It hard to pick up in the video I think I get what you are saying about the sound but the syllable is meant to struck or said on the down beat when he is clapping his hands together it looks like he has finished saying Ta then claps but if playing the drummed intrument you would have resonance of sound when it is struck no just a flat sound it would occupy the time space in the one beat that why he saying saying Taaaa in a elongated fashion.
