greatest.
I can tell this one was not orginal. By far the worst sequel as a megafan from the start. Dumb people in the traps, dont even attempt to do them. Its short as hell, I was hugely dissapointed. Luckily after that it was just better and better.
To me, this is the best one in the franchise. It was raw and intense, they way the camerawork was shot made you feel like you were in the game yourself
The ending was truly awesome. John, sitting there all bloody, broken fingers, beaten half to death, dying of cancer, yet he is smiling. Truly awesome
This movie really made Jigsaw interesting thanks to Tobin Bell.
Great observation. Thank you.
Thought it said Taco Bell💀

@@BunnychanFarabee100% agree! Tobin did for jigsaw what Robert Englund did for Freddy! ❤
100%
The actor that played the asshole drug dealer looks like a really chill and funny guy you to want you hang out with.

Yeah id it wasn't for doing drugs with Cecil again smh
Jill would still be alive too I'm sure

I remember when i SAW this movie with a group of friends.
Everyone got mad at me for figuring out the riddle in the beginning.
Indeed, we are a part of a small percentage
The safe combination one? How did you solve it without knowing they all had different color numbers

Saw 6 was a fantastic movie 🙂 it is my favorite out of the series actually
@@hermunkulus I've seen pretty much all of them but by the 6 movie it's like come on
Worst you mean it was so gruesome and iconic? or just bad and not like it?
I wouldn’t be surprised if saw X makes it into your top list

This movie and the one with the carousel are my favorite saw films

Agree
the one thing I actually hate about Saw 2 is that I feel the antagonist was revealed to the police maybe too soon in the series
I mean, the antagonist was already revealed in the first movie. Let's just cut to the chase in the second movie. And I love the movie for that, it was direct and straight-forward - we're getting a one-on-one interview with Jigsaw Killer himself.
It felt like we could have had another movie before the events of Saw 2. And that’s exactly what Saw X gave us!
Great job on this! You had info that even THIS hard-core fan didn't even know. Thank you!
Shawnee Smith was pregnant during filming, but kept it a secret from everyone, including the director and producers. Her daughter gave the secret away one day during lunch, but only to the director Darren Lynn Bousman.
One of my favourites!! I saw it on cinemas with my best friend. The plot twist was great, filmmaking, Passion, gore.
Seeing Frankie G clowning around gives me an exponential amount of appreciation for his portrayal.

Great job!
Been following joblo horror for a year or so and just found out there’s a joblo original channel!! Why was it never recommended?? Love your work
Thank you!
Saw X is my absolute favorite now! It was so good. I’m really looking forward to the next follow ups.
First 3 SAW movies are awesome 👍
Saw 2 was good not great because the entire theater seen the amanda twist come a mile away. But its got gore that gun shot through the eye was MONEY plus i feel for this was more of the dramatic factor than horror. The sit down between john & detective was great.
I didn't know Gregg Hoffman passed away in 2005, I really hope he got see the final movie before that.

Well I didn’t SAW the movie so I don’t know what happened
Incredible story!
I "Saw" what you did there
I actually liked this one due to Whalberg, dudes an underrated actor.
Yep. I’ve always hated that Mark (The less talented brother in my opinion) got all the attention and work of them two
Hey Tyler, what is your favorite trap in the Saw film series? And which trap is your worst nightmare?
I know alot of people always have the first one as the best,. But to me the second one is the best one. The needle trap is still the most distinct trap in the entire series. Legit creeps me out every single time i see it!.
First one is genius, 2 is okay, 3 is a great tporn movie
Best sequel in the franchise love the twist with Amanda being his accomplish at the end
John Kramer is badass

Saw II or Saw is the best Saw film. Probably Saw. Two I've watched the most.
Wow seeing Xavier dancing around and goofing off with a big smile just feels..idk wrong?
This is the FIRST SAW movie I saw, no pun intended, before seeing original, it’s still my favorite.
Nothing is more 2000's than the first 4 saw films
Absolutely love this film and cannot wait for X
Cheap formula? Eat crud (initially I typed “eat shit” but UA-cam asked me not to)
One Of The Best Sequels Ever
I just watched this again the other day. Still holds up
Saw 2 is my favourite
Idk why but Shawnee smith is so fine with that haircut
Saw 2 was my introduction to the franchise
Eric Matthews 🤣🤣🤣…FEENY FEEHEHENY!!

Still one of my favorites in the series if not my favorite.
Bathroom Trap
And of course I'm watching this after binging on Saw X trailers and BTS videos
This was one of the worst in the series
Man i love Saw 2 , its easily my personal favorite one , hell I think it's the best sequel in the franchise period , I remember i.went to go see it in theater at amc inside the mall 2005
Saw 2 is perfect and they should have stopped there
Either there or at part 3
I enjoyed this movie for what it was. Not as good as the first but still a fun ride. BTW, Rotten Tomatoes is irrelevant.
What happened to Saw 2? It comes out soon.
Saw 2 is the best one
I am not a fan of the franchise. The 1st one is a classic but the sequels are not enjoyable to me.
Part 3 was the best one. Part 2 I figured it out in the first 20 minutes. Amanda wasn't sick and coughing up blood like the others and I figured the kid was Matthews kid. Smh It was ok but it wasn't the greatest.
