@@Qu1nt4n4 nothing wrong with how it looks, it looks better than literally everything else in my opinion, you metioned font rendering, can you elaborate how exactly?
It is subjective. I like Firefox, but for me, it has more issues than Brave and I do use both a lot. The native ad blocker in Brave is built from scratch, but based on UBO and works in the same fashion. Also, if you like, they are maintaining MV2 and have a special repository to still be able to install the most common MV2 extensions, including UBO, if you prefer to use that. I have my issues with Brave, but it is pretty clear they have done way more work for the user side than Firefox has over the last 5 years.
It does go to a central server/cloud. It would not work otherwise. Unfortunately, it is also very prone to issues and is a bit overengineered. Their main issues on git are often around it. They could have accomplished the same thing in a much more user-friendly way for non-technical people out there.
@@holyhelga For non-technical that is a problem, not to mention that they change the last word daily so those people don't understand that and often end up with broken sync. They could have easily done this in a cleaner method while still maintaining the lack of a registered account.

@andresstreetpunk I'd rather do the reading than let an LLM regurgitate a summery at me. The ad blocker is rust based. Wow. That just tells me it's potentially slightly more memory safe than something not written in Rust. I don't want the crypto bloat on my computer period. As a Linux-only user, I just hate Web 2.0 with a passion and find as many ways as possible for not having to use a web browser for as many tasks as possible - using RSS in Newsboat for news feeds and video content, no webmail and only using email providers that support IMAP or POP3 with Mutt, using wget and curl for grabbing files, etc. etc. I would dearly love to see a lot more informational content move over to using the Gemini protocol so all of the rich media and bloat can be discarded for where only simple text and images are required. I also use text-based browsing with Lynx and w3m as much as possible but the only actual mainstream browser I use is Firefox - which works fine most of the time but slows down after a while, especially with the ad-blocking that I do.
I love Brave and I want to use Brave, but after using it for a month (switching from Edge and Chrome) or so, I really needed the seamless sync across all of my devices. This is where I regretfully gave up on Brave. The sync code flow was unfortunately not a one or two click solution. After getting a device in the sync chain, I'd have to manually toggle on all of the sync categories I need. Finally, I'd have to re-customize Brave into what I want it to behave/look like. For a someone who works on a fairly high number of cattle-ish systems, the process was really tiring. If that is streamlined. then I'm switching back in a heartbeat, but for now, the syncing is the make-or-break feature for me 😭 (In addition to that, sometimes when I do API testing, the browser kept getting header length too large error which I had to do workarounds for)

I tried brave when it came out and it crashed on me multiple times making me lose my tabs and hours of work, so it is a no for me
how do you get that search page? and favourites list?
I also use Brave, and it is great😊 I like this browser and recommend it to you
I use Vivaldi with the Brave Search engine. Every now and then I'll try Brave again but just like Vivaldi a lot more.
Ditto. I still keep Brave installed and use as second browser along with Opera depending on what I’m trying to do.
have you tried Zen browser?
Why did the chicken change browsers?
It wanted to be brave
Good One.
I'm Brave too🤗
because it got into referral program
Who would have thought, for this 12.5 minute video, YT/google injected 5 ad interruptions of about 4.5 minutes. Have yet to find in Brave how to `select all' for text copy, anyone know?
Seems to me vertical tabs will consume more space than horizontal ones!
When I mention data found on the brave browser to answer a question, you tube erases the comment. Are they butt hurt because it blocks most of their garbage ads?
@DistroTube HELLO REPLY how can i remove this thing on browser 7:56 to go back to 8:32 ?
Right click on the tab list -> tuggle "vertical tabs" off
Nothing against Brave but something about just mainline Firefox just always has me coming back to it. I've also tried LibreWolf and I still prefer normal Firefox for some reason even though they're nearly the same.
firefox-gnome-theme had me switching from brave to Firefox. I think I'm going to use Vivaldi now with cosmic. I can get it to look somewhat native looking easily. I can't stand these electron apps. The UI doesn't blend in.
You can pry Firefox browser from cold, dead hands.
Does it play popup video yet?
Duckduckgos bangs is what keeps me
You can create "bangs" in your browser search settings, for example y write "deep" then press TAB and can translate from X language to X language directly from search bar
What about Mosaic?
I know it’s popular to hate on Thorium but I liked it, it’s very fast.
Its chromium with google tracking
I also love the Brave browser 😍
when I use brave in minimal linux setup ( window managers or wayland compositors) an annoying window popup on the brave startup
any one can help me how to solve this problem?
I am a bit disappointed: Neither a truth social nor MAGA link on his brave start page.
I'm a conservative and have neither. I find myself typing out easy to remember urls, like rumble. Bookmarks are for localhost servers that I don't care to remember, like jellyfin.
I was on Internet Explorer in the 90s.
Brave is good for privacy, Firefox is not
I use Brave on my pc,phone and ipad…..works great.
Brave is really good with blocking trackers and ads and it's almost undetectable, and it's lightweight, my question always was why not a lot of people are using it ?!
Because most people are computer illiterate and dont even know what an adblocker is
Dude even in my cybersecurity course mates used chrome without extensions
People said firefox is slow but in my case, brave run a lot worse, weird (still recommend thorium browser and librewolf😃)
add block not working 😒in brave now still youtube adds😒 website ads
I could use Leo once or twice then it kept asking me to upgrade for US$14.99 per month.
ooops, missed observing prior mentions of Leo AI,
Nice to hear
I will use brave if its wayland support but zen browser for me is so good
Vivaldi and Floorp
Firefox + ublock Origin > Brave
With the exception of font rendering and appearance.
@@Qu1nt4n4 nothing wrong with how it looks, it looks better than literally everything else in my opinion, you metioned font rendering, can you elaborate how exactly?
nope, check using 'dicconect' extensions on both browsers, brave more secure out of the box
I have my issues with Brave, but it is pretty clear they have done way more work for the user side than Firefox has over the last 5 years.
tbh brave shields achieves the same amount of adblocking on tests, besides is fast because shields are rust based.
Brave search is Shockingly bad !
Lol I'm loving floorp/firedragon
brave sync dont seem to use a central server atleast you dont have to create an account to use sync
It does go to a central server/cloud. It would not work otherwise. Unfortunately, it is also very prone to issues and is a bit overengineered. Their main issues on git are often around it. They could have accomplished the same thing in a much more user-friendly way for non-technical people out there.
@@Cyco_Nix ok good to know
@@Cyco_Nix you probably mean the long phrase you have to type to use it
@@holyhelga For non-technical that is a problem, not to mention that they change the last word daily so those people don't understand that and often end up with broken sync. They could have easily done this in a cleaner method while still maintaining the lack of a registered account.
@@Cyco_Nix yea you Basicly have to have a device that already has sync enabled and copy the phrase to the new device
Ugh man…behind every AI assistant is someone making money off your use of it.
What’s wrong with making money?
There's local AI assistants, get on with the times man.
Netscape Navigator? Man, you old. 😂
I tried brave and it crashes due to my insane amount of tabs, but firefox type browsers take it like a champ.
Ever since the crypto stuff was shill, I can't bring myself to use Brave. I just can't. It's a cool project, but naw. I'm good.
I wonder how much dollars does Brave pay to DT.
So I got about 3 and half minuets into this and had to stop. Has reading become so difficult that you need an AI to summarize an article for you? Really?
Also, Brave is just crome with an ad blocker and some crypto thrown in for spice. I'll keep mainlineing Firefox to avoid blockchain bullshite.
dude, when you have a lot to read this is a great tool. its adblocker is rust based and great. you can disable crypto bloat. any other argument?
@andresstreetpunk I'd rather do the reading than let an LLM regurgitate a summery at me.
The ad blocker is rust based. Wow. That just tells me it's potentially slightly more memory safe than something not written in Rust.
I don't want the crypto bloat on my computer period. I don't want to touch that pyramid scheme with a ten foot pole.
In conclusion, I will not use Brave because of it's integral use of crypto.
@@leviathanfafnerintegral? Denying the speed and security of Rust vs JavaScript? And about the lecture, if you wanna waste your time like that it is your choice lol, but some of us have more things to do. About the crypto, lets not mention the failed businesses that FF put on their browser. Pocket, relay, now adopting an AI and collecting Info on users, nice choice. Finally, cripto is opt out, you can disable it COMPLETELY. Dude, it seems AI is unavoidable and it is here to stay, it is not like NFT, this tech has their needing niche.
@@andresstreetpunk I'm agnostic as far as what language software is written in. I just use it, I don't maintain it.
The use of crypto as a core feature of Brave eliminates it from my list of browsers I'll willingly use.
Crypto is a pyramid scheme, and blockchain is a solution looking for a problem.
LLMs and similar AIs are here, and the technology has legitimate uses; but the training of these generitive AI is the greatest act of plagerism ever committed. So, forgive me if I'm not peeing my pants in excitement about its intrusion into my digital life.
@@leviathanfafner You don't have to be that dramatic. Life, this system we live on is the greatest pyramid scheme ever created, and doesn't even need of crypto for that lol. About LLMs, we need to abolish copyright on all dimensions. Not fair when to read a paper you need to pay $200, but for AI is free. It should be free for all personal uses. About the agnosticism, I prefer speed languages, that's why I like C/C++(unsafe) and Rust(safe) primarily. I am not into web derived techs. I prefer native technologies.
I am a brave user as well but man Zen looks dope af!
I find librewolf better than brave
i like librewolf, but it breaks a lot of sites by default. I use Brave for normie browsing and librewolf for "advanced" browsing
I also use text-based browsing with Lynx and w3m as much as possible but the only actual mainstream browser I use is Firefox - which works fine most of the time but slows down after a while, especially with the ad-blocking that I do.
ill be honest, i dont think anyone is asking you that bro
Blinded by the light...
any frame drops on UA-cam with Brave?
Just say they're paying you its fine
Firefox for life for me.
If that is streamlined. then I'm switching back in a heartbeat, but for now, the syncing is the make-or-break feature for me 😭
(In addition to that, sometimes when I do API testing, the browser kept getting header length too large error which I had to do workarounds for)
I use Zen BTW 🗿
Brave adblocker is the best adblocker out there
Ublock is better
I use Arc browser. Because it has numerous shortcut combinations and has some cool multitasking features.
Also it kinda looks cool.
PDF file 👀💀
Use zen for a change
